I really love them, they have a TON of great lore content in them, but honestly, I think anet should explore putting these in game in some sort of unique way. Not so its a mission, but just a storybook maybe, or an NPC being placed in the game who reads you the dialogue. One of the recent blogposts recently included a tale about Rox. I think it would be cool perhaps if an NPC, perhaps a friend of Rox, told the story to us.

I think if you implemented the blogposts in the game, it would please a ton of players because of how the lore was implemented. Maybe even in the future, if a character had some sort of past and a blog post was needed, for one time maybe you guys could create a side mission that had us use the fractals of the mists to go back to that point of time to visit them. Perhaps it was a tragic event or something that we needed to help out in.

Divinity’s Reach has book carts scattered about. Seems a good way to convey some written lore to the player base.

I don’t know, maybe I’m crazy but they should also sell, at the Gem Store (and possibly give a very rare chance for a world drop), virtual, in-game versions of the book store novels by Ree Soesbee. Add them to the readable materials at the book carts perhaps.

They could also add various bits of texts to the open world for explorers to find, unlock and add to their personal book cart material.

Frankly most of the short stories are of moments thakittens unlikely there would be written copies off. Further, its very unlikely that the key characters in these moments would be likely to share such moments with anyone but very close friends and only if the moment became relivant.

I want to see more written lore and lore items in game but I dont think that should exclude things like the short stories. Different media allow different perspectives on lore. Likewise having a novel ingame would be unweildy and annoying. I dont know about you but I spent my time reading my GW2 books reclined on a comfy sofa. If Im logged into GW2 Im more inclined to play GW2 rather than read a novel.

Adding stories to the game takes developer time, and must be completed and in the game with enough lead time for QA to do their job.

Adding them to the website doesn’t take that time (or at least not the people who do the game itself). Completely different group and it likely can be done in the last week if needed without hurting the release schedule.

Also, many of these stories seem like background for the player to know, not the characters. The characters don’t seem like they’d be in a position to know about many of these things, and characters like Marjory are not going to be publishing books about how the Ministry killed a kid and she met a mysterious person and was convinced to leave the guard.

Nor is Subdirector Bling going to be publishing any information about meeting Canach and telling him where to find Noll, since that triggered the events of The Secret of Southsun.

Personally, I’d just like a UI element that lets me access the site’s newsfeed in game. And maybe a specific section with in that UI element archiving the short stories. No need for lore-based justification. Just a convenience thing that can be updated with an alert icon whenever there is anything new. That way people who just log straight in to the game rather than visit the official site wouldn’t miss the info.
