Are we likely to see any adjustments to the rewards or scaling on some of the events in the new maps?
I don’t see why the most challenging/lengthiest boss events in Ember Bay don’t have an ancient chest at the end – it just means no-one ever bothers with them. The bosses in Bitterfrost Frontier are similarly underwhelming, giving you no real reason to kill all of them other than the standard champion bags.

Scaling-wise I don’t think I’ve ever seen done the event to stop the lagoon being frozen. I’ve actually seen people jump into the pool to wait until it fails because they know there’s no chance of success.

I’ve done the event to stop it from being frozen. It just takes so long to do that it’s quicker to just let it fail and then reclaim it.

I don’t see them really touching the rewards on EB’s couple of bosses. There’s the daily which will persuade players to do it when either of those two bosses are up.

The lack of any sort of meta for Bitterfrost was disappointing. It would have been nice if a world boss would spawn after clearing everything.

Yea, I can imagine their being a sweet spot for number of people on the lagoon event but the scaling is definitely bad.
I’m increasingly seeing people ignore the jade construct even if it is a daily – a map I was on today for example had a bunch of people doing sloth then dominator then wurm but no-one even tried to do the construct. Even if the daily was enough to persuade people it’s still mad to give the best rewards to the easiest events.

It feels like Bitterfrost was supposed to have an extra event after it (maybe with a claw of Jormag?) but that they didn’t have time to put it in or something.

Or maybe each of the maps is getting a major meta event later on in the story. (A player can dream, right?)

If you haven’t been to the hot springs event in a while, it used to be impossible because it was basically scaled for every NPC there. It’s easy now, but timed defense events are not worth the time they take.

It really doesn’t make sense with how the ancient chests are distributed. The wurm isn’t even a group event. With only a few people, the sloth queen is probably the most challenging, but only because it takes one person to fail it – stop DPS. The karka queen is the clear winner however. Even the escort spawns elites when done solo, but the queen itself has retaliation, a deadly ~20k jump and a spit that only gets faster. The jade is actually easy. You simply go in melee range, dodge its swings, juke its spin, and do the most damage to keep aggro so all the people on the ledge can AFK.

These events are already balanced for ~3 people. Only BF really needs to be toned down, mainly the jades.

Unfortunately as the plan seems to be to introduce a new map with each episode I doubt we’ll be heading back to any of the maps later. Maybe if we’re really lucky they might expand Bitterfrost Frontier?

Unfortunately as the plan seems to be to introduce a new map with each episode I doubt we’ll be heading back to any of the maps later. Maybe if we’re really lucky they might expand Bitterfrost Frontier?

I wasn’t aware we know the plan for the next story updates. We know that we got three new maps for the last three story episodes, but we also know that we got progressive updates to existing ‘new’ zones during LS2. Bitterfrost & Ember Bay have enough room to accommodate new chained events (Bloodstone Fen is also plenty big; it just seems to be otherwise occupied or broken into pieces already.)

Uhm, everytime I happen to run into that event, we are actually doing it and succeed.

What “time-consuming” bosses in Ember Bay were you talking about, by the way? I haven’t seen any.

The bosses of Ember Bay are laughable easy and on a really short cooldown, they don’t “deserve” to have better rewards. They don’t even take time to kill, their pre-events usually take longer than the actual boss events, so making the pre-events more rewarding is better than making the bosses more rewarding

They stated in an AMA a while ago that the plan was for each episode to have its own map. Given the amount of story we get with each episode and the fact that they’ll probably want to use the new map for a lot of that story there just doesn’t seem room for them to revisit old maps like they did in LS2.

That would just lead to people never doing the actual boss.
It’s not about how good the rewards are in general, it’s that of the 5 bosses the 3 insanely easy ones have ancient chests and the two slightly hard ones don’t.
The cooldown also doesn’t matter as you only get the chest once per boss per day (per character).

Fair enough. The exact quote was:

a new map per episode is something we’re trying to do for each Living World update.

So regardless of whether they could add a new world boss to any/each of the three new maps, that isn’t part of their original plan.

We might though. In the last AMA one of the devs said that there were 3 different teams working on LWS3. Now that episode 3 was released we have cycled through every team once, which means that Episode 4 will be made by the same team that worked on BF. Its not entirely out of the realm of possibilities that they expand BF when episode 4 is released (part of this assumption is also based on that I vaguely remember something about BF not being fully released yet? But I can’t recall if that was a dev that said that or player speculation at the time episode 1 was released).

Ever wonder why the sloth queen dies so fast? These events are balanced for 2-3 people. With those numbers, you can’t out DPS her heal, so you actually have to wait out the food delivery. The event actually takes around 4 minutes.

What “time-consuming” bosses in Ember Bay were you talking about, by the way? I haven’t seen any.

Probably the jade, considering a lot of people fail/ignore it. The encounter is basically a skill test. If no one does it properly, the people on the ledge will constantly be shot at which can turn it into a mess taking 10+ minutes and likely failing. All it takes is one person in melee range to tank it, then the ledge is safe and it’ll only take ~4 minutes.
