Is new xpac coming soon ? (*spoiler)
No. Come back in a year (or in january, when it will be announced).
Assuming the next expansion follows the same pattern as the previous one, Season 3 will keep coming out until we’re the threshold of the expansion to kill the next dragon. However, we’re only 2 chapters in. Come back in 6 more chapters (8 total) before speculating that the expansion is ready. Of course, nothing says they have to have only 8 chapters. I’ll be perfectly happy if they have 6 or 10 total (though more is always better) if that is what it takes to tell the story they want.
Of course there’s a new xpac coming, it just depends on what your definition of “soon” is.
Will there be another LS season or will we jump to the next xpac after this?
Personally I predict the next expansion will come out fall/winter 2017 with the current LS season spanning until a few months before the xpac.
If I remember correctly, not long ago someone posted minutes or a report for an NCSoft shareholders meeting, where the NCSoft board were strong-arming ArenaNet to increase the pace with which expansion packs were rolled out.
I think the XP will be here much earlier than expected, maybe mid-2017. Given the living season is being rolled out on a slower schedule, I think you’ll find the XP follows its conclusion almost immediately.
I also think it likely that the bundling together of dragon menaces could have been a response to that instruction.. or it could have been Anet’s plan all along shrug

A Dev (Mike O’Brien, I believe) statement (answering a question about the future expansion) from the recent AMA:
Remember, NCSOFT is our parent company, but decisions about GW2 come from us. Someday we’ll have a lot to talk about regarding the next expansion pack, but not today, and not any time soon.
Thus, no strong-arming, and the next expansion won’t be here anytime ‘soon’. It will release when ArenaNet feels it is ready.

It won’t be for a while I assume. You can farm for the items of the month, if you want a reason to log in. Or make alts like me. Except I’m running out of professions to play. whatever
If we are lucky the announcement will be launched January 2017.
At least Arenanet found with LW3 a good vehicle to deliver content that keeps players busy. It seems the current season will provide us with everything (maps, gear and weapons, masteries, fractals and maybe even raids) except of new specialisations and races.

If the number of LW episodes in season 3 matches 2, there would be 6 more episodes. They have stated and thus far successfully met their goal of one episode every 2 months. Which puts the final episode of season 3 in September 2017.
The expansion would likely come at least 2 months after that.
So based on a bunch of seemingly reasonable assumptions that are subject to being wrong, I wouldn’t expect a new expansion before November 2017. Incidentally, that would be nearly exactly 2 years after HoT, which might have been their goal all along.
As long as the expansion has the level of quality that this LS3 has, bring it whenever.
