If you own season 1 can you still play season 1?

The reason I’m asking is because i’m looking into buying season 2. However I don’t want to spend money on content that will be disabled shortly there after and I can never play it again. I would think season 1 would be an indicator if you could still play it. Will I still be able to play season 2 and try and get achievements and the like? Even after they discontinue it?

Season 1 was never meant to be replayed. Season 2 was designed to be replayed.

Season 1 was mostly large open world content, that was here briefly and gone. It made the world feel alive, but people were annoyed that they missed it. Anet changed the way the Living Story was delivered in Season 2. You can play it as many times as you like for as long as you like.
