Is Evon plotting an uprising?
[DARK]
Wouldn’t surprise me if he was at least plotting a murder…
… and some of these Lionguard are kittenbags. Heirlooms and Belongings are literally dropping in my inventory and they go “Hand it over THIEF and we’ll go easy on you” except the nice Sylvari on Bloodtide. I make a point to visit him just because of this.
Yes, he could take advantage of the situation, but you have to remember he is technically part of the Lionguard now. If he tries any sort of uprising, the Captain’s Council can just take his business and all of his wealth. Not to mention, they get to shoot him.
On top of that, I’m not sure about how much public support he would get either. He was right about Scarlet attacking, but he did the exact same thing as the captains. Which is nothing in end. I doubt he will win over any hearts either, when word spreads that he shut down that Asura gate being used to evacuate civilians to save himself, leaving Captains Shud and the people she and the players were helping there to die.

Well to be fair: What could he do?
He does not have an army.
He hold no power to organize the defense of Lion’s Arch. All he could do would be to alert the Council, which he did and they ignored him.,

People with a lot of money to throw around can get a lot done. With or without the approval of the higher ups, whether it be in fantasy or irl.
- He could have told everyone to get out of town while they still could. He told the player and the captains, but he didn’t seem to tell the populace, as far as we know.
- With all of his wealth, he could have sponsored and funded extra security for LA.
- But since he hates the Lionguard, that would never happen, so he could have hired some extra “security” for the BLC HQ.
- He could have moved his employees and goods out of town, especially since he knew an attack was coming.
- Heck, he could have moved himself out of town.
- He could have made contingency plans for himself and his employees incase said future attack.
But nope. I think he did the right thing about warning the players and the Captain’s Council, but he did nothing else. He has the money and influence to do a lot of things, especially to prepare himself and his workers, but in the end all he did was sit on his hands, and now he’s whining that no one did anything. When, in the end, he could have done a lot himself to prepare for the attack.
Hope so… gives me an excuse to kill him
You’ve got the idea, but the wrong plot. Evon is a coward and a fool and wouldn’t be able to pull it off. That waste of space Kiel? Hah, she’s almost as incompetent. No no no, our real concern is the Consortium…. All this time they’ve been waiting and setting the scene for a corporate takeover of LA and the BLTC. That device Scarlett looked into? Omadd has been working for the consortium, and they needed a puppet to advance their plans. He made a device which would melt the mind and brainwash the victim. Then they set “Scarlett” loose and let her do the dirty work for them. Its all culminated with her letting loose the breach maker. With LA drained (and a lot of new space for housing projects I might add), the Consortium are ready to step back into the spotlight, and “save our sorry butts” from Scarlett. After which, they will dispose of their pawn, and we will hail our new overlords, displacing the captains council and reigning in a new era of the consortium trading co.
Our own fault for voting a lion guard captain into the council.

This is a very plausible explanation for why Scarlet decided to kill the non-combatants in Lion’s Arch. It is possible that the she has a deal with the Consortium (and possibly the Captains Council).
For the last 2 weeks, I’ve been thinking that our red-headed Sylvari villaness has been acting out of character. The previous updates didn’t feature Scarlet killing people for the sake of killing others. She had always tortured or killed people for the sake of her scientific experiments a la Inquest (such as trying to fry Lord Faren in a cauldron to see how fast he could die or the Legendary Clockheart project). Plus, people who commit genocide often do it out of racial hatred, religious hatred, or political hatred. Scarlet isn’t part of a religious ideology, and she had no hatred for the varied peoples of LA before this update.
She didn’t need to command her minions to kill the people who weren’t a threat to them. She could of just commanded her minions to set up the miasma containers to keep people away from the drill. She could of also commanded her lackeys to troll the survivors in LA. There is a good chance that someone is paying Scarlet to do these horrendous acts. Her payment: She gets to drill the bay in LA for the leylines.
So I’ve noticed a lot of anti-government behavior from Evon. Now more then ever. We all know him and Kiel don’t get along, but they have been rivals for a long time. There is more.
During the evacuation, players help Evon save his caravans. Once his goods are nearly secure, a captain tells him to hurry up so they can use the last gate for evacuations before it closes. Evon then spites the captain by going through the gate and closing it trapping the captain!
Back at Vigil Keep, he is screaming about how he was right and the blood is on Magnus, gets into a fight with the Lion Guard soldier and helps our favorite robot golem just to spite others.
People like saying Evon has no power, but they clearly forget money is power. Who are the richest characters? Evon and Queen Jenna. Evon has possibly more as the human citizens pay for Jenna’s bills.
With LA gone there is going to be a major power opportunity if people blame the captains for LA being in ruins. guess who would take advantage?
The Lionguard and the Seraph have been a little too buddy-buddy during this update. I wouldn’t be surprised if Gnashblade is trying to plan a revolt because Queen Jennah’s minions have been commanded to try to take over. Why do I think that? The Seraph are being a little too involved with Ho-Ho-Tron, who already served his time during Wintersday. The LA refugee camp isn’t part of the Seraph jurisdiction, but the Seraph took authority as if they were in DR!
And for those who say that they wouldn’t trust Ho-Ho-Tron: He could of been assigned to only help the LA prisoners who were affected by the miasma instead of being allowed to help all of the civillians.
Apologies to Queen Jennah’s fans, but I don’t see her as a benign, sincere person. Just because the queen is nice on the surface doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have a need to expand her kingdom. Her image is just too Mary Sue perfect (and yes, I did play the human storyline as well as the Cadecus Manor story). When people act too perfect, there is a good chance they are hiding something. She acts too much like the real life politicians we see here in the US.
Prior to this update, there was talk among the overtly-religious humans in Divinity’s Reach about how LA became so seedy because of the pirates. For those who aren’t familiar with history, being a pirate / privateer in ancient times was a way to turn one’s back on the monarchy and the Pope / Inquisition. Being a pirate meant FREEDOM, and it’s also interesting to note that privateers were instrumental to the birth of the United States of America. Basically, Lion’s Arch in the game is alot like a proto-democracy / proto-United States. The people of DR didn’t like LA for the excess freedom it represented (similar to certain overtly religious RL countries I shall not name at this time). I wouldn’t be surprised if Queen Jennah thought the same as the people of DR. In ancient times, people who followed monarchs often copied the monarch’s thinking patterns. Monarchs were the original celebrities after all.

Idk, when your minions include cut-throat pirates, twisted magi-tech kill-bots, Nightmare Court (who are literally puppy-kicking evil types), and Krait (who’s usual m.o. when dealing with anything not krait is to kill or enslave it). I’d think it would be rather difficult to get them to NOT go on a murderific rampage through LA when you tell them to attack it.
