So we know that there are 3 teams working on LW. T1 did Eps 1 and 4, T2 did Eps 2 and 5, and T3 did Ep 3 and will do 6. The problem is that Ep 3 is by far the worst out of all of them, both in terms of execution and in terms of the new map it added.

The storytelling in Ep 3 was the most scattershot and worst executed, the encounters and quests the worst designed, and the instances the least involved and most convoluted (where I use convoluted to mean difficult due to poor design rather than true skill requirement). Bitterfrost is the worst of the new maps, with no clear themeing, uneven pacing, wasted areas, badly arranged transit, excessive enemy density, inventory spam out the kitten and the worst event chains and hearts.

This makes me worried that the season will end in a fizzle. The team that has shown the least ability has been entrusted with the job of delivering a satisfying conclusion.

Bitterfrost is the worst of the new maps…

YMMV but I thought this until I played the new map for Episode 5.

Playing GW2 for the story is like expecting plot in a porno. You’ll be left disappointed.

Awesome Ep5 map was made by the same people who created boring Ember bay. The teams concist of living people, who learn on their mistakes. I think that Ep6 map will be definitely better than Bitterfrost.
From the story point I don’t really know. Ep5 just tossed a pile of kitten on the fan, and Ep6 team will have to deal with it. Judging by Ep5 storytelling, the living world climax will be disappointing and anticlimactic reguardless of what team handles it.

I’m not sure why it matters. Whatever is going on is unlikely to change because someone has a vague worry about the previous story + map they guess was done by the same team working on Episode 6.

What didn’t you like about Ep3? What don’t you like about Bitterfrost? I know what I would mean by “no clear theme” or “uneven pacing” or “wasted areas” or “badly arranged transit”, but I don’t know what the OP means by those.

In fact, I thought Lake Doric and its episode were the worst, or at least, that’s the one I barely got through once. I don’t like being forced to progress the map slowly to move the story forward. The hearts on LD copied the worst issues from the hearts I hated the most: few ways to progress, each way is slow, one heart requires being stealthed and cannot be completed on a single run (or at least, not that I was able to manage), and so on.

Even so, I wouldn’t care if the same team works on any other episode: perhaps they’ll learn from the constructive feedback, perhaps they’ll make different mistakes, or perhaps what I didn’t like was simply anomalous.

In short, the OP shouldn’t try to judge a single team by a single episode. And even so, they should offer constructive criticism about what they do want to see (or what they don’t).

John Smith: “you should kill monsters, because killing monsters is awesome.”

I don’t understand how you didn’t like bitterfrost. It was the only map where I felt there was always something to do, so fun and so addicting.

The Episode 5 map on the other hand… finding actual content is like finding a needle in a haystack. I tried to do the story today and instead spent hours trying running around not being able to find what I wanted to. I don’t know how on earth anyone can think it’s find to run around a map with close to no events, nothing fun to fight, nothing to find, and no clues as to how you’re supposed to get anywhere.

And before you tell me I’m dumb and just have no sense of exploration, I am a massive Breath of the Wild fan and the reason for that is because areas that are hard to get to require you to actually think strategically on how get around and it has a lot of fun content along the way. As apposed to the GW2 Episode 5 map, which doesn’t let me climb up 99% of the ways I try to climb, blocks off almost every place I try to go, and leaves me with nothing to do along the way.

So please someone tell me how they’re enjoying this Episode … I’d really like to find the motivation to finish this story.
