Human pc saying "omg" too often
(I have nothing against any type of religion as long as it doesnt hurt others, and its even more fine that gw1/2 had its own)
It feels like human pc has just too many gods lines everywhere they lately go.
The living story itself is made to fit all the races. Which is more than fine, its even better since when you leave the story itself and go around the world you get different one liners from each race and gender which gives a bit of individuality to the character (for example char “i cant wait to tell my warband about this place” etc)
It was okay with humans too, they had some random god lines, but lately..The thing is that in the ls3 and current events humans seem to have eighter exclusively or one god line for each reaction.
“By the gods!” (Executioner), “gods! What is that?” (Upon seeing the sloth), “may grenth give them peace” (ls3p1 in BF) and so on and so on.While asura or charr react amusingly to some things, humans sound quite blank and plain always just talking about them.
Yes they are a race which is bound and led by the six gods, but it would be nice to get areas where they wont say such things and go with “you must be joking..” Or any other line except for “god gods..” and so on.
While I see hour point, during points in history, people where very God fearing. And you forget, that the God of Tyria are very real to the humans as they lived among them a few hundred years ago, and still believe they will return. Don’t forget that the gods also opens portals to the Mist’s in LA after Zhitan awoke. Just over 250 years ago, Humans could travel to the UW, FoW and DoA. I mean in Queensdale we fight monsters coming through portals from the UW at the ruins of The Temple of the Ages.

While I understand your sense, please do note that ingame the gods are real. The humans have lived with them for aeons, and they’re a fact. They’re not a questionable presence like in our world.
I dont think I’ve heard other races uses ‘god’ as a reference of exclamation yet

Saying things like that can become a habit even if you aren’t particularly religious. Some people say “god bless you” when you sneeze, even if they are atheists. Etc. And humans aren’t “always” saying thing like that in-game.

The other races do refer to what is important to them. The Charr refer to their legion or their warband, the Asura refer to the Eternal Alchemy and stuff like that, the Norn do refer to the gods here and there but also their heroes, and the Sylvari refer to the Pale Tree.
I don’t understand why the OP feels that humans reference their gods too often. It doesn’t “hurt anyone” and it’s a strong facet of their culture and belief systems. It adds color to the game and gives a strong contract to other races (“charr need no gods!”).

Norn:
By Raven: if something doesn’t make sense
By Bear: if they’re about to enter a harsh fight
Asura:
By the eternal alchemy: equals ‘for the love of god’
Charr:
(x) my tail: screw that ( City of the future my tail – was a good example)
Sylvari: .. I surprisingly can’t remember any sylvan explitives
I see that i mustve not explained myself clearly.
I have nothing against the lines themselves, it just gets old when the character keeps repeating very similar sentences no matter for what and where they were made.
While playing the other races you get many different responces to random occurences in Current ev. or in the new map, some sarcastic ones, some truly suprised.. but most of the human responces are “gods!…” Its not about the content itself, its just that the lines are very repetitive.
If it was at least “by dwayna” and then somewhere else “by grenth” it would be better.

Maybe we can have humans call out “By the Six” instead? Semantically, it’s identical to “by the gods”, but has a lot more flavour to it.

I am glad that you understand what i mean!
That sounds a bit better, i believe that one was used already, but its still nicer than just hearing repetitive omg omg omg everywhere the pc goes.
Whatever they say, let it not be always calling out the same thing the same way over and over again.

Oh I agree with that.

I don’t feel it’s any better/worse with other races — all the lines get repetitive after a while.
Regardless, I’m all in favor of more variety and ANet adding new “idle dialogue” in the cities, especially near the TP/crafting stations, where (many) people have heard all the stories a gazillion times.
