WP sums it up quite nice. I hope the suspecions are true, crystal desert hints are there, perhaps they are too obvious.

I only noticed it now, but behind the portal there seems to be a seal with a cobra on it

Does any1 remember if there was any other mark like this in GW?

Those three lit symbols exactly match the three symbols you needed to light to Ascend in GW: Prophecies.

The patch seems to lead us to the Crystal Desert with the concept of ascension. The symbols are an indicator that we may end up adventuring in the Crystal Desert in the future. Especially with the return of Turai Ossa (assuming that the ghost in the trailer is Ghostly Hero) who once was the guide who lead the players into the Crystal Desert in GW1.

‘’for many, he is simply the Ghostly Hero, a champion who stalks the troubled wastelands north of Elona, eternally ready to stand beside its heroes.’’ There was some speculation back in time that Turai could have gone somewhere else after the ending of the ascension arc in GW1. However, according to the official manuscripts in Nightfall, he will supposedly be there for all eternity, ready to help those in need. It would be nostalgic for many to return to the Crystal Desert in that fashion.
