I hope it's a mursaat trick
Has the player base not voiced enough that they want to go to the Crystal desert? .
Not exactly. There is a lot of interest in the Crystal Desert sure, but there’s huge interest in Jormag and Primordus as well – what with revisiting EOTN locations and the potential of meeting up with the dwarves. Plus I’ve seen a lot of ppl get excited about facing off against the DSD.
Whatever Dragon they picked would have had players voice that they wanted a different one. Primordus makes just as much sense, if not more since he is arguably the threat closest and most widespread.
Having said that, there is little evidence to say we are going to Ember to face off against the Primordus threat at this stage. Ember Bay is Mursaat territory last we knew and that puts Lazarus at the forefront.
All right- fine. I overreached when I claimed the majority of the player base wants a desert. But we did spend almost two years obsessing over Glint’s egg, half of Ascalon was nuked by Kralkatorrik, they recently revamped the Shatterer and there is a literal gate to the desert in Fields of Ruin, so I don’t see how Primordus makes as much sense as Kralkatorrik at this point. Although, there is that one Destroyer heart in Kessex Hills.
Just because everything seems to be leading to Prime doesn’t mean it will. It also doesn’t mean he’s the only enemy we need contend with.
He does make a lot of sense, though. There is as much reason to explore him as the crystal desert. The dragon lab, Rata Novus, the asura in general, the fact that Prime has been awake the longest and been doing…what? And just because a portion of the player base has expressed a want or desire doesn’t mean we all have. I’d love to go to the Crystal Desert. But I also would love underground, twisting, winding cavern maps. Multi level. Underground mushrooms could grow, making our mushroom mastery relevant. We may have to glide from one high cavern to the next or use the hot air updrafts coming off of lava flow to get higher.
You have to think of it from Anet’s perspective. They are continuing the mastery system and keeping old ones relevant as is shown by Bloodstone Fen. But what are a deserts defining features? Flat….flat…more flatness, maybe some dunes, maybe a couple small sandstone caves but mostly one level….
Remember during Season 1 when players kept complaining that Anet had forgotten about the Elder Dragons and we were going after all these totally unrelated minor threats instead? Then it turned out all the unrelated threats not only were related but were tied into the next Elder Dragon rising as well.
I think we’re back at that point. We’ve killed one dragon and now we’re trying to regroup and simply reacting to what’s coming at us, but sooner or later it will all tie together and we’ll be going after the dragons again.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Maybe after we kill Primordy, we’ll get some interaction with the Tengu and their city (pretty sure I read somewhere that they’re kinda dealing with destroyers in their walled of area).
Please give us a keyring…
Why do people say primordius is there? I think that’s stretching the obvious because if it’s fiery realm. Since it also houses a bloodstone I have hope we go there because of Lazarus and not primordius. I read several articles including the “official teaser” and there’s no mention of destroyers and rings if fire in a single paragraph
Edit: to clarify his domain is destruction. And his realm is underground. His minions are made of earth, with a burning hot core using fire as a favorable method of destruction. He even dove into the middle of the shiverpeaks for his last resting period

I take it you haven’t been doing the ‘scavenger hunt’ Current Event achievements?
That strongly implies Primordius is moving (underground) to the Ring of Fire islands, and we know that’s where we’re going next, so it seems likely.

I’m personally hoping that Lazarus is the one who kills Primordus to absorb more magic and the 2nd expansion focuses around him. Having each expansion be about destroying a dragon would get repetitive.

Of any dragon I would approve of doing that, Primordius is the ONLY dragon that would make me uninstall gw2 if they pulled a stunt like that

I have. But i stand by my point that its really.. No extremely cheap if we find primordius on the RoF, especially when neglecting lazarus and the bloodstone, since the RoF is a familiar terrain of the mursaat and lazarus is bloodstone hunting. Im not saying Prim wont be there, im just saying it would be a sore lazy writing.

This is what I was thinking. I’m not sure if Lazarus alone is powerful enough to end an elder dragon, even having absorbed all the magic from the bloodstone, but he’s definitely the best way for ANet to “get rid of” the dragons faster.
Maybe Dragon’s Watch will end up helping him by also fighting Primordus but unaware of Lazarus being there? I don’t think we could be allies with him. Not sure how that would work.
