Living World to Elona/Cantha?
Absolutely. But not any time soon I don’t imagine. Anet has made it clear that they want to stick to continental Tyria for the moment and it makes sense to focus on the immediate threats posed by the dragons. But I definitely think Cantha and Elona are going to be opened up somewhere down the line – it might just take a couple of years.
Let’s finish Tyria, first.
If they ever finish Tyria.
I’m sure we will be going to those places and many others after we finish with the dragons. I could also see Canthans helping with Sbubbles and Elonians helping with Kralkatorik.
Would so love to go back to elona. Thea visit with our old dear friend P Joko.
Cantha is not in the plans. At least that was the case when GW2 was released. Nothing has been said one way or another about Elona. I would love to see Elona again.
There’s still a ton of really awesome potential locked up in Tyria, even aside from (Or, I’d daresay -especially- aside from) the dragons.
Cantha would be hard either way since Anet is terrified of china (even though half asia have said they also love Cantha) plus it’s a xenophobic state. Good luck smuggling the charr inside.
As for Elona would be a good bet, especially since we know an elder dragon is there. But anet knowing the elder dragon would sooner come here than we go there

Welp, I’m done with the forum. See you guys in two years.
He’s called Sbubbels now, isn’t he. (or she, plot twist) awesome.
Anyway, shouldn’t Cantha be completely flooded with the rise of Orr?

Don’t worry it’s never been proven to be the reason.

Only the northern coasts. That tidal wave wasn’t that destructive. And after 100 years, they’d have mostly recovered, no doubt.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
I hope that the current technology used for this game is not ancient by the time we get off this continent.
I guess for now, I’ll have to stick with Tyrian Living World. Love it, but I really want to visit some old familiar turf. I think I will be pained to see Palawa Joko and have him not recognize me cause my ancestor helped him out forever ago and not me.
I’d LOVE to visit back to Cantha and Elona again...!!!! Ohhh it would have been so amazing to see how it looks now and so much more!!
Guys, come on. Let’s be honest here.
This is never, ever going to happen.
Maybe in Guild Wars 3
At this point they stated that as long as they believe that the LS can carry the franchise, they won’t start an expansion. So, as it stands, it will be at least a year before they will ATTEMPT to BEGIN an expansion.

Link, please?
Anyway, even if we don’t actually go there, I’d be shocked if we don’t see/hear something about what’s going on in Cantha or Elona within the next year or so. I don’t know if it’s been retconed, but the original reason Tyria was cut off from those two places was because of Zaitan’s Dead Ships patrolling the Fire Islands and the Crystal Desert’s northern coast, and I would think that two years after Zaitan’s death the Pact would have thinned it’s navy to the point that ships from either direction might actually start to get through.
At the very least, when the story goes toward’s Kralkatorik, we’re almost certain to hear something from Elona, since it’s pretty much just off the edge of the southern part of the current world map (I think you could even walk from the northernmost part of the Desolation to the southernmost part of the Crystal Desert and visa versa in GW1 as long as you had both Prophecies and Nightfall on your account.)

I don’t have a direct link, but I have come across several notes of devs stating as such. I don’t know what the power of their word is..
And it’s only only zhaitan that isolated kryta. There’s Kralkatorrik in the Crystal Desert and S-Bubbles further in the sea with his/her unending storm
As for cantha specifically, it’s currently on a xenophobic lockdown, so I doubt anyone but a well prepared xunlai or whisper’s agent.
I would imagine that we -might- see hints towards Cantha probably in the LS in the next year.
Most likely, as above, it will be in the form of whisper agents undercover. As Arenanet are very good at sticking to the lore, they will probably do one of two things:
1) Scouting/situation report for Elona, in which you play as the agent and only the agent to get a taste.
2) Send only human players, give none-human players potions or other transformation/hiding methods.

If the company comes to their senses, we’ll go there. If they stick to the LS foolishness, probably not.
I wonder, how will the plot for Cantha work?
I mean, it is implied the Empire is quite xenophobic towards foreigners, and especially non-humans. 80% of players (give or take) are non-human. I assume we won’t be friendly with the empire, then? Cantha is populated entirely by humans (maybe small bits of resistance here and there), it would look weird if our non-human chars were running around everywhere. What are Charr doing in Cantha anyway???
I’m afraid the other races going to these continents will ruin the “feel” these continents are supposed to have.
The continents of Cantha and Elona would definitely be good, though given the Living Story, I can’t say they’d give us the entire continent to explore in one massive update.
@Mental Paradox I can probably assume that considering much has changed since Factions, or we can band together to take down a Canthan tyrant emperor or something to liberate it and eventually make it another town hub for players to mingle with. That would be a good start. We can start by say having the Pact or unified Tyria function form a base of operations in a certain Canthan location or something.
