I thought they were just taking a break for the feature pack and to work out the bugs, but now people were saying that was a mid-season finale and that S2 is already halfway over. Is this true?? If so, why was S1 a year and a half long and this one is only going to be 8 episodes? I was actually enjoying the LW content…

I believe during an interview about the break someone said mid-season break doesnt mean middle of the season. We could have a few mid-season breaks within the season.

I have difficulty in seeing the sense behind that.

Oh okay thank you! A gaming website (I forget which one) said that what was already complete was the “first half of the season” and I was extremely concerned. Thanks for the clarification!

We were told that this break is a “mid-season” break.

But we do not know whether that means middle as in “dead center middle” (aka 50%), or if it means “between the beginning and the end” – which can mean anywhere between “we’re only 1% done” to “we’re 99% done”.

I am hoping that it is only 1/3rd complete, otherwise I do not see us beating Mordremoth in Season 2, and the outcome will be like if Season 1’s grand finale was Cutthroat Politics. However, going any longer than 12 episodes (or 16 depending on how it’s done) I feel will be stretching it out too long when we have the rather rushed storytelling we saw in the first four episodes (especially 3), which already felt like they’re marking off a checklist more than telling a proper story.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I wouldn`t even be suprised if it is really the mid-season break, as this is the middle of the season 2 story.

The reason for that is simply the pace in which they put out content and how fast they resolve single plotthreads feels very rushed and if my predictions about how this season is supposed to go (only in a rough matter, in terms of what the end result is supposed to be), then it would work without a hinch.

I mean, right now they set up a plot and resolve it in the next second. They don`t linger on a problem but brush through everything as fast as possible.
At that pace the mid season break could really mean that and it would be sad if i am right.
I really hope they use the break and really slow down the pace and restructure their approach on how they want to tell the story, because at the moment it is good on the micro level, but on the macro level it just falls appart.

When I saw it was the mid season finale I was very surprised in that I thought we were halfway done, but thinking about it I don’t see why they would only make it 8 episodes long so I don’t think we a exactly halfway, probably much less. Saying that though there really isn’t any way of knowing until the end of the season. I do hope we don’t take on mordremoth soon though, I was looking forward to the fact that it would take a year or more until we actually confront him.

they will drag this out for a year with 4-8 week breaks in there for random wvw mini seasons which take 20 mins to complete the meta total wvw time.

Well with 3 month breaks in-between every 2 months of LS releases, the end of the LS would put us at almost a full year if we consider the first 4 episodes as 1/3 of the total. As such I think it makes sense that there are 12 episodes total with 3 month breaks in between each set of 4.

My thoughts as well, although I’d always assumed mid was derived from middle.

That’s actually by design. You see the problem with the previous wvw seasons was that players would spend all their time doing wvw achievements to the detriment of the wvw. You see you need people working together in wvw not running about killing dolyaks. So by adding a simple achievement (which I assume is used to determine whether you get tickets or not) focus can be kept on the wvw.
It requires a slight change in your thinking, as you seem to think of content as being achievement based or at least achievement focused. Granted a lot of ANet’s content has been structured that way, but the wvw tournament is not focused on achievement it’s focused on wvw.

It does, but it doesn’t mean the dead center. I think in this case, mid would be better from *mid*st. I certainly hope it doesn’t mean we’re only getting 4 more chapters this season due to their short length. Then again, they aren’t really that much longer than the personal story chapters now that I think about it… Still, I’d like to think there’s more to the season, especially considering how long season 1 was. (Will there be a season 3? Or only when another major format change occurs?)

i think this was 1/3 or 1/4 look at s1 and if you look at frst 4 ep you can see a lot clifhangers to fill other 3 parts like rydlock in the mists(i think this can be made intro in expansion not LS)what was in zeppeline whay it was burnd out,end cinematic of ep2 , master of peace quest , final cutseen (,,Big Spoiler,, dont know a lot of it but it is something to do to scarlet original plan (b4 she was crazy)to make 2 dragons fight each others) so ther you go if they dont rush tru it they got a lot of things to do

Well it would be wonderful if we could have these numerous story lines playing out in unison, since they’re relatively varied so we don’t get tied down necessarily with the same people and same places. The reality of course is that content is time consuming to make, I guess ANet could restructure themselves a bit and create a number of small teams to work on these various plot lines with their own release schedules but it seems like ANet is focused on the main Living Story.
