Broken for several months now. Many types of weapons will do either extremely sporadic or zero damage. Hitbox is completely bugged. Likely won’t ever be fixed, so try using a different weapon (I now for sure that fire attuned staff will work on ele).
Can’t find any posts about it in the bug section. I’ll give the instance another shot today and unless it’s been fixed overnight I’ll make a forum post in the proper section and then I just suggest we discuss it (in great detail over and over and over again) until it gets enough attention.
Also, file in-game support tickets for this and recommend all party members that can’t hit the dragon to do the same.
If we spam it enough they can’t ignore it.
Did the run again, it can be killed with a DPS guardian using scepter in the same amount of burn phases as using greatsword. The issue with the hit box for melee is that it’s actually above the player and out of reach so you need projectile attacks to reach it.
What’s the range of the scepter? My dps guardian has a GS and a staff but I only managed to do a few % damage in the entire first burn phase. Tried to stand in front of, behind, under, inside the head but nothing seemed to help. A warrior with a hammer and a sword managed to do a bit of damage with a hammer bash attack but not with anything else.
I do tons of damage with my zerker ranger and just finishing the instance is easy enough.. even more so with a party. The question is whether it is working as intended or if it’s actually broken.
It’s at 1200 which is more than enough within the circle area that you have to fight in. I don’t know why you did so little damage as I auto-targeted it and was able to do plenty of damage. I was actually maybe at 700 range or so but I wasn’t paying attention specifically to that.
I can tell you that not being able to attack with melee weapons was not intended.
Been doing these quests over and over and over again, figured out how to kill him, i actually did, before getting disconnected.
And again, disconnected, and disconnected.
I have to RESTART it all over again, at the kitten cave… over and over and over and over AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER…
Can’t take it anymore. Can’t kittening do it, some force is refusing me to finish this quest.. I now better than to continue when someone clearly doesn’t want me to finish this quest.
Does anyone know if you still can use a mesmer portal to port outside the arena while people inside finishes it for the avoiding rock achievement?
I did it with my Ele….. cast Meteor shower and some hits in…..

I am wondering if maybe they did something silly originally and gave it two hitboxes like the caledon jungle wurm. Then they attempted to fix it …
For anyone who’s trying to do the achievements. If you go in the instance with a group and have the character who wants the achievement die just at the beginning phase with the tendrils (without getting hit by rocks) and have the rest of the party finish the instance you’ll get all the APs. Then just restart and let the next character in the group stay dead while you complete it.
Just make sure you have at least one, preferably two ranged characters alive at all times or it will take you several hours…
