You listened to his recordings? So you know he had it coming, since he was basically using them as fodder for his research.

Asura are not particularly ethical though, by human standards, and Zinn was unethical by asuran standards.

Zinn was an amoral scientist, just like those that experimented on the Sylvari. He was warned and got what was coming to him. For such an intelligent species they sure do make stupid mistakes and don’t seem to learn from them. And these are the guys who think they are so superior that they should rule/govern the other races in the world, thinking they are above all and everything? These guys, who work on advancement for the sake of being better than their peers instead of the advancement of science in general? Asura aren’t scientists, they are narcisists at best, egomaniacal at worst.

Got to remember…Zinn DID make 6 very powerful Golems…4 of which attempted to assassinate important people. MOX was the only one that was rational…GOX was just…well…“I can be mon-goose dog” if you talk to GOX 2.0. He wasn’t much smarter in GW1.

In fact, he was banished forever from Asuran society…Blimm willingly joined him during the War in Kryta, but stayed behind to help work with Kryta afterwards. He is buried in the Divinity’s Reach Catacombs.

If anything, I think the Druids were in the wrong here. True, Zinn’s typical asuran attitude didn’t help much… but he had a point – it’s his tyria too.

Well yes it is, but he wasn’t corresponding with them in the mail. He was in their back yard doing things they didn’t like. I don’t care what my neighbor does in his yard, but I would be pretty mad at him if he started cutting down my trees because ‘this is his Earth too, you know’

While the NPCs hadn’t caused any physical harm yet, they had done the damage the moment they intruded on druid lands. The very fact that the entire living story (including all the NPCs, us, Primordus, and even Balthazar) is taking place in that map is kittening the druids off. So the druids aren’t entirely in the wrong here.

He made 4 fancy golems (I wouldn’t call G.O.X. fancy), two he was forced to make at proverbial gunpoint and one was the one pointing that gun. Only 3 were sent as assassins. By Joko apparently.

In the wardbough event the druids just attack the npcs out of nowhere and then blame you and the npcs for being intruders even after the npc leader says we meant no harm. They can all go die for all I care.

If you do The Druid Stone backpack achievement chain, you eventually find out that the Wardbough had turned evil due to malevolent energies that have recently permeated the area.

In other words, Primordus’, Balthazar’s, the mercenaries, and the Vigil’s presence have resulted in kittening the minds of the druids.

The Wardbough and the Angry Nature Spirits are exceptions, not the rule. Most druids are more amiable, like those we talk with.

Zinn is an unbeliever in Balthazar. His life was short, his achievements are dust and his memory is that of a swindler and bully. He won’t be missed. Balthazar be praised!

Zinn’s life was actually very long. He was an renowned golemancer already in 1078 AE, and he died in 1175 AE. That’s almost 100 years later.

And exceptional asuran lifespans are only 120. So he had to be in his young twenties / late teens by GW1 in order to live so long.

So chances are strong he would have died within a decade by natural causes anyways.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

120 years compared to that of a God or the ‘Druids’? He was a pup, he accomplished nothing.

Balthazar hadn’t exactly accomplished much either. How many wars did he win, again?

Couldn’t even beat his non-divine half-brother.

Balthazar does not win wars, he feeds on them and shows up when the feeding is good. If anything, he is a parasitic god. An Antihero of Tyria. His presence can turn a fair fight with a possible draw, into an absolute bloodbath. I don’t expect much out of the writing team at ArenaNet seeing as they already butchered a perfectly fine story when they created this monstrosity that is the current GW2 story from the ashes of the now absolutely ruined GW1 story.

However, when you stretch the accomplishments of Balthazar out against the eons that he has been on Tyria, it is easy to see his existence as that of inaction. Were/are the six gods all that active in the day to day life of Tyrians? No. At least not to the extent that mortals would recognize. Have GW2 players even met the Glory of GW1 players or even come close to the same challenges? Absolutely not.

As for the speculation of Balthazar failing against Menzies, who is to tell where that will end up. Who we know as ‘Balthazar’ now could even be Menzies posing as Balthazar. Or maybe Dhuum has risen and Menzies and he (aftering defeating Balthazar) are now gutting the Underworld and taking Grenth’s seat. I still believe from my time in GW1 (a speculation after seeing Abbadon in Nightfall), that the ‘Gods’ are not the same species. More of a collectorate of different species from different worlds connected to Tyria by the Mists. Balthazar’s relationship as the God of War would make him closely related in temperament to that of Menzies, Dhuum and even Abbadon. So making him a loose cannon in GW2 is fine and dandy, as long as his road to ‘power’ is constantly gaining more power until he literally becomes unstoppable. Antiheroes are great for story telling. Fear can be worshiped, hatred can drive you to heroic deeds or stupid decisions— and sometimes the most kitten Antihero is what you need when the world is going to kitten.

Bathe* in the presence of Balthazar’s fires. For in these fires were forged the chains of Abbadon. From these fires came the orders to conquer and civilize the world of Tyria. Focus not on the race chosen to fulfill the will of the Gods, but the progress made. There was a time in the distant past that Tyria made Heroes, that time has passed and has yet to show its face again.
