Is there any way to get in there just to walk around, and look at things, or do you have to replay the living story to reenter?

Assuming you’ve already completed it, you could just start the episode and skip directly to The Mystery Cave. After that, you only need to do the short event to unlock the door, then you can just ignore everything else and simply run through the cave.
