New LS3 Trailer
looks amazing but now my recommended section is full of trailers for that awful tmnt movie; thanks anet . . .
Eeerrhm… please correct me if I’m mistaken, but way back, when raids were first released as the “top tier hard content only a few players will be able experience”, didn’t the devs also say that their story will be completely separate from the main plot?
Then why is the trailer full of Xera’s castle and White mantle hints? You know… the stuff that was supposed to be contained to raids? Hello? Or do you think most “single-player people” (where personal story is analogous to playing any singleplayer game on easy/normal difficulty) will just handwave being basically told “Oh we can’t let you experience all of the story because you’re not good enough/dedicated enough player, so just catch up.”?
(And if some smartpants Jack runs over here to tell me to “learn 2 play noob and go raiding”, I actually am a raider, I’m killing the raid bosses on weekly basis, so it technically doesn’t concern me, but that doesn’t mean I can’t find it a bit of a kitten move towards those who can’t raid, in case it’s what it seems to be.)

hey man, I already made other topic about this problem

100% agree with you.
so… Eir has a fancy funeral, good for her. i hope Trahearne gets one as well, he sure deserves it.
Yeeesssss. Love it!!!

Devs never said that raids would be completely separate, they said that raid story is not a pre-requisite for experiencing any Living World story.
“Beware he who would deny you access to information,
for in his heart he dreams himself your master.”
Caudecus (or at least his VA) is character talking about taking the thrown in the trailer. I wish I posted this sooner, but this pretty much confirms Caudecus is or is carrying Lazarus the Dire.
Anyone who thought that the raid story was not going to connect to this story was living with their head in the sand. The current events pretty much confirmed that the white mantle were going to be key to the story.
And odds are, this story will just be a trailer for xpac 2, just like LS2 was just a advertisement for HoT.
Anyone want to explain what whoever is talking is saying? The music’s so loud I can’t make out more than the odd word…
Caudecus is definitely playing is hand, and Rytlock is remembering Eir.

“There’s a hotbed of activity up north that will carry a good friend on a Glide-r-Tron all the way to the throne of a time for celebration boosters.”
I might have conflated the limited details in the trailer and blog entries. You might want to check it out yourself.

Because ANet are going to reuse the raid maps for the LW most probably, so everyone can see the “raid” but not.

Mordemoth is going to take revenge and burn Divinity’s Reach to the ground, as I have said all along. The sylvari will be free!
To dispel the anger at LW being tied to raid story, here’s a quote from a dev a month ago:
“Hey there. I’ve been seeing some comments regarding the story and lore in the Forsaken Thicket raid, and how that fits into Guild Wars 2. We appreciate your enthusiasm! Just wanted to clarify a few things:
It will not be necessary to play Forsaken Thicket—or any future raid—in order to complete Living World or expansion stories. Raids do not gate main story progress.
Raid stories can—and should—be thematically tied to Tyrian lore and enhance the game.
If any lore information from the raids is relevant to storylines in other content, we’ll make sure that information is also available in that other content.
Raids present story in a different manner than elsewhere in the game. They are not a replacement for Living World, expansion, or Personal Story.
Output from the raids team isn’t coming at the expense of other projects in development. Raids are made independently of Living World. We do communicate regularly with that team (and we share some resources and assets in both directions) but neither team prevents the other from doing its job.
The Forsaken Thicket story will conclude with the release of Stronghold of the Faithful on June 14.
Raids are not part of our Living World episodes; they are separate game elements.
More information regarding Living World Season 3 will be announced in the future. As always, content will be released when it is ready to ensure the optimal quality for our fans. Hang tight.
I hope this helps people understand things a bit better. Thanks!”

“Beware he who would deny you access to information,
for in his heart he dreams himself your master.”
Yeah, that post never promised the LS won’t be tied to the raid story, and never addressed the core of the complains at that time. It has just been done in a way that made most people not notice tha it had, in fact, confirmed the worst fears then.

You can consider the Raids a PROLOGUE. Not necessary for the story, but you may get more out of it if you read the prologue. This is the proper way of doing the raids imo as it provides more for folks who want to fight for it.
So raiders will always be the first to get the breaking news while the rest will have to read the wiki and watch youtube? How fun.

Yeah, how dare people be rewarded for doing challenging content

Rytlock: “To a great warrior and friend! Goodbye, Eir.” (With shot of Eir’s face)
Asura (I think): “There’s a hotbed of activity up north!” (With image of airship en route)
Human man: “They will carry me all the way to the throne of Kryta.” (with images of White Mantle in combat)
Note that the figure we see leaping and slashing with a sword is Canach, and he seems to be in the same White Mantle area as the figure in Phalanx we see right after the raid keep goes kablooey in the trailer.

Uh… except they already are? Or do you think the gold and ascended drops and exclusive skins and legendary armor are just some trash nobody wanted…
Story isn’t a reward, it’s the point of many people playing the game. Raids are part of the game that ANet said is “only for the select few” and they indeed are. That select few tends to be rather far from people playing games for their stories.

The raid is not a story, it’s teasers of what is going to be the story. A preview can easily be considered a reward.
If you want it, do what it takes to get it instead of asking stuff be reduced to where you don’t have to succeed in the challenges that many people have already shown to be possible. A group 4-manned VG earlier this week, so I can’t exactly say that it has to be for the “select few”, especially when considering that wing 3 (which contains the vast majority of these previews) is the easiest yet and more people can clear it without as much trouble.

Looks awesome! I haven’t seen a good Trailer from ANET for a while now. Great Job!!!
Great Sound <3333333333333 My Favourite! <3
Amazing trailer… and it means.. new war of Kryta! Ouch! If they do something to queen Jennah, I swear I’ll hunt down every single White Mantle and kill them with the most painful way they could imagine.. nope, they couldn’t even imagine what I’ll do with them.. and I’ll start with Caudecus first..
by the way… does this mean we’ll go north of Kryta maybe? Woodland Cascades? Yay!

If the developers actually intended for the story prelude – or chapter one – to be a “reward” for raiders, then this game has drifted a long way from where it started and the developers have forgotten the players/customers that made the game such a success for 3+ years.
I don’t believe that for a second. I think they simply made some bad decisions as they experimented with raids and storylines. Now it’s time to learn from those mistakes, adapt their approach to raiding and not make them again.
They did nothing wrong with the raid story. There’s nothing wrong with story content that complements a much larger story. What they have done so far is commonly done in books and other media.
You’re criticizing it before it’s even out and ignoring what Anet has said as well. You’re just assuming the worst when there is little evidence to suggest it will be that way.
Do people complain about dungeons exclusively having gigantic swaths of the main story? Dungeon stories are far, far more relevant than what the raid story seems to be. They’ve already been setting up the White Mantle in the open world and human personal stories. The raid really seems like an aside that will possibly double as an additional prelude. Nevermind that the LS3 content does not seem like it is going to be exclusively White Mantle related (it looks like we will be revisiting ley lines as a plot element as well) and it will continue to arc into other areas, up to and including an expansion.

Oh right, suuure. And the four guys who did the 4man VG were casual group who can only play an hour a day, right?
As I stated above, I am a raider. I completed the raids, I farm them weekly. But I’m also a gamer and I can afford to spend hours to learn the bosses before being able to handle them with ease (unless you want to tell me the 4-manned group also one-shot it on their first try because they were either savants or they just didn’t need the mechanics, because the raids are that easy).
But I’m also painfully aware not everyone has that kind of time, patience or skill. Raid is far beyond what the story-related content required so far to the point of being out of reach.
I don’t want raids to be nerfed (I very much enjoy the challenge), but putting a much more casual content (story) to be gated behind them is just plain stupid. When I go and play the story, I want to experience it myself, not having to rely to my “cool raider friend” or WoodenPotatoes to explain to me what’s been locked away.
Do people complain about dungeons exclusively having gigantic swaths of the main story?
Are dungeons as difficult and exclusionay as raids? No? Then you have your answer.
They’ve already been setting up the White Mantle in the open world and human personal stories.
It’s only in one of the three human stories, and the white mantle presented therein is way different to what we see now. And the last Bandit events cannot be even compared to raids in amount of story they contain.
The raid really seems like an aside that will possibly double as an additional prelude.
It can turn out that way, but for now it seems to be much more important than you make it to be.
Nevermind that the LS3 content does not seem like it is going to be exclusively White Mantle related
It still seems to be one of the core plotlines, and the one that’s for now highlighted the most.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
I really don’t understand people that complain about the involvement of the Raid story in LWS3. Shouldn’t you be happy that you’ll get that story? Maybe even be able to play it in the same instances as the Raids? Besides, not like the Raids story was anything more than discovering that the White Mantle are back…
I just looked at the trailer video from WoodenPotatoes and I noticed a few things he didn’t touch upon. For example, the shot where you see leyline energy and red energy (bloodstone magic I assume) enter some weird central point in a leyline cave you can see a tropical plant in the background. I think this cave will be placed below the 3rd raid wing, above Verdant Brink.
Another thing in that same shot (which might just be my imagination) is that it almost looks as if there is a magical being inside that spot, you can see what seems like 2 arms with hands that are not moving, even though in the shot all the rest of the magic is moving about.
Then further on you see a huge shot of the airship and the red ring in the terrain, I’ve heard people say maybe it’s x y z place. But if you look closely… it’s water. The ring is surrounded by waves. I think the bug with Lake Doric map completion that’s been going about pretty much strongly suggests that this hole will be in that new map.

That’s not a new map. That’s an old one that had been abandoned way before launch.

I don’t like how in every video they just flash 1 second of scenic frames and then fade to black over and over.
It would be better just to have an uninterrupted glimpse of some action or story.
We are Brill’s son Champion doesn’t that sound awesome ? :o
i just can’t wait to see what is happening to the egg…
Ok, color me uninformed, but who is Brill???

Well i don’t want to spoil anything with your question i though you were a new player…
That being said, i think know you have your answers.
About Glint, maybe she will reincarnate with the egg ( so baby Glint incoming perhaps…) or it will definitely be a new dragon, we’ll know soon enough !
