It was free for those who wanted. You left you failed to get the extra free stuff. Too bad

You don’t have to pay for the previous stuff to be able to play this chapter, you also, don’t have to pay anything to enter the new zones. And you aren’t even requiered to buy the chapters with real money because you can trade ingame gold for gems.

I don’t see a problem with this.

sorry I just found out we have to start up the story through the new journal system.

This is not very user friendly.

It’s true, if you weren’t around when the story journal got introduced you would probably missed that (as have others). It could be made a little bit more clearer i guess.

As for paying for the previous chapters:
Yes I can trade gold to gems, I do it a lot but I do not earn enough for all actually useful things.

Secondly I do not agree I should be punished for missing part of the world.
Missing Hivernel or Halloween stuff I wouldn’t care.
And I would agree on the success being locked but not the story part.
This is part of the world I wander so I should be able to go there and do the stuff.

Anyway this is my opinion.
If everybody agrees on the opposite then very well and good for Anet

Keep in mind that before season 2 if you missed something you wouldn’t even have a chance to do it, seeing as it went away as soon as the episode was over.
Sure it can be a bit annoying to have to pay a bit for access to it if you missed it. But at least you have the ability to do so.

You can also join someone that have in unlocked if you want to do the story for free.

This, and they only ask that you log in once during a chapter’s two week run.

Indeed, I agree this is a step up to be able to start it even if we missed it.
Yet I do not agree on the way to start it up

And as I lost interest in the game at the time I did not check the notes and hence I did not even logged in. Also I did not expect such a move.
