I just completed the Uprooting Iron Marches portion of the Living Story with my mesmer. It was, in a word, evil.

Just the first stage, for example. Kill a Gravelash outside Monger’s Sink, flamethrowers provided. The event never stops spawning. As soon as it’s done, poof! There it goes again. Which is, I suppose, better than stuck and waiting for hours.

But when the event starts, Gravelash spawns and 20 or so tendrils appear. Each tendril throwing rains of AoE conditions — so when the event finishes, move NOW or be downed. The tendrils respawn very very often, so twice I saw the event fail because we couldn’t kill the tendrils fast enough to be able to actually damage the elite Gravelash (especially with a few tendrils being elites and a champion).

When I first played through the event this evening, there were only four or five players actually doing the event. But we still got a champion tendril to kill before we could damage the Gravelash. The second time through the event, I estimate about a dozen players (and in case you’re wondering why I did it a second time, I was trying to help resurrect the downed players and got sucked in). But that second time, nothing stronger than an elite. Lots of normal tendrils, a veteran or two… and still the time ran out and event failed.

And then it started again. Immediately.

So honestly, is this how it’s supposed to work now? I mean, we did get a patch today specifically addressing the events here.

Side note, the Mordrem champion that is up on the hill seemed to be constant as well.

While the first day in iron marches was total crap with things not working, now the first 2 stages are pointless. Flame the guy a bit, wait for fail, and move on. Go to next stage speak to 2 npcs and move on again…….

Fgs isn’t much better based on timing. Ran a character through the chain in moderate sized group – was sort of fun. Loaded another character – all events done so just destroyed the totem…… That in itself shows instance would have been better.

The event starts each time a player talks to the Charr NPC and asks about helping out. That’s why it seems like it immediately restarts (because players are immediately restarting it).

If the Husk thing is an elite, then you have scaled it up to the point where it is going to be a nasty, nasty fight.

I waited for the mob of people to rush over to the champion fight on the hill above it, then me and 1 other person easily did the husk event because he was a puny veteran.

Aha, that actually makes a lot more sense, thanks.

I was under the impression that it was a timer-style event. So the instant restart seemed to be… very broken.

If the Husk thing is an elite, then you have scaled it up to the point where it is going to be a nasty, nasty fight.

Yeah. No argument there, both times I played through the event it was just a ton of not fun.

I just completed the Uprooting Iron Marches portion of the Living Story with my mesmer. It was, in a word, evil.

I just did this LS chapter 3 months after it was released because the content in the earlier chapters was so tedious and annoying, it took me this long to build up enough interest to try it again.

Suffice it to say, this brought back every ounce of aggravation and annoyance back again. And this is actually supposed to be working now? I can’t imagine what the frustration was like when it was broken.

I don’t know who thought it was a good idea to put LS content in the OPEN WORLD but I pray this was a one time experiment. Judging by all of the of bug posts and complaints with the implementation of this concept, the smart thing would be to never see this terrible idea ever repeated again, just like the infamous Southsun Karka event.

I was lucky and found a handful of people for the champ and one person doing the final step. I honestly extend my pity to anyone trying to do this content even later than I did. Have fun soloing it, you poor kittens.

Pretty much summarizes every piece of content involving Mordremoth mobs that I’ve seen so far.

While it can’t be soloed, it doesn’t have to be. Win or lose, when the event timer runs out you get the green star to progress to the next step.

No, that’s not really fun or empowering, but it means it’s not impossible either.

The whole thing of tying story progression to open world dynamic events was a bad idea anyways. Leave it in instances, where it belongs.
