July 1st Perdictions & Expectations
The questions as I see them are:
1) How many maps?
2) What level of map?
3) What style of map? (How big, are there hearts etc.)
4) What new resources?
5) What features?
So here is what I expect and what I hope
1) I expect one new map / I hope for more.
2) Level 80 / I hope for a range of levels
3) Southsun style map, no hearts small number of dynamic events mostly for groups, don’t go in alone / traditional map with some standard content and some tricky group events. Hearts appear after living world moves from that map. Some heart vendors sell armour with a new skin.
4) One new ingredient, and my long shot bet is occasional azurite drops from ore nodes / two new ingredients. Maybe the azurite drops would be nice too.
5) A new world boss / two new world bosses, one for organised groups, one Jormag level of difficulty (ie, not hard, but there’s a good chance you’ll get downed) and a new dungeon.
With only one image to clue us in on what is ahead for the beginning of season 2 living story I would like to start a thread that focuses only on the first part. Not the entire next story but just the first patch to come in July.
Lost of people are saying a new map. The image certainly hints to that. Though what do we want in a new map. I’m hoping that we have some new hearts. While the south sun content was alright it felt as though the event karma train was not worth running in the beginning. Only with the introduction of the Karka Queen dose South Sun get any kind of attention. Hearts not only provide opportunity to new players but having new armor skins to go with the karma rewards would be great.
A new meta event would be nice though. Can’t say I would not like the opportunity to add more chest rewards considering the new timers limit how much you get done.
A new city would be cool. We are approaching territory of a possible existence of a second Pale Tree. If we are investigating the “sound” when scarlet died it would make sense to head either North or East of Brisband Wildlands.
Well that’s all I got. Your thoughts?
Well, if you’re a sylvari and pick story spoiler...Where life goes, so too should you, you know for a fact there are other trees, also in gw1 it directly says the cave rhonen(sp) got the pale trees seed from, was *FULL* of seeds..
Well, Belinda said there was a mounting expedition do deal with black market kittens in “northern tarnished coast” aka brisban wildlands So that’s pretty clear we’re heading in that direction, added to it that we know Mordermoth...is awake now. We’ll likely have some event/meta=event series of attacking the fort, entering *maybe) a smaller dungeon version of part of the new zone, clearing a path as it were, then later we’ll gain actual access and start a eventual campaign towards the bugger and likely stumble across some other lovely surprises. Maybe some white mantle cells to boot as well !

Though no time soon, i can’t help but think we’ll be getting a new dragon Champion to fight along the way…
I just hope we actually get to fight an Elder Dragon, not kill him pathetically with cannons and an airship and stuff. That made me mad. Shoot, Destiny’s Edge fought Kralkatorrik by themselves with little-to-no external help. Yet when you fight Zhaitan, the big baddie of your personal story and the boss of Arah, you kill him while he is “helpless”, holding on for dear life to a giant tower?
Sad and utterly disappointing.
It looks like the gate goes from one of the Maguuma provinces which makes alot of sense. We also saw the line run through Metrica in the S1 final video clip so I don’t think sticking a level 80 zone there makes a huge amount of sense with the way the map is structured.
My guess is either a 15-25 zone, or a 25-35 zone if they want to seriously expand the map westwards. We only have one 15-25 map for both the Sylvari and the Asura and no 25-35 map. This is something all the other 3 races have.
predictions: i will spend a few extra hours checking out new content the first week of july
expectations: western tengu, the druidic jungle tree of melandru vs a far more vicious nightmare court, some crap white mantle dungeon, and skritt pirates… you heard me
I really hope they put in a bloodstone dungeon, and don’t rehash the lore.
I’m not sure on the Nightmare Court though… If the Caledon Sylvari aren’t aware of another Pale tree it would make sense for those who fell to nightmare there having a different name. Probably just going to use it as a cop out though
By the hint, it really looks like we’re going to the jungle to possibly fight the dragon. Speculating on the story, I would like to be helped by someone more interesting than freaking Rox or Braham or the detective girls, tbh. Yesterday, I saw a person I had totally forgotten – Dougal Keane from the first Guild Wars 2 book. He was freaking awesome there and says that he still craves adventure in the game, I’d like some of him if not this patch, then later. Also, maybe it’s time to get Destiny’s Edge off their kitten again.
Anet really needs to redeem themselves IMO.
First they need to make LA a server only city, i’d love to see all cities that way, but LA for sure.
Second, if they only add a single map after 4 months of no real updates, i’ll be extremely disappointed. I’m not expecting a new race or even new skills.
The wardrobe and QoL stuff, should have been in game from day one. While it’s an update, it’s one that was sorely missing from launch. The update for the gauntlet and Labyrinth are fairly decent, even though there are a ton of complaints over Boss Blitz. The move to the megaserver is really a bad joke to me, one i hope goes away, but i won’t hold my breath.
The future of this game is now at a pivotal point for me, what this patch brings will make the difference of whether i walk away or stick it out.
My hope is they add new maps as time goes on. Start in Brisbane with some stuff there, liberate one of the portals from bandits or whatever and enter the new zone which will be based at level 25-35. Do stuff there then open a 35-45 zone. And so on so forth. With other updates adding more permanent content.
That way new players can play the content as they level up and don’t need to be at 80 to play, or get upscaled
