My opinion about Diving googles

Because there aren’t two groups of people who play the game.
The annoying low framerate and the instant dead upon failure makes me rage hard. I enjoy harder content but successfully jumping to the diving goggles seems to be more luck than skill for me.
I find the bigger issue being you can’t see that super tiny puddle until you are half way down… and to find out it is not beneath you… causing a pointless trial and error situation.
After 4 tries I did it.
The first time was complete random. ;D
After that I saw the location of the “water”.
Also the jumping is really easy.
After the first time getting to the goggles I think I only failed once to get up again.
=> NOT HARD

Successfully jumping isn’t ‘hard’ ’once’* you know where to go (see above Youtube link or pinned thread one)
Going to the goggle is harder : it requires doing the whole jumping puzzle+goggles in one run (if you have to go down and get the last cristal again, it will probably not last long enough unless you do a flawless fast run). May deserve a new blue crystal somewhere on the rock platform.
Overall difficulty is honest. And if you want a ‘free’ achievement without training a few times on doing it for real, just wait for mesmers to start portalling the place.
Only real flaw is that the slippery part is too high and a mistake implies death. Doing this during prime time or getting that useless stack of orbs from your bank may be solutions. Or anet could add a Medic just like in Queen’s Gauntlet (if they do that, consistency would require Medics in other puzzles, especially Aetherblade one!)

The last crystal is plenty enough time to get to the diving platform, the trickiest part is just being able to land on the sail to get up to the platform. Getting to the water isn’t terribly difficult if you watch the dulfy video and think to put swiftness on.
Please add another crystal on the top or increase its time to be able reach googles. Or at least add a waypoint nearby.
This is just sadistic. It’s hard enough to get up to the goggles, but then you’re expected to jump into a tiny pool of water that you can’t even see from up there, like some clown jumping into a little bucket
The price of failure is too high. Hit the cross beams on the way down, and you got to climb all the way back up to the dive point again.
I have ragequit on this 3 times already An achievement should be given just for reaching the goggles.

tbh, what’s annoying isn’t dying.
It’s that the wp’s are far from the puzzle, requiring you to travel through the map to get back.
That’s just annoying.
It’s not difficult. but it’s very frustrating.
The map could really do with a wp closer to the jp.

more like is unfair for us who have ping lags and such not everybody can live close the servers they play can they now.

Anet can’t make everything a faceroll just because some people have bad a PC or internet.(or blame their failures on a bad PC or internet). At least I hope they won’t.
Btw I probably live 10 000 kilometers away from servers. No issue.

personally, I’d prefer they just removed the time aspect.
For example, I enjoyed going for the master crystal in Bazaar. Where you had to land the jumps perfectly, had to use an exact number of wind jumps. Thats ok.
The timer though, makes it so you don’t really have time to plan/look where you need to go.
It adds a sense of “urgency” (maybe thats what anet was going for? considering the theme….but I don’t like it.)

You will need swiftness before you put on the goggles or you ll just barily make it and die hitting the edge each time

The diving goggles are okay.
What sucks is to do this jp without zephyr crystals for the achievements. Especially since the character seems to be stopped by random lags or invisible edges all the time.

Labyrinthine cliffs was the same but only with aspects.
Seems the players want more of these added. For now I’ll stick to WvW and maybe in the next 3 years we will get something to do there other than facing the same servers over and over ad nauseam.
I spent a few hours on my mesmer helping people up to the goggles and advising them how to complete the achievement. Most people got it on the second or third try. A couple people took a try or two more. One person quit after one attempt (they didn’t listen to me and sort of jumped in a random direction).
I think the difficulty level is pretty appropriate and it encourages group play. Of course if they make all sylvari evil I might have to start telling people to jump in the completely wrong direction or warping them into thin air.
Once I learned the pattern I’m able to get up to the top almost flawlessly )and if you need to redo from the last crystal, there is plenty of time to do it), but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to make the last jump without Swiftness, and some characters don’t have easy access to Swiftness.

Actually, no.
People are able to scout their surroundings. They are able to see where the water is, and if they look up they can locate the debris, and where they should aim when at the top.
I did not make it the first time, I actually died 3 times before I got it. But I checked where the water were, and then I looked up, to use one of the big wooden beams as a guidance if I should jump over it, or before it.
So it’s very much possible to do it on the first go, it’s just that the majority of the people are so hasty and rash and needs to complete it ‘’NOW, NOW, NOW’’ in an instant, instead of taking their time to check the surroundings.
And if you want a ‘free’ achievement without training a few times on doing it for real, just wait for mesmers to start portalling the place.
This happened 30mins after release on the map I was in.
I had a great great time doing the achievement together with a guild mate!! Even though it was frustrating it was hilarious.
First of course seeing people fall and die is quite entertaining. Second, when me and my guildie got to the goggles at last, we were pumped and pumped to jump and get the achievement. Of course as pumped as we were, we didn’t scout the area before and expected to jump in water like the usual goggle dives. It was misty too so. we put on the goggles and jumped, weeeee!!! BAM. Dead. Omg I laughed loud IRL. We died on the edge where people usually fall. It was hilarious because we were so sure of ourselves, hilarious, my eyes teared from laughing.
Then after many attempts to go up again, we tried it again this time scouted the area, pinged the water. Goggles on, ready! And jump. BAM! Landed on the bamboo stick. Hilarous. We didnt expect that to happen either.
So after taking a break from the goggles, we did some events went back up and got it on our 3rd try (long time to get up there). That was awesome! So all in all, I thought I was a blast, especially doing it with someone from your guild or friends whatever.

Only three years? You’re a bit optimistic on that. Maybe they will surprise us in a few years and announce GvG maps, 10v10, 15v15, 20v20 league tables and stimulate the real pvp that could be good in this game. By then of course all us wvw’ers will have given up after getting new content and they will entice us back by making it an expansion that needs to be paid for.
Its very easy, just use swiftness buff before using goggles and jump, if not you probably dont reach water. Only think that should be made by anet is waypoint close to this jp. Running back all the way from zone start is super annoying.

i put on the goggles and jumped in the hay from the highest vantage point = death, oops i did it ?wrong.. you have to climb without crystals to the hay and jump in the hay the goggles are for umm, water 2 miles away in a place i didn’t even realize was there.. i thought we were going to make an attempt to lessen peoples reliance on running off to google to figure out what the Hay is going on ..seriously, you might as well make randomly killing a certain warthog in dry top an achievement but not specify what ambient creature it is.. just trial and error have players running around randomly thrashing.. ’oh, what fun it was, it took me two hours to find what i was looking for with no indicators whatsoever.. such difficult content that gave me a sense of ?accomplishment

I looked for water below before I went up, put my personal waypoint on it’s location so I would know where to jump.
My only problem was that I died when my air jumps ran out of time trying to get to the goggles.
Anyway, it’s a nice achievement.
Just ask a friend to stand into puddle while in group with you… Easy to do it then. DId it on first try… Stop whining!

Not everyone finds it so easy. And I’ll say this again.
It’s not the deaths that are annoying, it’s not the jumps.
It’s the short timer on aspect skills and lack of a wp near the puzzle.
These things just add frustration to anyone who’s already having a hard time.

So do you want difficult jumping elements now or not? You realize it’s fully optional, right? The frustration is an integral part of it, it comes from dailing at the difficulty level provided. Comparable to getting gunned down in a room in 2 seconds in a shooter on Ultra Hard.
If you play a game, and Hard is too difficult for you, do you go to Normal difficulty, or simply keep banging your head against the wall? Because I see plenty people doing the latter.
Either improve until you can do Hard difficulty, or don’t. It’s not for everyone. That’s the whole point.
You don’t all need this achievement. If you find it difficult/annoying to get, don’t.
I spent the most time last night getting up there between dives. Once I hit the branches near the water and died on those. The worst part is making your way up there, but you definitely don’t need any swiftness. Little running start past the cliff and start steering forward and left.
It’s an achievement. Try achieving something.
Took me like 20 tries, but it felt great when I got it.
I tried it with both the diving bings and yahoos, didn’t work at all, nerf!!
I havn’t rage hard since that aetherblade goggle jumps.Took me 5 times to do dry top jump.With countless of tries going to the gogle spot.
Charr is a real nightmare to do this kind things.

Let’s see, apart from 1 JP and 1 diving achievement, I see little in Chapter 1 of LS2 so far being ONLY jumping puzzles…
