Next Living World release revealed
Does indeed look new, and would more or less confirm that we are going towards Brisban and starting to see some Mordy stuff.
Hopefully that means it is closer than we think (having Head-start of China start today would mean it is quite possible that we will get some info quite soon).

Finally SOMETHING!
Nice find!
Thank you.
If that were connected to mordremoth then that would confirm the nightmare court’s connection to the dragon. Or they just really like the same designs.

It should be noted that we don’t really know what Mordremoth’s corruption looks like yet (if I had to guess, I’d say something like this, this, or this). All of those are strong contenders for minions of Mordremoth, as they’re all active at sites that are suspected to be related to jungle dragon corruption, but the Nightmare Court are almost always conspicuously absent at those same sites.
That bright glowing purple isn’t consistent with any of the suspected Mordremoth minions so far, either in-game or in concept art. Nor is it really that close to what we see from the Nightmare Court, if you ask me—purple is definitely a common part of the Nightmare Court design palette, but I can’t remember ever seeing it glow like that before. It reminds me more of Branded, to tell you the truth.
Nightmare Court weapons from TA glow purple. /shrug
IIRC, the Court also already have a presence in Brisban, and I suspect that they would welcome Mordy’s corruption with open arms, at least at first. See it as a way to spread further havoc in the Dream, and all that. At least until Mordy/Mordy’s minions show the same courtesy to the Courtiers that they do to everyone else.
An Officer and a Gentlewoman
One thing bugs me. Why the filename contains ‘brisban’ in it? Is this a concept art for Brisban Wildlands post-Mordremoth awakening? Maybe we will se part of the Wildlands corrupted by Mordremoth, or even the whole zone affected, thus ogiving us free access to further parts of Maguuma…

It sounds like you’re proposing that the Nightmare Court would readily be some sort of Sons of Svanir-type organisation, but for the sylvari. Actually, the Nightmare Court was founded in order to fight the Elder Dragons. Its founder, Cadeyrn, believed that the Ventari Tablet was, to make a long story short, making the sylvari weak, and that its influence could be removed by committing depraved acts (which would be added to the collective memory of the sylvari, thereby making the Dream a darker place and “correcting” for the influence of the Ventari Tablet). Of course, as we know from Malyck, a sylvari without a Dream is not, by default, evil.
That’s not to say that the Nightmare Court aren’t related to Mordremoth, though. Scarlet Briar’s journal, as well as several other sources, suggests that the dragon spreads its corruption via nightmare, for example. It’s just that the Nightmare Court don’t seem aware that what they’re doing plays into Mordremoth’s hands. They are similar to dragon minions in that once you fall to Nightmare, you never go back. Nobody ever defects from the Nightmare Court—incredible, when you think that even the Sons of Svanir have their defectors. But to have the amount of free will that Nightmare Court members possess, according to Professor Gorr’s theory of draconic enchanto-consumption they’d all have to be extraordinarily powerful minions, which simply isn’t something we on an individual level with the Nightmare Court.
You’re right about the Nightmare weapons from Twilight Arbor, though. They glow the same bright purple we seem here, so perhaps the case for their involvement is much stronger than I originally thought. What do we know about existing Nightmare Court activity in the Brisban Wildlands? Well, last we heard they were attempting to form a Sinister Triad with the Inquest and, don’t you know it, the bandits, who were suggested by Seraph Belinda Delaqua to be currently disrupting the economy of Divinity’s Reach.

So I was poking around concept art websites (again), and found this page on Naomi Baker.
Is that first page you linked where you found the actual image? Because I just checked it now and can’t find the image you attached to your post. Perhaps someone caught wind of it and had it removed? xD

Ha! Yes, it was. Looks like it’s been removed now. There must be something to this then :P

No it wont happen!
Do you want to know how I know?
Because you just leaked it!
Remember what happened the last time people leaked stuff about the upcoming living world?
A-net will now re-draw those images and change the entire story they planned…
The new living world will be about Trahearne fighting Scarlets Ghost (while you do all the work) and get him self decleared true hero of Tyria.

I guess Mordremoth’s corruption looks like the image below.
I would presume, summoned husks and shadow of the dragon should definitely be connected with the elder dragon’s corruption.

Interesting thing to note: the image attached in the OP is no longer on Naimi’s site.
A similar thing happened with Edge of Destiny – J. Robert King made mention on Matt Forbeck’s website where Matt mentioned how he enjoyed writing for the GW universe that King also enjoyed such; on his website a new novel titled “Dragonrise” showed up, and was later taken down. Dragonrise was used as a chapter title in Edge of Destiny.
There are other cases where things Anet don’t want known were put up before desired and were subsequently taken down. So I think that concept art is legit for the beginning of season 2.
I would note as for release time – we likely won’t get it until June or July, given the Chinese release this month.
Now, whether this ties to Mordremoth – or just simply to the Nightmare Court – is hard to tell outright. Belinda mentions black market folks, obviously this refers to the bandits and possibly Fort Vandal (here’s hoping we get that as a new dungeon!), so the NC could be related via the Sinister Triad. Alternatively, Jeff Grubb has said that “purple is the color of evil” in the GWverse (this was back in ‘09 or ’10 when people were theorizing a connection between Abaddon and Kralkatorrik due to the shared color purple in themes – in-game, we see purple heavily used in Cursed Shore and Arah areas periodically (such as Desmina’s Hollows)), so it being tied to Mordremoth, whom would be evil, would be unsurprising without it also tying to the Nightmare Court despite shared color and theme. Though if Scarlet’s tied to Mordremoth (we still do not have definitive support for such, despite Tamias’ claims that come about via Occam’s Razor), I suspect his color of corruption will be blue-black (the Aetherized Nightmare Weapons and the Toxic Spores are of such colors).
@Kite: Not everything that’s accidentally leaked and found gets changed. And when it does, most of the time its just superfluous – like the title of a novel.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
Is this effect new too?
Is this effect new too?
no, that’s radiation from the Thaumanova reactor.
@Konig’s mention of Nightmare Court…
I don’t frequent the forums as often as I should, so I miss speculation storms. But has anyone considered the Nightmare Court as a possible pre-existing hint to Mordy? Could the Nightmare be its corruption of the Sylvari, the slow creation of pre-awakening sleeper agents out of the one sentient race that the other elder dragons apparently can’t touch? That first attached art reminds me of a section at the start of “What Scarlet Saw”…
“The sylvari woman brought her open hand up and spread her fingers wide. A thin vine crawled from her sleeve and began weaving between her splayed digits…
…Small red thorns sprang up from the vine between Scarlet’s fingers. She smiled."
After she contacted that, at the time unknown, entity during Omadd’s experiment, that entity we can now easily surmise to be Mordremoth, she gained the traits of the Nightmare Court. Through her journal, audio logs, and actions, we saw her rebelling against her source of corruption, which ultimately woke Mordy. Was this a veiled historical repeat of Glint’s rebellion against Kraik? Was Scarlet supposed to be the first Champion of Mordremoth?
I know this post is a little disjointed; I just woke up. But with Scarlet as a metric, it just all makes sense.

Only everyone and their mother. All these theories have already come up. Sylvari naturally supposed to be dragon minions is a very popular one.
The Nightmare Court being influenced/corrupted by Mordremoth is the “tamer” side of the “sylvari are Mordremoth’s dragon minions!” theory, which I would be more inclined to argue (the NC one) over the other simply due to all the pieces of evidence for and against both theories. But it is fully possible that both are unrelated.

good find but lets not get too excited yet. It could be months before we see anything new.
what’s worrying is they have planned this story out since Scarlets creation when the writers were NOT doing a very good job of creating an engaging story.
I hope they are removing all the boring stuff like trade agreements and employment contract disputes which for some reason they thought was good entertaining content.
This is really interesting and exciting! Looking forward to cutting down devourers in the jungle again.
Reminds me of the Nightmare Court + Tower of Nightmares.
Looking forward to this, though it might be a while off before we get it.
Tiny question on upcoming LS season and predictions here. With Mordremoth and obviously some sort of elder dragon corruption tied in with the story in Maguuma Jungle now, I was a bit curious when I came across some concept art done by Kekai Kotaki.
There’s a series of artworks dubbed ‘Evil Sylvari’ and maybe they’re just what became Nightmare Court because at that point of drawing the artists maybe just imagined Nightmare Court as evil version of the Sylvari. However, they don’t look so much like any of the incarnations we’ve seen of the Nightmare Court so far – maybe with the exception of some of the Toxic Alliance.
Here’s the concept art:

Plus an evil forest plant mob:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Evil_plant_enemy_concept_art_2.jpg
These evil Sylvari distinguish themselves quite a lot from the Nightmare Court sylvari who are less “viny” and less thwarted/transformed, which could seem a bit like the corruption of an elder forest/jungle dragon like Mordremoth’s work.
Could we be seeing a new sylvari enemy and derivates of them like those husks/beasts in the upcoming season of Living World. That would be really interesting, I think.

My prediction? We’ll be seeing a lot more of the immediate consequences of Scarlet’s actions. When Primordus awoke, the asura and all the other races of the Depths were forced to the surface and all their cities were destroyed. When Jormag awoke, it created inland sekittentered mountains, and forced the norn south. When Zhaitan woke, the continent of Orr was brought to the surface, and a tidal wave devastated the coast of Kryta. When Kralkatorrik awoke, the Dragonbrand cleaved the entire region of Ascalon clean in half, causing both Almorra’s Massacre and the Ogre Revolt. What I’m saying is that every Elder Dragon that has risen so far has brought with it immediate catastrophe, and we have no reason to believe that this one is any different.
I think this is where the Living Story kind of comes to a fault. I just find it weird that 1 month after Mordremoths awakening – a catastrophe happens. I sort of imagined it happening immediatly after for some reason. Anyhow – seems obvious we are going to Brisbane Wildlands. Now I am just eager to see whats really going on.

You have to keep in mind that real-life time isn’t the same as in-game time.
The attack on Lion’s Arch took place during two weeks in real-time, but in-game it took about a day, and then we retook the city and confronted Scarlet.

Hrrrmn…
It seems they went up on the wiki relatively recently, but do we know the history of those images?
They make me think of really old sylvari artwork from before the redesign, when sylvari actually had hair (or something a lot more hairlike) rather than the foliage they have on their heads now. So it may be that someone’s just found something old rather than this being a hint as to what’s to come.

It’s old concept art by Kekai Kotaki and it can be found on his website. About two thirds down.

Yeah, that’s about what I expected. I wasn’t 100% sure about the specific images, but I was pretty sure I’d seen some like those back in 2007.

Found this recently as doing some ground research in brisband wildlans, since last time, Anet implemented some clues about what will be the next patch, and I stubbled on this place wich look like a place to put something in it. It seem like Anet want to put something here but hasn’t finished it yet.
no, that’s radiation from the Thaumanova reactor.
As for what is behind your glowing purple thing, it’s improbable to be the Thaumanova as it’s is not really linked by the map as you can see in the second attachement, but Anet already made those kind of mistake before, so I have no opinion on the subject. As what behind it see the attachement 3.
I discovered this when I made a void jump inside Fort Vandal. I don’t know if it have always been there but to me it looks like a new map will be available there soon. And no. you can’t enter it… ^^

The portal has always been there… it does seem weird that they would put a disabled portal inside the fort though…
It’s been mentioned in an interview that there were things that were planned to be in the original game that were cut. They probably planned a real portal there (either to another region or to a dungeon) when Brisban was made, but didn’t get to making the location it would lead to, and since they figured people wouldn’t get to the portal in normal play, there was no need to remove it.

Ah, I see. I just learned how to void jump and I’m now exploring everywhere xD
I’m sorry if I’m being annoying. but something that I have never seen before (also inside fort vandal) There are 10 level 80 champion bandits(a great place to farm champions xD). some are Poisoner while other are saboteur. And a theory that I have is that Belinda Delaqua is suposed to go here…. maybe xD
I could be mistaken but I think Belinda Delaqua does in fact talk about going to Brisban Wildlands for an assignment. As for those champions, again they have always been there (their aggro range is huge so be careful :P )
Finally SOMETHING!
I like to think ANet is polishing the content as much as possible. But yes several weeks of silence. I guess ANets 2 week release scheduled spoiled me.

Those are the original designs of the Nightmare Court, long since scrapped.
Kekai’s works are at this point all either used or scrapped, though some (like the Ascended armor works) may be used later presently it’s only in those two categories. Kekai’s not been with ArenaNet for some time, so looking at his concept art for the newer stuff like Toxic Alliance is likely a poor direction to look.
It seems they went up on the wiki relatively recently, but do we know the history of those images?

Kekai hasn’t worked for ArenaNet since at least 2012, if not earlier. So none of his artwork for Guild Wars 2 is new, even if they’re just now going on the wikittenkai has, over the past year now, been putting up some never-before-seen GW2 concept art (mostly baby quaggan variations), which have not all gotten onto the wiki.

So we are getting another mindkitten living story, with 0 worth of content?
Years…and when I say YEARS I MEAN YEARS are passing without getting a single weapon or guild hall or other decent permanent content. Don’t even want to mention features, since they added ONE last month WOAH, hardcore progress.
Psss (whispers) other games get a whole expansion worth of content by this time.
Gw2 kind of feels like its still in beta. Don’t even bother calling me stupid…its my guildmates opinion, and I only agree.
So lets hope they give us another jumping puzzle, that is sooooo MMORPG ish…really -_- Really I came here to be Lara croft, not to combat the elder dragons that treathen Tyria.
Anyhow…I better not get into this kitten to deep..would take a library to write it all down.
On topic : Guild wars 2 artwork is like 10 times better then the game itself. Not sure, why. Truly, these excellent pieaces of art inspire me, and get me in the mood for indepth fantasy….then I get this extremely kittenty not even nearly anything I could call rpg. more like half platform console game, with some half decent system, so it looks like an mmorpg atleast by cover….So i look at these amazing artworks and it gives a really sour taste to my mouth.
Oh and sorry for all grammar kittenes…but i never learned English..nor do i wish to learn it on Gw2 forums. Happy day.
I had a feeling it would come to the Brisbain Wildlands, ever since the theories about Mordremoth popped up. Btw, I have a theory that 3 new zones will pop up this year. Why do I believe this? It’s simple.
Given that several staff members at Anet are pretty silent about what they’re doing and we’ve heard nothing of them for quite a long time, I’m willing to assume they’re working on new zones. What leads me to believe the 3 zones part? If we look at Orr, it has 3 zones connected to Zhaitan and the Orr region itself. Since we’re going directly into Maguuma Wastes, expect Brisbain Wildlands to be the Sparkfly Fen leading into the Wastes.
Not to mention there’s plenty of time to work on the zones and fix them if we go by this number. Using how long the first season of the living story lasted, we have exactly one year including the holiday events. If we subtract the mandatory 1 month and 2 weeks for Wintersday, Halloween, and whatever else festive they pop up with that has nothing to do with the Living Story, that leaves exactly 10.5 months. Divide those months left by 3, that’s about 3.5 months between zone releases. Which is more than enough time to fix the bugs of zones after they’re released, and possibly still work on new ones.
PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald
There will be at least 3 new zones in the future: one East and one North of Brisban Wildlands, and also one South-East of Mount Maelstrom… Hopefully during LS2

For someone who never learned English, you write a lot better than some native speakers.
That said, “YEARS” is not quite correct. We’ve still got a quarter before we hit the second anniversary. Granted, it’s still disappointing, but it hasn’t been out for THAT long.
If you’re comparing to Diablo 3, don’t forget that D3 released before GW2, and GW2 isn’t quite up to the point in its lifecycle that D3 was in when RoS released (D3 had its 2nd anniversary recently) – however, it is close enough that we would have heard about it by now if ArenaNet had any reasonable expectation of hitting that benchmark. It won’t be too far behind if S2 does genuinely succeed in bringing us “expansion-level content”, though. If we haven’t started seeing those new weapons and such (or an announcement giving a solid indication of when they’re coming) before the end of S2, though, I suspect a lot of people are going to decide they’re never coming and act accordingly. If they haven’t already.

“expansion-level content” isnt just a new map. it also means new skills, weapons and new classes, hello 3rd heavy armor class.
i dont know if im just a pessimist but with 2 new healing skills and 4 new traits per class in 1,5 years i dont think that we will get more this time…
