New Dungeons
Making dungeons be required to move to new parts of the story would be a Very Bad Idea. It would basically stop people from advancing until they can get a team together to do that part of the story, and if it’s a player that doesn’t like dungeons they’d be stuck at that point.
However, adding in new dungeons in new areas as they’re introduced would be a great idea. I could easily see an Inquest dungeon being added to Dry Top, for example. The challenge will be to make them interesting and fitting for the area.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
We will most likely see 1 new Dungeon for the Maguuma Jungle area and if lucky 2 new dungeons once the Maguuma Jungle becomes big enough.
I’m in agreement with Palador. Locking content based on progression through dungeons is a bad idea. Sounds great in theory but given how dungeon runs work currently as they are, it would be too much of a hassle than its worth.
I don’t thinking locking the LS content behind dungeons is a great idea, but I do think that a new dungeon or two every season is a good call.
Basically, have the LS bit be the “story mode” only a little easier like the solo story instances, and use the explorable paths as more classic dungeon content.

Use the area for a solo instance in the LS, and then that unlocks access to the “explorable paths” version of the area, separate from playing the LS? That would be kind of cool, actually. It gets more people playing through the area, so it sees more use than a normal dungeon does (as even the solo players would see it). It also lets the solo players see the dungeon, so they don’t feel cut out of content that’s outside of their play style.
