20th of May to 1st of July that’s a long time for no new content especially when considering that the festival of the four winds is not new

thank god, no more rehashed content plz, four winds bored me within 5 seconds of logging in that first day.

I can not find any nice words describing how I feel about this. How do you want to keep people playing? Do you just want to kill the remaining small population of gw2?

It is extremely unlikely that they would
1: Release it on a Sunday
2: Announce it less than a week before release.

It is funny how all those other games somehow manage to keep people playing for 6 months without adding anything, but as soon as GW2 have a gap of a month or two the game is doomed.

The population in GW2 is far from small. I still see massive amounts of people around (both in PvE and WvW).

Would you rather have them rush releases so that you can complain about how bad it is due to too little time spent on it?

Looking forward to it. Gives me all the time to level my new asuran mesmer to 80 before that. Especially rolling trough all the jungle areas to get in the spirits :-)

At first I kinda agreed with this, July 1st is a long ways off for everyone to wait…especially after the festival of the four winds debacle (re-used, crappy rewards, etc.). But at the same time, after going ham on Season 1 last year and getting a little break and then going ham on wvw season, this one month of down time might be ok. It gives me time to just relax and play what I feel like playing, level another toon, etc. And if I get bored of it, ill just go mess around with another game, that’s whats great about this one, no sub fee means i can come and go as i please. I guess we’ll see how the player base takes the downtime as well.

You at least know when it is coming. cancel your monthly sub. and just resubscribe June 30th so you are all set to go.

Your steam back log will thank you.

I was expecting Dragon Bash, that was a fun event.

I personally wouldn’t assume that Dragon Bash won’t happen.
It is still fully possible that it does come back (it started in the middle of June last time) and that this is just announcing when Living Story is back.

To those saying that its too far from now…Do you want quality content that takes time to make or just half done patches with grindy achievements that takes a few hours to do like it was in the 2 weeks releases? What they are doing is EXACTLY what most people wanted from the start, I don’t care if I wait a few months if its good content (I waited 4-6 months between GW1 expansions…I’ll live) Tired of PvE? Get in WvW and help your server while you wait for season 2, if not just take a break from the game and come back in July (There is no sub fee)

too bad it’s released in july, i dont play during vacation, i’ll miss the entire beginning ;(

I’m eager to experience some nice new maps _
A month is good to finish leveling one or two of my alts or maybe crafting my second ascended armor.

I really do hope that they will add new content over the next month, they already took last month off. It wouldn’t need to be huge updates, but just some added story bits like when the original festival turned into an election. I do like the Festival content though.

Just because its a picture of a portal doesn’t mean we’re getting a new zone right away (if we do at all, but I think we will get at least 1 new zone hopefully). It could be a portal to an instance/dungeon. Dungeons use the same portal.

A gap of a month or two? The last content release was 18th of March.
Festival of the Four winds is not new content, except the master crystal hunt I have already finished the rest (including special liadri with 8 orbs) last year.

The population in GW2 is far from small. I still see massive amounts of people around (both in PvE and WvW).

Do you really think so? Only seems to be more due to the mega server. On the prime time we currently have about 10 (Borderlands) to 60 (Eternal) people queuing.

As long as I have something to do, I’m fine. Currently this is not the case in gw2, and unfortunately not the case in the next month.

Well this is a pretty big hint towards a new zone. But like others have said, that portal does not look like the one that’s currently in Brisban Wildlands, albeit inaccessible. It looks more like a portal leading to a jungle zone.

Maybe we’re not going north of Brisban, but south? There’s an open space south of Brisban and west of Metrica Province that leads closer to Magus Falls…

Well, neither unused brisban portal is leafy though, ones barren (the one at the broken bridge) the other has doors like the queensdale-kessex gate. Though that could be placeholder art i suppose. Almost certainly maguum in some capacity, given the seraph deployment to deal with (likely) fort vandal.

The only thing that article gives us is basically assumptions based on what we already know from season 1. Nothing more.

I feel like Dragon Bash will happen before the LS2 starts, something wrong will happen at this Dragon Bash just like the last one which will kick in the second season.

I can’t even get excited for this. One reason is that far too many people I enjoyed the game with have moved on and every time I log in it seems I know barely anyone in my guild now. I don’t expect much either from it. I want a big expansion. New classes or races. Lots of dungeons and 5 or 6 zones and I would happily pay for it instead of the minor stuff we are going to get in comparison even if it is free.

I guess I wont feel bad about leaving to go play any of the new games coming out first of June. : / Was hoping for Dragon Bash.

Those other mmos have years of content though. GW2 doesn’t, since living story was temporary content for over a year. The only things that were truly added as new, permanent content, was Southsun, Fractals, and EotM.

So, what about all those MMOs that were released and it took years before they saw their first expansion? And half a year before they got their first real content update?
For some reason those games did have enough content just from release to survive, but apparently GW2 don’t?

They weren’t on vacation for a month. How much work do you think it takes to localize this much content for China, not to mention whatever they did on the back end for the mega server stuff?

I missed the last festival and I’m sure it’s new for lots of people who didn’t start until this year, like me. So yeah, we aren’t all unhappy.

Honestly, I’m relieved that we’ll have some down time and that the festival will be around until then. I missed a good number of the living story episodes due to my schedule. This gives me the opportunity to ensure that I get all of the Queen’s Gauntlet achievements before new content arrives, work on leveling a new character, go after a few achievements etc.

I look forward to the new zone (assuming that’s what we’re getting)!

People complain when they have to wait a month because it’s “too much”, but they also complain when we get an update every 2 weeks because it’s “too early and full of bugs”…

1st of July it is. Too long in my opinion. If we recieve new maps and stuff it will be worthy, though.
In any case… June is going to be a month of not so much playng if there is nothing new

It has plenty of repeatable grinding missions to do at max level…just like the ‘endgame’ of other mmos….

Or perhaps further clarification of what “endgame” is supposed to be? Other than an end to the actual game where you can put it down after achieving everything there is and go off to do something else.

What years of content? repeatable quests? dungeons to grind to collectibles to eventually trade in for some armour piece? It boils down to quests and things to kill, gw2 has plenty of avenues to eat time and by design, you’re free to put the game down and wait it out….no sub fee to require fluff.

Does anet have a community director? And if they do then where the heck is he/she why arent they herding the public into the next installment does anet not have someone to represent them?

One month of semi-downtime in no skin off my back. More time for me to draft in Hex.

im thinking your right i think the bash will start off the second season with something happening that moves us into the jungle trying to figure what happened

how does any of this prove new zones? could (and more likely is) just a dungeon/instance entrance.

anyway, if its true they will be releasing actual permanent content with each (or most releases) its best that they keep living story on 4-6 week schedule, with “polish patches” for bug fixes and balance tweaks in between…..alternating LS and polish patches every 2-3 weeks.
