Hear me out:

From what I have noticed, all of the content updates from Sky Pirates to Election to Southsun to Frost and Flame (even the Halloween and Wintersday), all of the living world stuff has been geared toward Humans, Charr, Norn, and Asura. Never Sylvari. It’s kinda racist toward the Sylvari. Now I know what you’re thinking: Trahearne stole the show in the personal story. Yes, he did have a large role in the personal story, but this is the living story and it is now a year later. So please, maybe bring the Sylvari back around for a change? The Grove gets no traffic at all.

Side note** : THANK YOU for having this living world update outside of Lion’s Arch. It’s nice to change it up.

Canach is a sylvari secondborn and a really interesting character IMO. He was the “villain” of the Southsun Cove bit of the Living Story and it is a shame that his story was not really well delivered in game (loved the short story). I would like to see him again someday.
I have high hopes for Scarlet, now, but I wouldn’t mind if a well developed sylvari hero would come around instead of another villain. I really love Rox and Braham and I would like to see more characters like them instead of boring, plain characters like Kiel. Another sylvari Mary Sue? I will pass. Interesting sylvari character with an intriguing background and a catchy personality? Yes, please!

I know people will hate me for this, but I kinda want to know what is going on with the Pact and how Trahearne is doing. I also would like to know why didn’t he ask Kiel for his ship back, you know, the one that the Aetherblades stole and that Magnus gave to Kiel instead of returning it to the Pact.

I honestly didn’t like most of Southsun. I just don’t like the zone and I didn’t like the story, the first time or the second time. and you’re right. Kiel is boring. She was boring during the investigation thing too. Apparently Scarlet might be the mysterious figure from the queen’s Jubilee opening ceremony. But still, we don’t even know if it’s a Sylvari

The personal story was almost entirely Sylvari focused, hell even the Zhaitan Arc’s theme is the Sylvari theme song. In fact, the story works best if you play it as a Sylvari (Sylvari was my first character btw)

Sylvari can wait their turn.

That being said, I’d expect their turn is in fact coming up.

i actually wrote a thread long ago about how going for a sylvari character (especially if you pick specific personal story branches) comes out as far more concise and interesting than with any other race :P

anyway, there’s only so much that ANet can do. when living story was on its baby steps, ANet ended up taking 4 months in a single story arc about norn and charr, but it was still just one story arc. then we spent two months on “race-free” content (southsun+dragon bash/sky pirates). after that we had a bit of human-centric story, then human VS charr, and now human again.

Which makes me wonder, are they going to be the star(s) of killing the other dragons? Can they not be corrupted by the other dragons, like they can’t be by Zhaitan?

Eh, I kind of doubt it. I personally feel like Jormag will be Norn focused, Prim will be Asura focused, Kralk will be……..maybe human AND char focused tbh. Not sure on DSD, finally I imagine Sylvari will be the focus again when it comes the 6th nature dragon.

As for corruption, I recall the belief ingame is that the Sylvari can not be corrupted because they are supposedly completely new life forms to the Dragons. Of course, there’s the theory that Sylvari were born originally to be Dragon Minions and that the Nightmare Court are, in fact, the true Sylvari.

Im quite sure the mystery person is a Sylvari. When you click her the little face at the top of the screen has a green tinge and leafy texture.

Perhaps ANet devs have the same problem with the Sylvari character creator that we do… And now they’ve run out of character models. There’s only so many ways to look at a lettuce.

Canach has been one of the most importan characters until now, and by the way, Scarlet seens to be a Sylvari too.

But if is to ask about races forgotten, where is asura participation? Only if you consider SAB a living world content. (Its not, its only a simple game for distraction, has anything interesting in LS).

I Say you : We don’t have any asura main characters in LS.

That is because we Asurans have no time for the mundane problems of life outside our race, the struggle for power within Rata Sum is far more entertaining and intellectually challenging than fighting steam powered pirates. Although obtaining some for study could prove interesting.

funny that you mention interest for politics, when the arcane council is kind of shoved into that position because everyone else is too busy being productive.

wonder what that says about you.

We should have more good asura characters. They don’t even have to be main characters, but just if they were likeable, I would be fine with it. Almost all the asura I like are dead or vanished forever after the Personal Story, and I can’t stand most of the asura characters that are still alive. Yes, I played the asura PS. Yes, I still hate their society, I still can’t forgive Zojja for torturing Eir and their political system is so corrupted that it makes me sick.
They are funny, yes, but I wish there were more asura characters that made me say “Oh boy, I hope this guy will show up again later” instead of “Why can’t this pretentious insect die already?”. That doesn’t mean that I want humble asura, since I know that’s pretty much impossible, and just want deeper personalities, that’s all.

I’ve seen it said in other friends that humans get too much love in GW2 and that everything is human-centric…

But none of the Order mentors are human, Trahearne is a sylvari, most of the main characters of the game are something other than human.

I really think humans are pretty under-represented in the game. This makes sense, to an extent, because humanity is kinda in a terrible position and dying off, but… I hardly think the game is super human-centric.

Also, there are important sylvari NPC’s all over the place.
