Mordremoth painting?
Instead of going into hibernation, what if Mordremoth regrew itself each cycle. Perhaps it crawled into a cave and withered away leaving only a few of it’s seeds behind for some valiant adventurer to stumble upon…
Mordremoth concept art looks a lot like the toxic hybrid from the nightmare tower, maybe Scarlet wanted to recreate the scene where the Dragon will be awaken, and maybe builded the Marionette as a test to see if it’s powerful enough to take the dragon down since you know, we have killed Zhaitan, so maybe Scarlet want’s to save her race if not all of Maguma since she studied with asuras, from Mordremoth, but i think it will be a failure, Mordremoth will rise, corrupting Sylvaris and Asuras, leading his champions and destroy Maguma like the sylvaris saw in the dream at the very beggining of the personal story.
Am I the only one who thinks the Nightmare court are minions to Mordremoth and like Amineo said the dragon at the start was one of his/her/its offshoots!

Based on Scarlet’s Journal she’s trying to walk her own path and sever any connection someone may have to control/influence her. Given this, why would the Nightmare court be servent’s of a forest dragon and following scarlet?
Norn Guardian – Aurora Lustyr (Lv 80)
Mia A Shadows Glow – Human Thief (Lv 80)
The Nightmare Court will do anything in an attempt to ‘liberate’ The Pale Tree from The Dream. If they think Scarlet will provide any means to that end, they will follow her. There could very well be ways that Scarlet could free the Dragon which no else can.

Maybe Scarlet has experienced the Nightmare, but she’s strong enough to resist it unlike other Sylvari? Thus driving her mad, and desperate to eliminate the source.

That theory has been around since before Guild Wars 2 even launched. Just thought I’d let you know.

Well, IF Mord is behind this, it’s very possible Mord needs Scarlet to free him/her/it for some reason. Maybe the previous races managed to seal it somehow who knows? Either way in such a case, it could be that Mord is pushing her towards that end knowing she can not possibly emerge victorious.
Again though, that’s a LOT of "if"s.
The toxic spores that Scarlet used during the Tower of Nightmare update are the same that drawned the karkas crazy, those spores are from the elder dragon itself, all we know aside from that is that some living beings can mutate and grow, gaining a huge size and become more powerful with this power like the Great Jungle Wurms or the Toxic Hybrid for example, yet the toxic hybrid still had free will because Scarlet modified the plants so the ’’corrupted’’ aren’t in the dragon’s control. The 3 headed Great Jungle Wurms and the husks that belongs to it are also minions of the dragon, which means that the further Scarlet goes, the further the minions are progressing to the outside world. When the dragon will be awaken, he will drive everyone crazy with his corruption like he did with Scarlet as she mentioned in her journal.
Sylvari are immune to the dragon corruption.
One would have to manipulate the Sylvari by other means or let it corrupt itself.
Sylvari are immune to the dragon corruption.
Their immunity to other dragons’ corruption may be directly tied to the possibility of them being dragon minions already. It is impossible for us to say currently without rampant speculation.

Um well.. the Pale Tree says otherwise… and you know the tree “never goes wrong”

“Although Caithe attributes its presence to the Nightmare Court, the Pale Tree believes it to be a manifestation of the player’s Wyld Hunt to defeat Zhaitan.”
I know “believes”, still the dragon is in the Dream.

Things that go BOOM

It is known from the CoE dungeon that dragon’s corruption can overlap on minions. We learn this through the boss Subject Alpha if I remember the name right.
What if mordremoth is a burrowing dragon and the probes are trying to find him
Or not find him, but make him go to a certain place.
Or what if, like a plant, Mordremoth has a root system.
…and that root system is spread across Tyria?

I posted this elsewhere, but thought it may generate more discussion here:
With the EOTM patch pending, I wanted to post my thoughts on Scarlet.
First, the questions.
- What is Scarlet doing?
- Why is she doing it?
First question: What is Scarlet doing?
According to Taimi, she is looking for something. That’s a safe bet to make. So, what is she looking for?
We are not sure. However, she has built:
- thumping devices
- machine minions
- airships
- mega lasers
- poisons
- drilling machines (presumably, based upon schematics in her office)
From this, I conclude she is looking for something underground.
OK, so what is she looking for? Really I only have 1 conclusion based upon what has been discussed (or not discussed) in GW2: a dragon. Using some meta-gaming, we know Primordius will be the last, biggest baddie, so ANet will save him until later.
That leaves us with: Mordremoth, the jungle dragon.
Mordremoth exists and is awake – we know this. However, we have not seen evidence of its corruption similar to what we have seen with the other dragons.
I hypothesize this is the case because Mordremoth corrupts nature from under the earth. It controls plant life and various earth-dwelling invertibrae (i.e. worms).
The 3 headed giant worm, I suspect, is a champion of Mordremoth. I also suspect the giant jungle worm is a minion of Mordremoth. If this is true, this means the jungle dragon has infected large, geographically separate regions across Tyria. (If the 3 headed worm is that big, imagine how big the dragon is!)
How has it accomplished this? I suggest it has done this subterraneously. I believe Mordremoth is some bizarre tree-like dragon that exists mostly under the earth. It has slowly spread its root system across much of Tyria, corrupting organisms along the way.
Now, is Scarlet working for the dragon or against it? I’d say against it. Why? If she were championing for the Dragon, then we would see her commanding an army of plant-like life and trying to acquire sources of magic for the elder dragon. Instead, we see her using the magics for her own benefit and building machines to do her bidding. That sounds pretty anti-Jugle Dragon, if you ask me.
Scarlet has been building an kitten nal of weaponry designed to kill Mordremoth:
- Flame legion weapons (fire is no friend of plant life)
- tunneling machines to dig deep
- clockwork machines (cannot be corrupted by Mordremoth)
- giant drills
- a super-poison injector
- toxic hybrids that may poison plant-life
If Mordremoth has corrupted much of Tyria and lies beneath the surface, then anywhere you stand may be on top of the enemy. So where does one fight from? Well, the skies! Here is where the Aetherblade ships come in. From here, Scarlet can attack with impunity, far from the reach of Mordremoth.
I think these thumpers aren’t looking for a single thing. I think she is mapping out Mordremoth’s root system (the ley lines of Mordremoth, if you will).
All roots lead back to the trunk. By mapping out the root system, Scarlet will pinpoint the location of Mordremoth’s core.
Now, onto question #2. Why is she doing this?
I have no idea!
What I believe, however, is that the remaining questions which I have not answered are tied into her motivation
Why did she go crazy?
What did she see in the Mists?
Why did she kill Omadd?
Why is she attacking Mordremoth now?
Why is she attacking the citizens of Tyria?
What do the steam creatures have to do with this?
I can only speculate that, while in the Mists, something got a hold of Scarlet and, when she came back, she wasn’t alone.
I’m guessing whatever came back with her is somehow tied to the Steam creatures and has a giant hair across its rear about all things organic.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend? Or is the enemy of my enemy my enemy?
