Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Elvis, Buddy Holly… man, I missed the 1950’s completely. The invention of the electric guitar (thanks Les!), Ed Sullivan… all parts of the living story that has been going on, and I missed it all. Now, I can hear tales about those days (my Dad is a true Elvis fanboy if ever there was one), even see clips from the past on YouTube or the like, but I can’t relive them. However, I do recall music doing some unique and temporary (fortunately in some cases) things in my life time. Yeah, I remember the Disco Duck. Men at Work when they were popular. Kurt Cobain before he downed himself. Plenty of musical memories of my own to take with me. Ah, but my kids… they missed the 1900s in their entirety! But they do have new content coming along now that their absorbing (and I often choose to skip)… Selene Gomez is it? All that Disney stuff… all parts of their living story that I can follow along with as well, plus I can introduce them to things of the past they may not experience first hand… but hey, my son and daughter both like AC/DC, so I’m not doing too badly.
So many complaints about what is being labelled as temporary content, so little recognition of the footprints it leaves behind that lead to future content and fun things to do. The story keeps rolling along. So enjoy tales of what you may have missed in the past. Enjoy your memories of what you’ve experienced and look forwards to what the present and live for what the future may bring. No MMO has tried something like this, not anywhere close to this degree, that I’m familiar with. Yeah, it’s possible or even likely you’ll miss something, but there’s always going to be something new coming soon. Enjoy the ride. And, in case you missed it…
