I know it’s been mentioned a few times now, but yeah, Armor Repairs were made completely free a while back, Mad Queen. The only cost you incur in the Labyrinth is the WP fee if you die. This CAN be a gold sink, but after a while you learn what are the “good paths” in there that take you past several plant buffs and allow you to grab at least 3 – 5 Lesser Pods, the value of which should more than equal the cost of the WP. It’s also fun to keep track of the wolves on the minimap and then adjust your path through the Labyrinth to stay ahead of them. (Just like Pacman!)

I agree that it won’t be for everyone, but I just thought I’d point out that the Labyrinth activity can be fun for some players if you understand the approach the devs were going for.

OP reminds me of my uncle’s wife at the dinner table during a family gathering. Complaining/kvetching just for the sake of it even if some of the complaints were invalid.

OMG is your name Glenda Horowitz who tells everyone you’re from NY?

I know you’re really from Jersey but dont worry, I wont tell anyone.

This is just so confusing. I’m pretty sure I was paying for my armor repairs yesterday at Camp Resolve.

The design seems all over the place. Now you pay for armor repairs, now you don’t. Now you have magic find, now you don’t

Doesn’t sound like its too hard to confuse you. Repairs have been free for a long time now.

Things change, updated and unnecessary game mechanics get replaced, deleted or updated. Its in patch notes which Anet are very transparent about. Nearly every game on the market these days have patch updates.

what rock have you been living under? It’s almost like you can’t be bothered reading what’s changed and need someone to personally come over and guide you through it.

Sometimes, i feel like people come to the official forum to complain just for the sake of complaining. The repair fee is free since a long time ago, and the amt of gold you get from doing the labyrinth is more than enough to cover your waypoint cost.

People were mad when the bandit chest was nerfed, and now they’re mad when anet gives them a new farming area. At least now there’s a challenge (finishing at least one of the breach events) before you can get to the farming area/labyrinth. Isn’t this all we wanted before?

I know you play this game quite a bit, Mad Queen, and run amazing events for people. So it just goes to show there’s always something someone can miss.

I think what may have happened is you conflated the merchant right next to the anvil in the Pact camp with the repair function. Possibly you had the coin jingle sound while standing there (by selling to or buying from the merchant), and that made you think you were spending on the repair.

As to the Labyrinth, I’ve done it twice now. I have to say I don’t think I’d do it on anyone but my thief, toting heal-stealth and shadow refuge, but I think I got a Gloves box while in there and so I’m very happy I went in tonight! At least, after doing a successful 5 kill Breach for the very first time, I got a Nightmare Key and thus went in the maze, and upon emerging and sorting out my stuff I had the gloves ready to go, thus saving me 1K more crests of farming. Hurray!

After a few runs of the Lab, I have to say I find it to be pretty fun. I run it on my guard, with Travelers. Leaps blinks and stealth are your best friends down there when you’re not in glowing light pod form. You can get a little bit more mileage out of light pod form with correct dodges(few more seconds to live). Also it’s really not hard to decide, if that entire way to the center is stacked with wolves, that means there’s less around the area, so you can pick up more nightmare chest with less worry. And if you need to get to the center take the other way.

Daily reminder that you should read the patchnotes.

Complaining about inconsistency in this games’ design, without keeping track of the change / improvement / abundance of certain mechanics, and the reasons for it, makes no sense whatsoever and spawns a thread like this:
full of uniformed, illogical complaints, that are inconsistent in themselves.

Since it seems like you’re missing updates from the past 6-9 months, I’d like you to look into the release note subforum and read up on what you’ve been missing, IF you really intent to proceed with this thread. This would make it much more convenient to argue / discuss about any gw2-related content with you.

The entirety of this thread can be summed up in two simple issues:

1) Keep up with game changes

When you have no idea that major changes were made to the game, and then base complaints off of non-existent problems, you can walk away with egg on your face.

2) Learn 2 Play

You can’t zerg the labyrinth “ghosts”. Just like in Pac-Man, you need to avoid them or they kill you. Stealth comes in handy, but if you don’t have it, roll dodging works too. Touching them is fine, but the real danger is when they actually attack. So if they’re in front of you, just roll through them, and keep moving. Use your mini map to see escape paths.

In GW2, Trading Post plays you!

Speaking of which! Veteran enemies, Champion enemies, Elite enemies, Legendary enemies! Some champions and elites take a lot of players to take down, some can be easily taken down solo. I no longer know the difference.

If an enemy is the same level as you, then it might be soloable. If it is a higher level tha you (they get up to 84) then it will be harder to solo. They scale up like this when a ton of people are around so that they don’t just explode on contact with the zerg.

And as for Labyrinth loot, I got a Carapace Gloves box once from the big chest. Also, the event happens in three stages (collect 100 boxes as a group, then 150, then 200), and each tier you participate in that completes gives a reward pack, usually including a rare. I’ve gotten fairly decent at the labyrinth, dieing often enough but also getting through the thing, and I tend to average about two completed keys out of every three rounds or so? I think it’s fun and worthwhile. My only issue with it is I run it on my Guard, and I wish that they had ironed out the various class imbalances.

Cheap one shot mechanics, no thanks.

You do realize that if there wasn’t a one shot mechanic then everyone would just zerg and collect chest, without worry of being downed when they see a Lurcher come around? The way the Lab is designed is great, because it makes you adapt and use the implemented mechanics, instead of overcoming the enemies with just sheer numbers. I feel the rewards are great and that Waypoint fee is very fair if you were to die in the Lab. Assuming you collected a lot of chest before you died, you can make that money back by selling the junk you get from them.

For the rewards, I found it really underwhelming (gold wise) the first time around. Then I organized a map with killing all 5 breach bosses. Turns out you get a big key (for the big chest in the middle) if you kill all 5 breach bosses, so that’s a nice bonus.

That’s what I did as well. I helped command one of the fortresses the day after this episode went live, and we killed all 5 bosses on our first try, and got a key. I went into the labyrinth, died about twenty times trying to get to the center, and then got some green items from the chest for all my trouble.

So let me get this straight.

  • The whole map organizes itself, and defends the fortresses.
  • They then defeat these 5 bosses within the time limit, and are awarded with a key.
  • And that key opens up a chest, that is annoying to get to, and gives a few greens, with a very minor chance to drop a box with armor.

All I need to do is use one shovel, to dig up a better reward. Is there really any reason to do the labyrinth? I don’t like the game play, so is there any real gain?

The chest gives rares exotics and 3 champ containers , no greens……

Tips and tricks:
1. Stealth works to avoid being downed, if you have it, use it in here
2. Equip any and all speed boosts or leaps/lunges. Warrior with sword/warhorn and gs works.
4. Learn to dodge and equip faster endurance reg if able.
5. Get traits to reduce fall DMG, as there are some high cliffs you can jump from to survive.
6. Start to memorize some paths and enlarge your minimap for better map awareness
7. There are three paths to get to the center, straight, from the back, and from the right side leading to the back (right side coming into the maze).
8. When in the spore form, stun, always stun when near the wolves. Even if no one is around, stun. Slowing them at any point helps.
9. If you want to cheat a bit, use the devourer bot from the charr. Free stealth, free tele, and speed boost, and can take ONE additional hit. Downside, can’t jump, and if you go over a spore, you transform into it.
10. There are ledges you can jump up on to avoid the wolves, look for them
11. If you have access to invuln, use it (warriors endure pain, guardians elite)

edit: removed block, too lazy to change numbers

3. If you can get a block from a shield, or aegis, use that.

I don’t think Aegis works, I have a guard and have never noticed it procing, although that might be the “omg, get away from me” chaos of it all. I do thing the Invulnerability works though.

I’ve ran through the labyrinth enough to notice that the rewards do not weigh up against the armor repair grind. Constant instant kills, and every death damages your armor? No thanks! Not to mention that when you do have the key, the central room is crawling with enemies, so it’s pretty much a trial and error affair to get to that nightmare pod alive, plus it also has terrible loot!

You simply get better rewards from digging up buried treasure. So it there any reason to do the labyrinth, after getting the achievement? I don’t see any reason.

  1. Repairing armor is free. It’s the waypoint cost that gets you.
  2. You can do it naked and have no change in gameplay.
  3. I agree nonetheless.

After I got the achievement for the Greater Nightmare Pod, I haven’t returned, even though I’ve become rather good at avoiding the Bioluminescent Wolves.

It really isn’t that fun, and it really doesn’t give enough rewards to be worth it – though they’re better than you really make out, but getting to the point of being able to get a key is more work than the rewards I noted (at least if you work for the 25 fragment way, having to also use a Bandit Key).

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Dont think blocks work, arcane shield didnt either. Still its pretty easy on an ele, mist form + obsidian flesh + lightning flash, plus fgs, and make sure to hotkey look behind, and you can go almost the full time without getting hit (with some luck). But thank god the achievement is only 1 key, its such a boring and annoying area that I doubt many people will ever want to enter it again.

Pretty disappointing, one of the cooler maps that has been put in game and the mechanics make it so annoying that in a few weeks it will be completely dead for the rest of this games lifespan.

I’ve actually been having a blast in the Labyrinth on my thief, since I try specifically not to use the flower/pollen thing, and rely only on stealth.

It’s pretty fun, and can be pretty challenging to be running around with limited stealth abilities, and see how long you can last before you get tagged. Plus since you have chances to get things like exotics, and the glove armor chest out of the nightmare pods, it’s rewarding enough that I don’t feel like I’m wasting time.

(Sometimes I use the pollen things, but just when I really want to try and get the chest.)

Man, after running it about 6-8 times on my Guard, I ran it on my Thief earlier tonight and it was Soooooooooooo easy! I mean, I died a few times, but I also escaped death numerous times where my Guard would have been slaughtered. Enemies coming up behind? I can dodge three times in a row and pick up Swiftness as I do. Drop off a cliff? Safe fall and gain stealth. Enemies coming and there’s a pod nearby? Infiltrator’s Arrow (for safety dodge right after casting so they don’t kill you before it lands). Nowhere near a pod and cornered? Shadow Refuge. Not to mention Disabling Shot and Roll for Initiative, which I’m not good enough to use effectively, but others likely could. If I were a better player I could be invincible in there with that toolkit.

I really enjoy it though, I don’t see myself doing this thing forever, but I wouldn’t mind doing it for another couple weeks.

Nope, blocks do not work. I can confirm that on my Sw/Sh Warrior. XD Only evades and invulnerability skills will protect you from the Wolves.
