Hello,
So a lot of people have been wondering about the story that is involved with the LS, etc.
Now while the LS seems to be boring/have no story. It actually has a great story. The thing is that 1. People are treating it like a MMO (as in just paying attention to items/quest, or in this case items/achievements) and 2. It progress very slow. The story takes about 2 weeks to progress. So here is a short summary of what is going on.
One day charr and norn villages started getting raided and burned to the ground. Thousands were displaced by the raiders, many more dead. In a effort to survive they fled south to their respected capital cities to seek assistance. Some went so far as to go to Lions Arc. The attackers were eventually identified as a brutal alliance between the Flame Legion and the Dredge. Their combined their smarts and expertise to create a very powerful force. Heroes were called in from far and wide to help with the refugees and deal with what was called “The Molten Alliance”. Two certain refugees took up the reigns to finally push back The Molten Alliance. One was known as Braham and Rox. Braham and heroes teamed up to save his village. Rox and heroes teamed up to take back a hatchery. They were successful, but the molten alliance was able to capture a few villagers. Rox and Braham teamed up and called upon heroes to assault various Molten Alliance Weapon facilities. Through sweat, blood, fire, and cold they rescued the captives and destroyed the facilities.
The refugees were offered jobs and promises of homes by the consortium in Lions Arc. Knowing they had no where to go, they agreed. They went to Southsun. The consortium, using the fine print in their contracts the refugees signed, basically turned them into cheap/free labor. The refugees, not wanting this, started revolting. Riots would break out, bad things of that natrue. The Lionguard, seeing this as a potential threat, sent Kiel to help assist the consortium and act as a mediator with the settlers and the consortium. Sadly, before she arrived, an ex consortium slyvari that was second born had begun causing local wildlife to go crazy. More heroes were called to assist Kiel in keeping the settlers and consortium safe, from the monsters but also themselves. The heroes went around killing monsters, settling disputes, and collecting samples of the wild life the slyvari planted.
If all of these things happened within a week at different times, it would probably be a lot more interesting, but making these things takes time and making them short causes many complaints to arise (lagging from a ton of players, people not having time to do them, etc). While it is only 2 weeks, it’s a lot better than 4 weeks as it was before.
The key to enjoying this event is NOT PLAYING for the sake of achievements. Just walk around, do events, and casually the achievements. If you do it all for the sake of achievements you don’t really pay attention to the world around you. You’re just doing it for the sake of those things. When you talk to the NPCs read what they say. Explore the world and find stuff. Don’t follow a guide. The whole process is a lot more fun. If it gets down to the point where you don’t think you’re going to be able to play again and this is your one chance to get the rewards, then go head and run a guide.
