I have tried this part 3 times and can get no farther than taking the shields off. After that it’s an endless battle with worms and no sign of Aerin at all.

Aerin will jump to the other platforms and as his HP goes down he will put up the shield again and you’ll have to take it down again.

Each time he will ebgin to jump the platforms more frequently and start having more atatcks.

Best thing to do is to fight him on the platforms. us eht Crystal powers to get on to the platforms and fight him.

He jumps around so try and jump to different platforms after the shields are down. Range attacks are your friend here.

I don’t guess I’ll be doing much of season 2 living story then because I have nothing but trouble with any jumping. Especially here with what seems like a dozen worms around.

Likewise. I didn’t want a platform game, I wanted an RPG. But after the success of both SAB and the cliffs, it seems I am in the minority. Looks like I may be looking for a new game if I want something more traditional, it is just sad that I like the actual combat here.

You don’t have to jump at all. There’s a ramp you can walk up. Just ignore the worms and go kill him. Look around before you think you’re stuck.

Stand in the middle platform and Afkautoshot him with your longbow, pretty simple.

After half an hour trying to jump up to him, only to get pushed down again after less than a second the few times I managed the jump at all before the crystal wore off, I feel I’ve had my fill of this.

For the final part of the fight, there’s a path that leads up to the area where Aerin is. There is a big dune with sand spilling over it on one side of the arena. If you are facing the dune, the path that leads up to Aerin is to the left of that. It took me a while to realize that I didn’t need the crystals to get into melee range. I was playing a necro so I had mostly ranged weapons on but he doesn’t spend too much time on the other platforms. Range when he is out of melee and melee when he comes to you. With proper dodge/movement/etc. away from the knockback bombs you should be able to stay with him the entire fight.

There is literally no jumping at all in this fight. you walk up a ramp, stand on a platform and afk auto attack him until he dies. If you don’t want to run up and down the ramp 10 times then you can add in auto attack + dodge bombs.

I pretty much ranged him but it took a bit before I realized when he put up the shield I had to get the aspect and go at him to take it down when he was on the platform where the ramp went up to. Once I realized that, it was dodging the bomb attacks and ranging him until he went down. It was not easy but it is doable. I did not jump to the other platforms at all. When I got knocked down I ran back avoiding the fighting below the best I could and got back on the ramp. I do admit I got knocked down quite a bit but my encouragement was that I saw I was making some inroads on his health as I went….

Pretty sure everyone has said this, I know I did, but I’ll say it again.

Stand on the middle platform and basically just range him until it’s over. Try not to accidentally walk into the useless crystals unless he gets his shield up at which point you just need to pick up an orange crystal and hit him with that. Then just stand on the middle platform again and kite around the Big ol’ Bombs.

This took a long time. I beat him with my necro and I probably could have stood on the main platform and plinked away at him with my staff, but I opted to do quick bursts of melee/DS damage while he was actually on that platform. I also had a few minions deployed to wear him down as well.

The most annoying part of this fight was the bombs, which kept knocking me off the platform. Watch out for those, and also watch out as you dodge (I dodged right off the platform a couple of times, heh.) You really don’t have to worry about the worms/tentacles/whatever those things in the ground are, since your party should keep those occupied the whole time. If you have a long-range weapon, great, just get up to the main platform and hit him wherever he goes. If you don’t, or if you’re having trouble dodging the bombs, try to get in as much damage as you can while he’s on the main platform, then wait until he teleports back there. Repeat until he goes down.

Below about 50% health, Aerin puts up a shield that can be broken by using the sun aspect and rushing right at him, which isn’t too hard. You do NOT need to use the jumping/teleport aspects to beat him.

I suggest you actually not dodge the bombs. Walk out of them instead. If your connection is good enough you should have enough time to avoid the bombs without using dodge and potentially shooting yourself off and edge.

I’m glad ANet are offering some interesting mechanics. I for one enjoyed the fight and didn’t find it overly challenging.

There’s still plenty of world bosses you can afk auto-attack if that’s your thing, otherwise L2P.

Never had a problem with this either.
Ignored the tendrils, ran up the ramp and killed him at range.
Got knocked off the platform a couple of times but when Aerin was on the centre platform, i simply shot at him from ground level.

Took me awhile to find him and the ramp up, but yea no jumping required for the final battle….

that and as for the bombs if you suck with dodging just use stability. I did it with necro, by long ranging him when he teleported around (life blast in death shroud), which has nearly no stability save for elite (lich form).

And the vines down below are not your concern, let npcs worry with them. Your fight is on top with him.

Right, but even then you sometimes just run into them. Hell, in my fight, the master of peace dumped some directly in front of Aerin.

Also, if they are not needed, why put them into the encounter? Clearly they intended them to be used.

I think they put them there for people who have no range ability. I agree that the final boss encounter could use some work. It is like it made it through one round of QA and they had to kick it out the door with quick usability fixes.

Glad to see I’m not the only one having problems with it. This is quite possibly the most annoying encounter in the game to date.

The good part is, if you die his health doesn’t regen back up.

I used my necro and hit him with ranged. Like others said, there is a ramp that leads to where he is. You can run up it and reach him.

I found him easier to kill if I jumped across to the large rock platform as soon as possible and range attack him from there. That allowed me to ignore most of the bombs etc (although he still dropped some near me) and all I had to deal with were grenades.

However, 2 or 3 times through the fight he did put up his shield again so I had to go and break that before jumping back to the big platform.

Trying it any other way I was getting constantly knocked off the smaller platforms.

The fight wasn’t too bad. One thing that was definitely annoying about it was running into crystals when you just want to use your weapon skills. Playing with a large screen and small interface like I do, sometimes I didn’t even notice my skillbar changing because my attention was elsewhere, resulting in me accidentally using a crystal skill or trying to activate a skill slot with no skill at all in it for a second or 2.

In it’s current form, this is content that I won’t go back to once I get the achievements that I want.

Which seems to be impossible for me now since he puts his shield up on the smallest platform in the area and pushes me back at least 2 times a second and throws grenades like crazy. I did beat did beat him 1 time after finding the ramp and that fight seemed much easier than it is now. I think anet made this fight harder with one of the updates.

Retaliation skills help, spam them.

By the way exactly how do you use the crystal to break the shield? It’s taking me up to 10 minutes to do it on the 2nd part of the fight and I’m not even aware of what I’m doing when it does break.

when the shield goes up you look to your right and the master dude will throw speed crystals at you. grab those and use them while facing at him. as soon as you touch him whilst in the light mode, his shield will break and you can damage him

Before the fight begins, that would be before you take Kasmeer’s portal, look to your right and you’ll see the path to walk up. Just let the NPC’s fight on ground level and get to work on Aerin.

My biggest gripe would be, with all the complaints of a condi meta lately, they make Aerin a grenade Engi??? I’m guessing this has been in the pipeline since last fall. Though still seems like an odd choice.

Yup – I was down there clearing out vines for like 4-5 minutes before I realized we weren’t making a dent (they just adjusted respawn rate no matter HOW fast we killed them)

I don’t get how one can have trouble with this, especially that you even can fight him after dying with the same health. How easy has it to be? Really, get over it, I mean it’s not Candy Crush.

I beat him first time with little trouble, and I’m no elite player. It took me a minute to figure out what was going on, but once I did, it was easy to either jump up and attack, or run up that ramp and attack. It annoyed me that he took so LONG to kill, but the battle itself really wasn’t all that difficult.

I can think of many other encounters FAR more annoying than this one.

I can not remember all the details as I’ve completed the final on first try. From what I can pick out, Aerin became invulnerable around half life when CC is used. So do not use CC just use normal hits. For me, Aerin only became invulnerable in the central platform. I used aspect of sun on and off to passed through all the red circles to stop right next to Aerin. This breaks his invulnerability and you can hurt him again. There is a ramp up and ledge next to the central platform. There is a sand curtain at the ramp however which you have to over come using an aspect of your choice. Best to use range weapons as there are other platforms that Aerin can and will jump on.

Can we fix the zerker meta yet?

Jump on a platform he is not on at the moment. He will be jumping between the other two – just use ranged attack to kill him without worrying about being knocked down.

The fight is simply too long and that makes it the most annyoing encounter.

as someone who runs soldier gear, he’s not very spongy at all. if anything, buy a cheap staff if you “really” can’t deal with killing him. and as far as I can tell, every attack can be dodged if you get the timing right

Slot Lich Form, use it, kill him.

Easy. Or just continue to ignore the tools you have and complain about how other people have it easier because they choose to change their builds for different content.

People cant beat an afk range fight. This is the new low.

Right before the final fight the game teaches you how to handle his shield with sun aspect (target him, use the skill to hit him, OBVIOUSLY) which spawns just right behind you, so take two steps back, press 2 and range afk until he is dead. Gosh … People are just … arrrgh ….

You have a staff, scepter and death shroud, not to mention Lich form which is the 3rd highest damage option in the game after elementalists and thieves. A 900 range weapon can reach it anywhere, both staff and DS is 1200, your scepter is 900 and you can trait your wells to become ranged too. L2P
I found it funny how you despise zerkers, while running tanky build and not even know your class.
There is nothing to fix since nothing is wrong. It always boils down how uninformed players are.

I didn’t jump at all. Just stayed on the starting middle platform and SBed him to death. Easy enough to walk out of his grenade attacks and other than that I don’t remember doing much but pressing 1.

The fight isn’t difficult, but the crystal being thrown around irritates me to no end whenever I am meleeing him. It is only helpful when I want to get close to him, but the moment I get to him, I’d disable it and use my normal skills. But it is just precisely when when the crytals are coincidently thrown onto my character, I have no choice but to watch my skillbar switch and I had to drop it all over again so I can resume dps-ing.

Anyway, you can run up the ramp at the back to get to the main platform, he periodically does come back to the main platform. Else bring a ranged weapon. the wurms and mobs are taken care of by Marjory et all.

Have done this on several characters solo. The first time, I really did over-think things.

You do need ranged skills, he just pops around too much to bother with melee.

You can use the ramp up, and just ignore what is going on on the floor. The first time I was checking on my companions, they don’t seem to drop any of their morale. Just let them handle the worms.

Just stay on the platforms accessible from the ramp. Move around on those areas as needed to avoid orange/red circles as much as possible. Find any skills you have that grant stability and use them religiously. Don’t dodge unless you know you have room. The circles have a few seconds before they blow up, just keep walking around and you can avoid them.

Try to use skills that have bleed/damage over time so they keep whittling him down if you need to take a break.

Occasionally, go stand behind a rock to get out of LOS when you need to heal up and skills are on cool down.

If you use the ramp-access areas, you’ll be in a good position for picking up fire crystals when his shield comes up. Just remember to be targeting him when you use the fire aspect to ram him, or it won’t remove the shield. You also will have fewer crystals to avoid in this area,so you aren’t fumbling to get your combat skills back.

It is a long-winded battle…just settle in and try to relax. If it still isn’t working for ya, just LFG for folks to help.

That doesn’t make sense. Your problem is you didn’t have a ranged weapon, that’s nothing to do with the zerker meta.

You also can’t blame it on the profession you were using, because they all have ranged options as well as melee. (And can all use beserker builds, or tanky builds, or condi builds or any other kind.)

And as a final point if the bombs couldn’t be dodged that would be more of a problem for people using beserker builds than anyone else because they’re pure DPS builds. There’s a reason those are known as glass cannons. They do a lot of damage but are also very delicate. If they couldn’t dodge a hard hitting attack they’d go down faster than anyone with defensive stats.

You can dodge the bombs, you just have to make sure you’re not dodging off the edge. (Or resign yourself to doing that and run back up the ramp.)

But basically the key to this fight is to either use a melee weapon and jump between platforms or use a ranged weapon and just stay in the middle. Other than that and occasional dodging/healing/running back up the ramp the only thing you need to do is use 1 sun crystal to break his shield.

What I just found very confusing/annoying about this fight was the fact that you have all your companions who even warn you before the fight to protect the Master of Peace and take down Aerin as fast as possible, but once the fight starts they just kill pointless worms. They are doing no help for the actual fight, which is the main reason why it drags out so long. I mean after the first time playing it you know it’s basically gonna be a 1vs1 boss fight and you can skill accordingly, but on my first try I expected my companions to help out, like in any other mission. So I went damage/support. I agree it isn’t the hardest fight, I just didnt expect it to turn into a 1vs1 thing.

It seems like a lame attempt to make the fight more challenging, when in actuality it is just more time consuming.
