Lets face it here
People will not like me for this … but Trahearne should totally have a cameo and “explain” the whole thing to us – lol.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
Actually hes the one who told us about the other pale trees least he lets us in on some things, i never would of guessed there bring more than one pale tree
Considering Trahearne is a Scholar it will not be a surprise when he returns that he will provide more lore on the Sylvari for us.
But until then Trahearne is stuck in Fort Trinity filling out paper work in his office everyday until he is needed on the battlefield again.

This is probably how he likes it best.
The kitten mightier than the sword! trehearne stabs mordy in eye with pen
But seriously the pale tree is just up to no good with all the lack of information

It’s more likely that our characters are too brain dead to ask her. I mean have you seen how Anet treats the PC sometimes? we act so dumb Q.Q
“being basically the goddess of nature and all things plant”
I think that role is filled by Melandru, imo Pale Tree is way under that kind of power.

I think you wrote “pen” and “is” too close :P , gotta love the forum censor haha.

Human gods are not syvari gods stop trying to force religion… God=creator=alpha=omega pale tree created the syvari is currently the alpha tree in tyria human gods= created nothing, traveled through the mists (we can do this through fractals so are we gods? Theres nothing godly about the human gods, they are seemingly very powerful humans from another land, would u call aliens your gods? Well same concept, but yes the pale tree is the mother god of the syvari they worship her and her powers unmatched atm (tho that remains to be seen with mordy awoken)
I have always figured that there are other Sylvari groups in the world. What if the player character group is the anomaly. Due to Ventari’s teachings. They should actually be like the way they should be. Leads to a great difference in the game. Especially in tune to the story of Sylvari history.

I was not really forcing in game religion, while I totally agree that the human gods didn’t create the humans, they just transported them to Tyria, the Pale Tree was planted by a human, Pale Tree didn’t created the Sylvari, the Sylvari just … “bloom” from the Pale Tree, something older and currently not known created that seed.
I just think (my opinion) that Melandru is a more powerful entity than Pale Tree, but that is other subject, there is even a topic about it in the Lore sub-forum.

Not really possible. The reason treaderp was the leader of the pact was because he spent his entire lifetime researching HIS Wyld hunt. He literally spent all his time in Orr which is why he understood Orr and Zhaitan. The secondary reason was due to his contacts in each of the 3 “sects”. He knows nothing of the other dragons aside from, hey, they’re dragons.
Not only that but he hasn’t completed his Wyld Hunt so I don’t think he’ll leave Orr. After all, I have yet to see him cleanse any of it.
Yes it’s certain the pale tree knows more, that’s for sure but it seems to me like she HAD to withhold the info for a while to give the sylvari enough time and a chance to actually build a society solid enough so they have something to hold on to when they realise they migth be minions of Mordy and grow desperate and insane.
If they had known from the start they might have embraced their primary nature and purpose far too fast and it would have been game over almost right from the start.
The nightmare court would have an even more valid point saying that the teachings of Ventari are a load of fluffy rubbish getting in the way of their “true nature”.
They might have a bigger chance to have an actual choice now and withstand the corruption.
The Pale Tree might be stronger now too with the dream getting nurtured by many sylvari who took a different route than intended.

Shes gonna end up having to tell us about mordy before their show down or she’ll end up dead with no one seem to caring

I personally want to see Primordus basically wither Mordremoth down as he grows because of all the CO that burning so much fauna can cause. And then we’re left looking at him going, “Um yeah… you can be next I guess.” Mord ends up thin as hell and hides away to recuperate until the next cycle.
Pale Tree better let loose some tidbits on Mordy by herself, or through Caithe. Trehearne can just rot in Fort Trinity for all I care XD
I think we need to load up the Iron Legion with saws and flame throwers and take them to have a little chat with the Pale Tree. She seems to know something that she’s not talking about.
I hope anet reads this thread and thinks about it, why hasnt the pale tree been open to us…. I mean it was either her death or her corruption scarlet forsaw, i mean as it stands… With her withholding tyria saving information from us, i honestly don’t want to save her, why should i? Mordys corruption will be devasting and the queen of the plant people would rather sit idle than try to save the many lives such as the pact camp in timberline, she should of talked to us as soon as the vines started spreading
Edit: as it stands if u talk to her about scarlet she basically shrugs and says i dont care but im proud of you anyway
Even if the Devs read the thread, and I assume they will, it’s not like they could change the story in the next 4-6 months. Unless you wanted to wait ~6 months for the next chapter or so.
Personally, I am ready for the next release. I had enough of a break since the end of Chapter One.
Its not hard to do the pale tree like they did canachs situation, i honestly think hes gonna be the one to make the pale tree reveal all she knows about mordy

I’ve learned to be careful with speculation and not to get ones hopes up. It’s okay to speculate and theorize what may happen but one must be careful not to set expectations so high that you end up hating the company for not appeasing you. This is kind of what happened to Guild Wars Eye of The North as I remember I myself thought it was going to be about Menzies pulling a power play that would spill into the earthrealm. He was the Lord of Destruction.
What we got instead was a lousy uneventful boss.

I’m not sure what my post has to do with speculation, as I was only commenting on the fact that wherever the story leads, it has likely already begun to be implemented, and to change it now would involve many months’ lead time.
It’s good to hear your thoughts, though. =)
The Pale Tree isn’t Doc Scratch. I don’t think it has malicious intent.
Doesnt have to have malicious intent to just withhold information, lets say for example your house is on fire, ur neighbor notices it but decides to finish his beer before telling you because he thinks he has time. well he finshes his beer opens up the front door and starts screaming for everyone to get out, the problem is, its to late everyones dead (your family = tyria) in their sleep and the house falls down on the neighbor instantly killing him as well. All this could of been prevented if the neighbor (the pale tree) took action and told you very vital infomarion that could of saved everyones lives but instead she’d rather sit in the grove and twiddle her branchs
So it’s not malicious . . . instead it’s incompetent?
So it’s not malicious . . . instead it’s incompetent?
Pretty much, is why i said the pale tree is like the government hiding secrets for “national security” some times you gotta stop babysitting and let your nation deal with it before everyone ends up dead

As much as I dislike the filthy Charr, I would put aside my racial hatred to ensure this done. But why stop at a chat? Every tree needs pruning when it gets out of control. Landscaping basics here.
And let’s face it, the Sylvari are out of control. Their own government is unable or unwilling to contain it. Every time something starts kittening up global events in Tyria, it’s a kittening vegetable behind it.
Enough of this.
[edit] As a sidenote, this is the first time I knowingly +1’d a Charr post

A: Why would he be clueless about the other dragon? Sure he’d know less but there is no indication he’d look at a icebrood and go “waaat?” maybe I mistook your post in that regard.
B: He DID clenase Orr. The Source of the water. It’ll take time to flow throughout the entire Orrian land and longer for the land to fully heal and start regrowing, but his Wyld hunt is done. He tells that to us personally.
But seriously the pale tree is just up to no good with all the lack of information
Don’t confuse character motivation with writing quality.
The pale tree doesn’t talk about its nature, along with the Sylvari because ANet doesn’t want us to know that.
I think in reality, the pale tree would’ve told us everything. It might make some people push away from her more, but knowing the link between it and the elder dragon would drastically help the fight.
We won’t hear about it until ANet feels the need to “drip feed” more mystery and lore.
I mean if DE2.o was smart they all would’ve stuck around Scarlets room to find clues, but they were all stupid and “duh who cares she’s dead” because ANet didn’t want us sitting there finding everything right away.
UNLESS….
The Pale tree DOESN’T know about any ‘link to a dragon’. Given how it was taken from the cave of seeds, and planted with Ventari, for all we know it could be unaware of any such connection.
Just like how the fantasy tales go of a child of an evil race/evil lord gets raised among good people, never knowing just how truly evil his kind normally are.
OP: you’re not supposed to smoke the vines.

Actually, we don’t even know for sure if the Pale Tree really IS the pale tree.
We know that there’s a pale tree that the sylvari come from, and we know there’s a person or being claiming to be the avatar of the tree, but is it actually the tree itself? It could be someone the tree transformed, much the way a dragon corrupts things to use as servants. Or it could be someone just playing a part, a really powerful mesmer or a spirit of some kind. Do we know if any of the other pale trees have an avatar of any kind?
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

There’s also the idea that it too is being tormented by an unseen force and simply doesn’t want its children to be subjected to it. Ominous voices inciting destruction and chaos, bad juju.
I’m hoping this is the case. I’d be pretty let down if it turns out the Sylvari are simply Tyria’s immune system trying to combat all dragons. The sheer thought is way too Mary Sue-ish for my tastes at least with Mordremoth it would mean when our attention switches to Primo, Kralk, Jor, or “Bubbs” we would see Sylvari take a more back-row seat to let the territory deal first hand with their problems.
This is where i get to say I TOLD YOU SOOOOOOOOO pale tree knows everything and she left us to die!
