My deal with Scarlet
The point of a Sylvari doing this is to say that their race isn’t completely full of dandelions and they can be just as capable as any other.
IMO, they could have chosen any other race and it would still kitten me and others off.
Also, rants regarding the fundamentals of Scarlet’s writing are so 2013 ^^

Awh… I’m outdated…
- Yeah, well, I had one of those “epiphanies” this morning.
“An Asura can do this… not a flower with legs!”
- I was thinking that culture-wise, it seems out of place.

We had Canach show us that! And he is being rehabilitated.
- I wonder if Scarlet will be rehabilitated after we’re through with her.
She can be rehabilitated into a wood chipper.

The writers are completely bias towards the Sylvaris and so far from the interview, they are doing the complete opposite in “developing” the race. They just made Scarlet and Nightmare Court in the living story more cartoonish in the Guild Wars universe and I can’t really them them seriously. An Asura would have been a better candidate for a race of choice for Scarlet but it still wouldn’t fix the mess of story in the Living Story.
Honestly, I think Scarlet is a dragon, I think the salvari went into Omadds box, and Scarlet, the dragon came out.
You know, I think I could have liked the Scarlet character, if she was an Asura.
- A sylvari being capable of these things seem ludicrous to me.My whole deal with Scarlet seems to be that I am not of the belief that a Sylvari could pull this off. The asura being the intellectually superior race, and it’s unheard of that any of them have ever been to all the three colleges…
- It just doesn’t sound plausible that a sylvari would be capable of that, especially when the asurans would look upon her as a piece of lettuce with legs. So, a note to the writers, I guess… before implementing “Does it seem plausible?”.
- Just as the poor, little Braham with his hurt feelings about Rox soon joining a warband… He’s a norn, and they’re not known for having armies or being emotional about these things!- Just my morning rant.
Not all Sylvari are of the Dream, look at the Nightmare Court, but better than that, Malyck(I think that’s his name).
A “Pale Tree” without a Dream, meaning they can be just as bad, or worse, as Scarlet, and they’re still Sylvari.
If the plot of the Living Story is going the way I think it is going, it wouldn’t have worked for an Asura to play Scarlet.
The asura in Rata Sum in Living Story has pretty much said that the colleges let her in as much to study her as because she was capable. They were interested in her intellect and why she was such an outlier from the normal Sylvari. By training her they could observe her.
And norn are emotional all the time particularly about friends and companions.

Not in this way… there’s just something completely off about Braham as a norn and how he reacted in “A Moments Peace” during the Origins of Madness.
- He sounded childish. “Awh, Rox… don’t go. Noo, I don’t want you to!”
I mean, though it isn’t directly taken from his dialogue, that was how it felt.
despite the living story seemingly going No Where fast yet promising some Huge and amazing things to come z_z your rant seems to have missed several of the ‘few and far between’ rational details woven into gw2 lore..

Well he is said to be rather young for a norn.

My knowledge of the sylvari is kind of limited, but the introduction and what is given to us (not hidden far between) does not indicate that something such as Scarlet could occur.
As for my “deal” with Braham, I know he’s young and such, but I think that ANet should keep some of the cultural differences intact that made them all so believable in GW1.
- Norn! Tall, rugged, lone hunters, no need for armies and shapeshifting are some of the adjectives I relate to these norn. I would have expected a little less “Awh, I can’t believe you’re ditching us for some warband.” when I personally felt that my character was helping Rox reach that goal, and would be happy to see her go for it.
- Despite what you might think, I actually like Braham, but he’s going soft here (too soft… a little soft from the brute, yeah sure. Underneath his tough demeanor there’s a little huggy bear, he tries to hide – that’s fine, as long as it’s kept classy and not clichéed out of proportion- but this was a bit too much for me).
