It probably happend last time aswell
“In brighter times, Elonian prides gathered around massive “ancestor trees,” where they believed the spirits of their forebears watched over them. According to arcane scholars, the fruit of these trees was seen as divine, possibly as a way to pass down spiritual wisdom from one generation to the next. " From the GW2 wiki on Centaurs.
Back in GW too, I recall Centaurs having a big tree at their home that they considered almost holy.

Yep, there was a chain of quests where you helped one of the Elonian centaur prides defend their tree from nightfall.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
IIRC, in GW1’s version of Dry Top, there was a stump from what must have been a ridiculously large tree that all the centaurs were defending.

Wait… so… They’ve been eating prenatal Sylvari for centuries? To “Pass down wisdom?”
…
THE MONSTERS!

I’m sure you mean that as a joke, but what if you’re right? Maybe a bit backwards, but right?
What if the wisdom DOES pass down through the fruit? Memories and thoughts pulled from the mists, collected into the fruits, and gained by eating them. Add that idea to Ventari tending to the sapling Pale Tree, and it suddenly makes a LOT of sense. The Pale Tree and her sylvari being connected to the dream is due to her being grown as a holy tree to pass down wisdom (and Ventari’s teachings).
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
I don’t think the centaurs were around during the last dragon rise. Supposedly only five sapient races survived then (jotun, Seers, mursaat, Forgotten, dwarves).
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
