I feel like I’m being cheated out because there’s no rewards after you do it the first time.

You should really get the 5 reward items or whatever it is each time you replay through a story section. Specifically I’m talking about the rewards you get at the end of a section like in https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Trip_to_the_Circus

Achievements for Living World Episodes were changed to achievable during the first run-through because many lamented having to play the episodes/chapters more than once. There may be less desire to repeat episodes/chapters than one might think.

How are you being cheated? The game has only ever offered a reward for the first time a character completes a story instance/chapter. These rewards range from lackluster to generous, so they’d have to entirely revamp the rewards to account for some people choosing to repeat them for rewards.

LWS episodes arent really meant to be replayed they are fillers. U do the story, get the achievements and mb u farm the new maps for some currencies but thats all there is.

Not sure instances are supposed to be the main content of the game. I was under the impression it was supposed to be the open world.

Living sotry is open world. IFmf by open world you mean metas bosses and such then that floped them moment they stoped adding world bosses and metas. Since the main pve team ia the lw one then thay makes living world the main pve content.

You get to re-experience the story, which is the main point of the story instances anyway. If you want something repeatable for rewards, do fractals or raids.

Living story is not open world and is not the main pve content. There’s a fractal team, a raid team and an expansion team, how is the living world the main pve team?

And they didn’t stop adding metas, they added 4 with HoT. If you mean the ls3 maps, it’s obvious why that is, and it shouldn’t need explaining.

The rewards from these story missions aren’t such that you could exploit it somehow. You could easily just run events and get as much loot if not more…but why get NOTHING if you WANTED to do it again or maybe with a friend who’s doing it for the first time? Do you get NOTHING for running a dungeon again? Do you get NOTHING for doing pretty much anything else in this game again? So why should the story missions be any different?

The point is: why is this change beneficial? It’s an MMO and it’s reasonable for ANet to encourage us into the open world. This would take away resources from new stories and from new rewards.

Further, some stories already offer substantive benefits for completing them once. ANet would have to rebalance the rewards if it becomes possible to repeat them. I know I’ve gone through several stories on multiple characters because they were a painless way to obtain certain mats or other benefits.

So why is this change more important for more of the community than any of the dozens of other things ANet already has planned or any of the thousands of things the community wants?

Has the biggest size of team put out the most concistent content updates they make the biggest fuss when and episode is out and their most rescoures prob go to them. Idk about you but that seems like the kind of focus a main pve aspect would get.

People have also been asking for maps without a meta, where they don’t feel pressured for time. Different folks like different things.

Because it’s the nature of living world to be periodic. The main focus is not decided by who releases content. You can play old content, too, you know, and it’s the existing content like HoT metas, fractals and raids that sustain the game. And there’s plenty of hype when fractals and raids are released.

Living world is about releasing lore and filling the gap between expansions.

Ppl are not a blob with a single opinion.

As for why they are not releasing more metas, it’s simple. Ls3 maps are not meant to compete with expansion maps. Metas split the playerbase, and with another expansion in the horizon, they don’t want to have too many overlapping metas.
