I could be wrong but I got the impression that outside media was going to do more in depth and hands on of the upcoming season. Since the release is Tuesday it seems a bit late.

So the News Blog and some game sites said.

Maybe it turned out the patch wasn’t as ready for preview testing as hoped. I don’t know.

I suspect it’s more of a spoiler control thing. We’ve seen many instances of too early leaks from the media or too much comms come from media sources rather than Anet themselves. This could just be a way to control the output until after the weekend and minimise how much is being discussed before any surprise reveals on Tuesday.

Seems the News Blog removed the statement about partners getting a sneak peek, so I guess the Devs changed their minds.

gw2 doesn’t get that much media coverage, not even from the larger sites like IGN or gamespot. If not from the main site, I usually see almost all updated info about the game on mmorpg.com. So if its not there, then nothing has really happened.

Unless someone else knows of a site where they have some updated information no one else has.

There is just no hype at all, and that is due to the lackluster trailers.

If you have seen an ESO dlc or FF14 update trailer then it’s hard to be excited with a gw2 trailer where its just a series of still scenes fading-in with some narrator discussing a vague threat. I remember one patch update trailer for FF14 was showing almost over 5 minutes of new content.

Watching a GW2 trailer is just going to make you wonder what the game is about, it’s ok artistically but I don’t think it will bring in new players.

This. Anyone remembers the SWTOR trailers for example? Absolutely awesome.
In most GW2 trailers, there is a voice saying this and that, and nothing of importance is going to happen, that is something you know from the start.

Those three companies I think have larger budgets for making trailers with. I agree the ls3 trailer and in the same way the ls1 roundups, were unremarkable and not enough was done to promote interest, but they will have smaller and tighter budgets for these than bioware or square enix will have.

Having said that, I enjoyed both the HoT announcement trailer and also the launch one, so they are quite capable of making decent trailers

Most of the trailers aren’t even trailers, there teasers. There is a difference. Their latest trailer was more of a recap of past events for those who don’t know whats happening with the story. Which feels more like they were playing it safe when it comes to generating any sort of hype.

Anet has always been vague with gw2. They don’t want to spoil the surprise of the reveal and want players to discover things on their own by logging in. But I can definitely see how that could also be hurting the game at the same time since it gives a face value impression that nothing is happening when thats simply not true.

Their latest trailer wasn’t a recap, it held all sorts of teasing things that have been analyzed frame by frame for what they might mean

I do wish we got more trailers in the style of the HoT one (with Rytlock jumping at giant vine Mordy, never mind that nothing like that happened in game) and the fractals one. They’ve played with morphed scene shifts several times, yet only the fractals trailer really went all out with them.

While I love the WoW and ESO cinematics for how they tell a story while highlighting various factions, I feel satisfied enough with the most recent trailer. Combined with the in-game event hints, my mind is already frothing over with ideas on how my various alts will be affected by upcoming events — though as my assumption is there will be warfare and rioting in the streets of the Reach, my ideas are based on that and may need to be sharply revised as of Tuesday if the story doesn’t go that direction.

Well, it seems the partners did get early access to Season 3, but were put under an NDA until the patch drops.

WoodenPotatoes just released a video stating this; I’m not sure why ArenaNet changed their mind about the ‘sneak peeks’.

Doesn’t really matter now, only a few hours until release.

Is the actual release time known?
I can’t find any information about that whatsoever.

Release is usually in the AM PDT. No one, but the Devs know the exact time.
