You have to sabotage the fields before he lands there and whilst no one is looking. Once he lands there, he’ll be vulnerable. Again, make sure you’re not in the field of anything’s vision, knock him out from behind. So be at least one step ahead of him, waiting for him to come to you.

For me this is very hard to do too, i asked for a party but all i got was “get good”.

ANet, this IS a nightmare and no fun at all. Seriously, what were you thinking by adding this instance?

True, but I feel it’s necessary to mock people who refuse to improve themselves and instead make demands that the game be easier instead.

No the horror is ANET’s complete lack of direction for these event’s, yes long term players can figure it out but there should be some explanation on the part of ANET as WHAT you do. It has always been a problem of theirs and needs to be fixed. That is another reason they have a hard time keeping people playing!

I am a long term player and I think that it is just not nice at all for new players, People should not have to wait for someone to put out a guide so they know what to do but Most People HAVE TO! mainly because of the LACK of DIRECTIONS!

I am sure the OP had some issues as I saw the same for a few moments, until I figured out what was going on. I can see where some people would have a problem with this one. The only tips I can give is to Watch the golems and stay out of their orange circle. Watch the white half circles too from the asura ( line of sight). Just watch their patterns and then make your move no matter trying to get the doors open or the final fight.

Take your time, do not rush it and all should be done. I soloed this within a few moments or so , but did not rush it.

Good luck.

I really don’ think this is a “long-term”/veteran player thing, so much as take a moment and observe what’s going on around the area. I found the execution to be a bit tricky, but I had no problems figuring out what it was Anet intended for me to do during this Living Story. There is a fine line sometimes between “clear directions” and “hand-holding”, and I don’t envy the devs that have to make that call.

Yup, that’s how I see it too. This is the first time this kind of stealth mechanic was used ingame, meaning vets as well as new players are on equal footing. It’s merely a matter of basic thinking. If you can’t stealth, just kill everything in sight. With Caithe’s insane skills this is no problem and makes the whole instance a joke.

The second time I have to sabotage the shield generators, I manage to sabotage a couple then I get detected and the quest changes to ‘eliminate the hostiles to gain stealth’. I kill some (not all) and gain stealth but the quest stays the same and I’m unable to interact with anything! Can’t fight, can’t sabotage, I’m stuck and have to exit. Happened twice.

That may be but I am a guild leader and most ppl DO NOT KNOW what to do as new players, it has nothing to do with hand holding it has to do with experience this game has ALOT to learn if you want to play properly and MOST of the mechanics are not know by new player so they DO NOT KNOW WHAT to look for!

It really is the bugs. When you dumb out and get detected, then dodge IMMEDIATELY, it sometimes leaves you with no other actions/‘attacks’ than heal and dodge, while the NPC are all on alert mode – but you are already stealthed again, so you can’t interact with anything. SO annoying. Did that to me twice at the same point – luckily, I had a group with me which didn’t bug out…

If all players are new to this kind of content and many are still able to figure it out the first time (i.e. my guild and everyone I personally play with), it’s tuned right with enough directions to know what to do. Maybe your people should read the green text in the upper right corner.

That’s not quite true. Or, rather, the vets have an advantage in figuring it out.

Those of us that have played the game longer have a better general understanding of what goes on in this game, and when something’s different than normal. We’ve gotten a feel for how the devs think, and what they can do with the game. Thus, we have an advantage when it comes to figuring out something new.

It’s like getting to know someone. Once you know them well enough, then even if they trip over their own words or mistype something, you can still tell what they meant fairly easily.

Myself, I messed up a few times in this mission and had to fight it out, and I didn’t do too well with the skills I was forced to use. At the generators, I went around in a circle destroying them all, thinking that if I got them all then his shield would drop. It took me a while to realize that I’d destroyed more than there should be, and someone was repairing them. THEN I figured it out.

I agree that the part where you have to lure the enemy into a voidzone to make him vulnerable was already present in some select parts of the game, however knocking out enemies with casts and vision cones that rotated on a timer were an absolute first.

You have to work out all the mechanics from the beginning. I think it was a smart move from ANet to position the first guard on top of the stairs so you have to walk through his cone of vision and see that they can’t see you if you are stealthed.
That’s teaching through gameplay and very well done.
Same for the golems; If asura can’t see you with white cones and golems have red ones, logic dictates that they can detect you if you stealth inside their circle.

But… this part had a second option – combat. Just reveal yourself. It’s a very easy fight and when it’s done, this part is complete.

Actually, you can get to level 80 without seeing most of the game or doing any of the personal story or even LS Season 2 before this point. You (and ANet) can’t assume that players have seen any of these mechanics before, which helps when figuring out how they interact here.

Oh I imagine there are plenty of sparsely traited, overly gated and undergeared, new level 80’s diving into the Living Story these days, the bigger issue is what happens when the game just turns into one frustrating experience after another for them?

Not every player is masochistic type gamer, some people just want to have fun, not tedium.

I’m sorry if some of the more simple players aren’t having fun but they can’t tune the game to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

edit: If you want to be taken seriously, you should refrain from excessive use of caps.

I can confirm that you don’t need to complete the PS at all. I’ve finished it on none of my characters, and I’m playing LS season 2 just fine.

You don’t have to play them in order, either, just have to have them unlocked.

When I did it the detection zones were moving so fast you didn’t have time from when it moved from a point to when it rotated back to that point to carry out the disable so I had to kill everything – most annoying because I would have liked to have done it via stealth.
I will see if it does the same with the next character or the replay.

You only appear visible for the last or so second of the cast. You can try casting when the vision is still on you so you get out of stealth right when they turn.

I was under the impression that you have to have completed the PS to access Season 2 and I’m sure there was an ANet response backing me up on this. From my understanding you also have to complete the episodes in order.

Keywords were ‘I was under the impression’, never stating that this was a fact. Plus there is only one way to go, so if you can neither figure out a direction in a corridor, nor read what is written in green on the top right corner of your screen, this might not be the game for you

From this point on I’m not going to reply to you, seeing as you are just trolling based on the way you write and the points you make.

So your solution is that if some one can not figure it out right away they should Quit!, and you call me the troll!
as for the top right it does not explain to interact with wall panels to distract golems so reading does JACK!
a better explanation is needed which has been my point the whole time and I think I have been pretty clear on that XD

The subtle hints the arrows give is nice but still explains nothing for new players, as for me I did not have alot of troble with this other than the bugging out so you can not interact Which was fixable, but I am a vet player!~

I am happy for you being able to complete it but that will not be the case for the MAJORITY of players as most will need to look up a Guide long term and short term players alike XD

And there are plenty of people who will still have issues even if you walk them through it like a storybook. An unfortunate line has to be drawn somewhere, and if you take the time to look around and read the top corner it is clear what you should be doing in this instance. Patience may be required. Also, a bit of reading comprehension. And general ability to observe your surroundings.

LOL now you are Expecting every new player to learn LIKE YOU DID not every 1 does alot of ppl PLAY alone till they hit 80 and HAVE NO CLUE as to what is in this game XD

All I want is for them to account for thier NEW PLAYER base and add some EXPLENATION and to assume that they SHOULD KNOW is just moronic

And the unpleasant reality is people have to actively learn for themselves at some point. If they ever want to get better, the training wheels must come off.

Also, between your random caps and need to call people moronic, you really are not helping your case. Can we at least try to keep our disagreements civil? The moment we all go down that rabbit hole we lose valuable opportunities for discussion.

I suppose I should follow this route, but I’m hopeful. One day these forums will break me of that.

Wait… what? If this is for the part I’m thinking of, then I failed that part trying to get it to work. I had no idea there was another way to go about it.

It is very clear what you have to do, the instances make use of the basic teach mechanic 1 teach mechanic 2 then implement both into the boss fight. Prior knowledge is not needed as they are two new mechanics. To elaborate:

First 2 guards: Oh we were detected because we were in the field of sight and they turned hostile:
Lesson 1: LOS breaks stealth allows killing of guards

Lone guard: Guards can be knocked out from behind, switches can be interacted with:
Lesson 2: Guards can be knocked out from behind without detection

Room 1 : Implementation of the first two mechanics

Room 2: Golem, you try to interact with a switch, golem comes towards it:
Lesson 3: Golems are attracted to switch noises, Golems can detect you.

Room 3: Implementation of the mechanics just taught.

Boss room:
Stage 1: Get behind and hit while avoiding as taught on guard 3.
Cutscene Explains shield, shows shield being knocked out by generator to clue you in.
bonus for people who played silverwastes it’s the same mechanic Gold and Silver use.
Stage 2: Destroy one ahead of him (If it weren’t enough to clue you in they also show an icon above the one you should destroy).
Stage 3: Switches are now intractable, golems have appeared….hmmm sounds like room2, interact with switch in front of the one ahead of him ,golem leaves post, blow up generator, hit target.

Even if you completely fail to understand all the mechanics you can still complete it easily because you can just kill him if you break stealth. So it is pretty fool proof.
There is currently one glitch that locks your skills out but that has nothing to do with the mechanics of the instance.

[RoF] and [BL] guild leader
11x level 80’s 80+ Titles 2600+ skins , still a long way to go.

I did not call him moronic I implied that expecting people to learn at their rate or know something because they do is moronic
which is true and it applies to any body not just that one individual!
and as for the training wheels you just did the same thing by saying just thatXD

I’m not convinced this story isn’t bugging out for some people… on my second run through for achievements I was prepared to hit him but there was no option to. Had destroyed the shield generator, wasn’t seen, was right behind him, went to knock him out and….nada. Thinking I did something wrong I repeated 2 or 3 times in a row before I was discovered which pretty much bombed the whole stealth thing. As far as the first playthrough the Asura were a headache but tolerable. I don’t know how I will feel by the time I actually knock this kitten out. And man, I REALLY wanna punch him. Just once. If the game will let me.
