Just curious as I have not done any of the living world stuff. If I continue to abstain from doing it will it ever disappear or will I not be able to access new living world stuff until the original is completed?

I’m trying to find an answer too, just about if Living World content in general is temporary or if it’s a storyline I can start at any time whenever I get to it? Not sure why I can’t find a clear answer anywhere but good to see I’m not the only one.

I just read in a guide on The Razing F&F content that stated “You don’t need to complete any of the previous month’s Living Story achievements to participate in any Flame and Frost: The Razing content. However, that content is all still there if you missed it and want to play it now.”

It didn’t say how long it would continue to be available, but for the time being it appears we can access any of the F&F content released so far whenever we want to experience it. Everything else I read seems to imply it is going away once the entire F&F active storyline is over, leaving behind permanent changes without leaving behind permanent story content available for newcomers.

Did I read that correctly ArenaNet? Can anyone confirm?

I read someone that they said it will eventually disappear when the next living story comes. Chapter-wise, you can do any of them at any time until it concludes, which might be next week, we’ll see.

As the Flame and Frost storyline has progressed, past content within that story has been available. You can still play through that previously released content.

The Flame and Frost storyline will culminate in the new dungeon, the Molten Weapons Facilities. This dungeon is available for a limited period of time.

When the storyline for Flame and Frost ends, the Flame and Frost content will go away.

Of course, we are planning more content for Living World, with new stories to experience, and you will get to experience that content even if you haven’t participated in the events of Flame and Frost.

When the storyline for Flame and Frost ends, the Flame and Frost content will go away.

Why?

No, seriously, why?

Why remove content some/many enjoy and many haven’t completed, especially forced-group content that some people will have trouble getting done in limited time?

Why?

Because it’s called “Living World”, not “Static World”. Once a story ends, it’s gone, the story is ended. It’s the same reason that the Ancient Karka can no longer invade Lion’s Arch, because we killed him back in November and his body is laying encased in a lava-hardened shell at the bottom of the nest in Southsun Cove; the same reason why the Lion’s Arch fountain is whole and Mad King isn’t popping out of it any more. This game has living parts which come, and then go. If you miss it, too bad.

Whilst I can see it’s a shame that the content will go, I remember some people commenting, before the game’s release even, that Dynamic Events should change the world permanently, and not just cycle back around. That’s just never going to be feasible on such a large scale from what I can see, however, what we see here seems to be trying to fulfill that desire in a small way. Of course it’s going to annoy those players who disagreed in the first place, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time, can you.

Well, I just hope ArenaNet can build the game so they have such content available every month. So that one dungeon instance will go away, but that another will come in it’s place.

I’m all for temporary content as part of the living world chapters.

But(!) I expect the events of those stories to leave their permanent mark on the existing world as they end. Its one thing to have an elaborate story chapter about an invasion in the shiverpeaks if after the fact theres a new homestead with some content and a cave complex to explore that was the site of great conflict in the past (i.e. the remains of the weapons facility after we raze it). There should be some DEs or hearts, PoIs or vistas, some npcs telling the story of what happened there. That’s living story to me. Not wiping the slate clean and everything returning to status quo at the end of the episode (that’s saturday morning cartoons from the 90s).

I cannot comment on how the aftermath of F&F will look like and maybe my concerns are unfounded. But the constant reminder that the content ill go away at the end of the chapter just sits wrong with me, as if they havent planned for and included any lasting content.

The Flame and Frost storyline will culminate in the new dungeon, the Molten Weapons Facilities. This dungeon is available for a limited period of time.

This is a big concern for me.
I understand that this is a living story, however, think about all the other dungeons that we have. The story becomes outdated after we finished our story quest, but the dungeon stays.

If this Molten Weapons Facilities dungeon is only available for a limited period of time, this would be extremely disappointing for most players. I would like to have this dungeon added to the list of dungeons indefinitely.

Please consider this, ANet! I understand the removal of all the other living world content, but the dungeon should stay, just as how the explorable mode being a little of an aftermath of the event happened in the story mode.

Arenanet…
You MUST keep your original notion of a Living World that is ever changing and always affecting the game as your core foundation. If some miss out on content, well we all don’t see every football game played every weekend do we? I myself didn’t get the game right away and probably missed out on content but that’s okay. Forever repeatable content? No thank you…
Thanks and cheers all.

It boggles my mind that they are doing away with the DUNGEON completely. All that design work and coding and etc will be wiped. Such a waste. Would have been fun to keep playing it later on.
