I’m not feeling Scarlet, I don’t think she’s that interesting (not that she couldn’t be), how ever I really like the ascalonians. I think they would make better and more interesting villains and possibly heroes.

If you do player housing I would like to have a house in that area, it’s beautiful and the music is amazing.

To be fair I suspected I should have posted this after doing The Edge Of The Mists Living Story ( I also didn’t do the Fractured LS, not sure if that was interesting but I’ve done everything else concerning Scarlet). That did add more dimensions to the character and it’s the right direction to go in.

However I still have a problem she does seem to just fit the stereotypical mad/eccentric villain archetype such as The Joker and Loki. I still think adding more stories concerning ascalons has more potential. I think they are more complex and it maybe hard to categorize them as villains, you also may feel some sympathy towards them. Yea that could apply to Scarlet but the ascalonians seem more tragic i.e Scarlet was simply looking for knowledge and went mad, the ascalonians were just defending their homeland (debatable) and got slaughtered. I also like the stories and events that happened concerning them such as tech such as the searing cauldron etc.

Having played GW1 for a number of years, I love the Ascalonians as well. However, the issue is they can’t create a story really with them. Essentially, the foefire turned them all into ghosts who reanimate when they are slain.

The issue is that they see literally everyone as an enemy to their kingdom because they do not learn or evolve. (The way I see it, when they are slain, they have no memory when they rise again of how they were killed) Pretty much, they believe that Ascalon still exists as it did when they were alive. That means they see everything as an invader.

They would have no goal for world domination or destruction. But, I agree, Ascalon is awesome.

I got some ideas for a story I might post here or in another thread. I think you might like it.

It’d be nice if some of the LS went to Ascalon, but I don’t think the Ascalonians themselves would be an interseting focal point of LS.

I think if they did go back into Ascalon, it’d have something to do with dragon minions getting stronger, or maybe have a few LS there as a build to opening up the Crystal Desert. (That door beside Ebonhawke is just waiting to be opened).

I would like to see more of Ascalon—specifically its northern reaches—the Blood Legion homelands. Additionally, there will probably be more story regarding the new alliance between Ebonhawk and the charr, since Ebonhawk is controlling the entrance to the crystal desert and whenever that opens up, it will require political moves on the part of charr and humans, mainly.
