Has anyone (other than Dulfy) actually managed to kill him in Trib mode? My infite coin is reaching infinite and I haven’t even managed a single strike on him yet.

Please dont tell me you did it in four nano-seconds with just a wooden spoon because that’s just annoying.

I dont need tips either, I’m not going through the whole zone just to try again…

Judging by the number of people who have King Toad weapons… yes. People have beaten him.

In tribulation mode…?

Not to gloat, but I have completed it three times (I only wanted three skins).
I honestly found the King Toad to be the easiest part of Zone 3 and I found actually getting to him to be much harder…

Have you defeated him in normal mode so that you know, in general, what to expect and how to approach the fight? If you haven’t, I recommend doing that so that you can have a knowledge of the fight in tribulation mode, because he is defeated in the same manner.

If you are familiar with the fight, I recommend standing on one of the small rocks until King Toad unleashed one of his waves. Immediately after that, jump to him and start whacking at his jewel. I’d also recommend putting your “1 attack” on autoattack.
If you see him start an animation that means he’s about to unleash another wave, stop attacking the jewel. Back up to the back of his large pad and dodge toward him when he unleashes the wave. You should be able to avoid the wave and also stay on the pad. After that, pick up the jewel and retreat/wait for the time when he opens his mouth so that you can throw the piece in.

After you’ve thrown the piece in, you of course just whack him with your autoattack until he dies. Another tip I have is to use your elite Moto’s Finger if you have it. The skill does much more damage than your autoattack. You can only use it once per life, but you’ll likely be dying here multiple times anyway. I definitely did. However, with a little patience and time to learn how to dodge the waves (which I think is the key), you should be able to kill him after 2-3 jewel fragments if you use Moto’s Finger.

King Toad is extremely easy… whack him and grab a crystal, jump backwards to the rock. Wait for him to shake his head and start jumping towards him while throwing the crystal into his mouth. Whack away when he’s stunned. Rinse and repeat.

Not hard.

King toads attacks are all telegraphed.

If he looks right he will stomp to the right, move to the left of the middle platform and dodge once (to the right) through the wave
he looks left, reverse above

The left and right looks are a good chance to hit his ruby to gain what you need to throw in his mouth.

he squats: he is going to double jump, easiest to move back to the small rocks in the lake then move back onto the middle platform when its done
moves his head back and forth then opens, throw crystal – if you cant get a crystal in time move to one side of the platform and dodge when the toad looks to the side after he closes his mouth.

King Toad is just as easy in Tribulation Mode, as he is in normal mode. The only added difficulty is that a bit of lag on the lily pads now means instant death. And boy does that happen a lot. But once you make it to his platform, if you don’t mess up, you should not die any more. He’s the easiest part about TM I would say. All bosses are.

Jump over / dodge his attacks. You dont have to go back to the rock.

Yes, i’ve beaten him probably 7 times. It’s not really harder then in normal mode is it? you’re just not allowed to touch the poison water. Just hit his jewel and get the jewel shard, jump on the pads to a rock, wait for his mouth to open, hit him and repeat.

The problem is that due to the instant kill nature of the poison swamp, even the slightest server lag is a kill on you, even if you play your best.

I died all of the time there too, but beat him several times though. Best way is to stay on the big pad and just dodge his attacks.

What I usually do is first start by hitting him, so a jewel drops. Next I back away from him, so I have some space to dodge. As he stomps his feet, I dodge-roll forward through the shockwaves. If he starts bopping up and down, that’s a sign that he’s about to do his large stomp attack, which is harder to dodge. It’s better to try and dodge through it, and take what ever damage it does, than to make a suicidal leap to a rock. When he shakes his head from left to right, pick up a jewel immediately, and toss it into his mouth. If you fail to do so, he does his tongue attack (which can be dodged, if you dodge sideways through the tongue). After hitting him as much as you can, hit him some more so he drops a new jewel. This way you’ll have a new jewel ready before he does his next stomp attack.

I have done it, and I’ve even done it once without taking damage or dying.

Don’t miss lilypads.

Don’t use the left or right largy pads in front of him.

Get to him quickly at the beginning so you can prevent his first tongue attack.

If he looks left, move to the right of the pad, and dodge left over the shockwave.

If he looks right, move to the left of the pad, and dodge right over the shockwave.

If he suats straight down, jump lilypads back to one of the rocks behind you, wait out the double shockwave then come back.

If he looks both ways, he’s about to open up, so get a crystal ready.

This fight is made considerably easier with the Moto’s Finger Elite from 2-3 normal or infantile mode. It equates to about one damage cycle, or a good 1/3 of his HP if used when he is vulnerable.

If you can’t be bothered to jump back to the rocks for the double-wave attack, bring potions (you can buy these in the shop just to the right of the boss door ) and just tank the double shockwave attack by walking to the front of the center pad, take the hit, and chug your potion while blinking (this is the best method for those with lag issues)

King Toad is pretty easy. The Lilypads are d**** though so I just ignore them and let him hit me/try to jump over wave or dodge backwards from edge closest to him. The lilypads can go die in a fire for all I care.

If you have Moto’s Finger from W2Z3 it does a huge chunk of damage to him. I just hop over to him and smack him around (for jewel) till he opens wide and I put it inside. Then I finger him and smack him around some more for jewel and next time he opens his mouth to me he dies.

Nunchuck weapons kill him faster as well~ he usually dies before I lose all my hearts so I don’t care too much about his attacks. If you die just finger him again.

So far the W1 green Trib skins I have are 2 swords, 3 daggers, staff, 5 pistols (fricken love these). Might of missed a few but I’ve done it a lot. Only 2 Yellow skins cuz god I hate W2Z2 so much.

PS… Stand back after killing him because he sometimes likes to take you down with him by glitching you through the floor if you’re too close~ killing you.

And click on his mouth when he opens it! (I think he has two targets…you want the FACE so when you throw the jewel it actually goes in his MOUTH).

So far the W1 green Trib skins I have are 2 swords, 3 daggers, staff, 5 pistols (fricken love these). Might of missed a few but I’ve done it a lot. Only 2 Yellow skins cuz god I hate W2Z2 so much.

That’s awesome. I only went for one yellow for the same reason. I’m trying to get a full green skin set for my warrior to maintain her minty look into the future (attached).

So far I have GS, sword, axe, mace, shield, warhorn, rifle, bow. Still need a hammer and an extra sword/axe/mace for possible offhand.

Four more days and I should be done

Yes, beat him twice, both on first tries.

Tactic:
- Go to the middle platform
- Don’t ever leave the middle platform
- Stomps? Dodge through it
- Jumps? Double dodge
- Out of endurance? Take 1 hp damage

He should be down in 3 rounds (even with the stick, with nunchucks you can make it in 2 rounds maybe, not sure)

The Toad is fine. The lily pads are borked. The responsiveness or how long you can stay on one before dying seems to be much smaller than normal mode, requiring your jumps to be much more precise. Also, if the Toad is doing a stomp attack, the lily pads don’t work at all. So in summary

1. Be prepared to die a lot to learn the timing of the lily pads
2. Stay on the Rock until the after the king does his stomp, then quickly move to the King.

Once you are close to the king, do it the same way as in. Normal mode.

Note this tip – stand back after killing him because he sometimes likes to take you down with him by glitching you through the floor if you’re too close, killing you.

That happened to me. I then had to fight my way back through the lilly pads and didn’t manage it before the timer ran out.

So I didn’t get the chest or, it would seem, the achievement!

He’s just as easy as he was in Regular mode. Only difference if you have to stay on the center lily pad only. Just smack his jewel until you get a shard, then run out to the Block and wait for him to open mount. Throw shard in mouth ( target boss not jewel ). Immediatly after throwing run back to him to smash out 50% of his hp. Do so once more, dead toad. Stupid easy. The monkey throwing stuff at you is easy to avoid, just strafe a foot away from your position (aka keep moving)

Getting to King Toad in Trib is way harder than killing him. You already know you can do the hard part. You just need to figure it out.
