Lightning jump has been bugged since the original bazaar release. Now the random stop-and-drop in midair has cost me the story achievement and I have to restart the instance, wasting my time to make up for your negligence.

If you cannot be bothered to fix your year-plus old bugs, then don’t make achievements that depend on your code to work correctly, because it doesn’t.

From now on I will be privately streaming this game just to keep a record of everything that happens and I’ll be cutting and publicly uploading all bug videos as proof to counter all the denialists and apologists.

Tell them what’s causing it and they’ll be pleased to fix it, I’m sure.

Did you consider that they can’t figure out why it does that and that’s why it isn’t fixed?

It’s not like there’s a built-in “Drop players randomly halfway” switch that they can just change to 0. Or is there…

Also, all achievements depend on the code to work correctly. It’d be impossible to make one that doesn’t.

I cannot +1 this enough.

The mechanics are great in theory but, unfortunately, the bugs mean they can often become incredibly frustrating in practise. I can understand that the bug may not be something that’s easily fixable, but… it would probably be better if they limit their use of it until it’s fixed rather than forcing people to go through it to progress the story, complete jumping puzzles without dying multiple times, and so on, n’est-ce pas?

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.

This is related to lag, your ping must be perfect, any package loss will result in failure of the skill. I don’t think there is a simple fix because is a target skill. If you do have package loss in the mid air, the game won’t be able to get back that command that was just lost, and you will fall.
The sun aspect works in the same way as I many times got stuck in the mid of the quicksand for that reason.

The further from US you live, the more package loss you might have and the blame here falls mostly on ANET because theirs servers are really not up to all tasks they want them to be.
Some ppl living inside US also have the issue often because either their connection is not that perfectly stable as the game requires or because the servers are flooded with players in peak hours.

GW2 is not a game that demands a high broadband capacity, but it requires perfect stability.

I had these issue many times during the new Labyrinthine patch because of both reasons (far location, unstable ping). But on Dry Top it seems the lag is all on flooded servers, it is ANet problem and they already said they are solving it.

ps.: just for the record. ANet servers have a problem to manage incoming and outcoming data packages since the beginning, but they often try to say the problem is entirely on your connection. As the game population increase this is getting more clear, they can’t handle their increasing public. I just hope they stop putting the blame on players and try to also upgrade their hardware and not only the game LS.

We’ve been telling them since the day the bazaar was first introduced.

It’s likely a combination of their anti cheating netcode, and latency. If you lag during a jump, the anti cheat part kicks in and says “How did you move so fast, so far, through the air? – I call hax” and it rubber bands you and arrests your movement causing you to fall.

Given that for many of us the new content is unplayable laggy ANYWAY, having us keep falling to our deaths because of sloppy netcode, and even sloppier bug fixing (Which is to say: No fix for it in a full YEAR), it’s proving to be a real turn off. I’m hoping I’ll get a chance to actually play the LS before it ends.

Better netcode would fix many of these issues. If the servers were less stringent in how they treat the packets they’re being sent it wouldn’t be an issue. Yes it’d allow increased exploitation, fly and sprint hacks might become a thing again – but it’d stop the game thrashing the kitten of us EU players for living on the “wrong” side of the Atlantic ocean
