I’ve noticed something different about LS3 compared to previous seasons.

Previously, when a LS happens, there’s usually a permanent physical change to the world. It may be huge (LA and Kessex Hills getting completely FUBARed) or more subtle (Bandits abandoning Fort Vandal).

For LS3, I’m disappointed at the lack of noticeable physical collateral from the exploding Bloodstone. I would have thought it would be a great excuse to blow a big hole in the northern side of VB which doubles as an entrance to Bloodstone Fen. Or maybe a red glow to the northern skies. Or bloodstone dust settling in distant areas like volcanic ash.

The bloodstone-crazed creatures and that random ley line entity don’t seem to do justice to Tyria’s equivalent of a nuke.

I really hope Anet has something more impactful up their sleeves with ep2+

It’s only chapter one. Plenty of chapters in Living Story Season 2 that didn’t change the world at all, including the first chapter.

There’s now a huge crater in the far north of the maguuma jungle. That’s a change, IMO…

Bloodstone Fen itself is the change.

Granted, we never saw it before the explosion. But guaranteed it didn’t involve red energy waves in the skies, rocks floating in the sky, a giant cavern covered in bloodstone crystals, ect. It would have looked like a normal area of the Maguuma Jungle.

Also, you have to remember that the whole point of the storyline is that the explosion was subverted and drawn in / absorbed by Lazarus. So it didn't reach nearly the destructive potential it could have. If that hadn't happened then there would have been a lot more fallout from the blast and it would have reached much further. In fact, I think I remember during the instance showing the explosion or right after that it would have even hit Lion's Arch, which I personally find a tad ridiculous given how far away Bloodstone Fen is from LA on the map, but... yeah. The lack of impact on other parts of the world beyond the random bloodstone shards is part of the story.

I dunno, I think the nuke could have reached LA quite easily… think about the affects on earth, its literally 100 mile radius easy. VB is maybe 2-3 miles going by the current walking measurements that we have.

There is also the Bloodstone Slivers that did make it outside Bloodstone Fen which are connected the the Bloodstone-crazed beasts.
