No official Ring of Fire (ep 2) announcement?
They generally give out teasers/trailers the week before. They’ve previously let the media spill the beans earlier than that (normally it’s like a day earlier, not a week though).
I’m sure there will be an announcement Soon™.
Come Tuesday. They always do this 7 days before the release,
I’m just hoping we get to travel there in a boat not some instant waypoint thing. I’d like to think its a massive journey to the islands. I want that epic vibe…

It reminds me of the docks area in Rata Sum. So maybe we’ll finally get to use them. Else it might just be a boat or something in LA, personally a little less interesting.
Hmm. They’ve certainly already long since locked in the method of getting there, but it could be fun to brainstorm ways to make a “ship voyage” work in the future. Keep in mind that even when we took ship from LA to Southsun, that meant talking to the ship NPC and then loading into Southsun, not standing on a moving deck. Also, after the first time, most players will want fast travel for future trips to the zone.
That said … what if the ship were an instance? People load in and after a bit the instance is full (with a timer so you aren’t stuck forever waiting for sailing companions) and the ship “sails” by having scenery move past it (perhaps just a loop of surging waves and billowing sails … or blue-flaming asura propellers, who knows). People can walk around on the deck, enter the cabin, climb the rigging. NPC’s shout out navigational and other sea-faring commentary. It all takes just a few minutes, maybe there’s an encounter on the way.
Just some rough ideas there.

I totally get that no one will use ship travel after the first trip.
It’s already completed mostly as an episode, but I think a cool way to implement this would be part of the living story.
A one time (optional repeatable) trip on a boat to The Ring of Fire with either some idle chit chat with your companions, or almost like an informative scene with your companions about the ring of the fire and some of the old lore associated with it.
Talk about the Door of Komalie and the white mantle, maybe the titans. Of course just an idea. That way after experiencing it once you still get the flavor but can waypoint after.
^This would be something like the first time a character enters the new Lion’s Arch. There’s a cutscene to watch. Thankfully, able to be skipped.
The boat travel reminds me a bit of using the ‘elevators’ in The Grove. Really cool the first couple of times, somewhat annoying later.
On the 13th (Tuesday), there should be a preview, with video, on it. Oh man, I wish it was here already.

I not a Roleplayer but I’d use it more than once. I like that sense of a living moving world. Back when I played WoW one thing I enjoyed was waiting on the docks for a boats to pull in, everyone jumps on board and we travel for a bit then it phases out and then you’re sailing into shore. That beginning to WotLK when you first sail into the harbour felt epic.
I know they already have it in the game when you fight Taidha Covington, and a Krytan ship pulls into the Harbour. They’ve done it part of it, now they just need to add in a few more steps.
I think it would be cool if they used the same mechanics as they did in destroying zhaitan… we could ride a ship as it takes you across the map fighting off destroyer attacks and lava fallout… could be a fun thing to do!

I would always use the ship if there was one. it would save on coin in the long run.

No matter the method I am just hoping it only involves our characters getting to BF to be good to get to the next zone. If every character we want to get there has to complete all of the first chapter and some of the second there will be a mass revolt from us altoholics!
Don’t worry, we’ll propably get a trailer tomorrow
15 seconds of flashy text animations on blurry backgrounds
5 seconds of 200000 frames too fast or too unspecific to actually learn anything
25 seconds of displaying the GW2 logo and the date of release

I am hoping so hard that the Rata Sum docks will be used as the means to access the islands. There are many areas of each home city which see no use, and I’d dearly love to have a reason to go to the docks. I find that Airships are a little too “easy”:
Need to get to an out-of-the-way location? It’s ok, there’s a handy Pact airship going that way.
…how handy.

And Wooden Potatoes will still get a 30 minute video out of it :p
It’s astounding really, what you can theorise or deduce from a 1.5 second clip on a freeze-frame. ArenaNet probably know the community will do this and maybe this is why they show what they do.
I don’t want to be told too much prior to release in the form of a trailer, it spoils the release itself. It’s more fun to make theories based on the teaser for a week.

i just hope they don’t screw up this map too, they already destroyed way to many maps to have some nostalgia back in GW2….

Wow it’s an actual trailer, not a recap disguised as a trailer this time. I’m impressed.

Wow, it looks extremely awesome! I will try to un-hype myself since to much hype is never good for the heart

Lots of interesting stuff. I saw Karka too!
I hope ya’ll excited, because the heart quests are most likely returning (with daily repeatable rewards).
I wish it was here already, the trailer gave a new level of hypeness(I don’t care if it’s not a word).
Well the last ep was good, short but good. But I am just not going to be excited much about their new content drops, HoT has caused me to lose huge interest in the game and I only come back to do the new ls when it drops (last one and 90% of the achievements too me 3 hours).
Though as said I enjoyed the last episode so I hope they can keep this going.
So now that the title caught your attention. I went into Guild Wars, Ember Light Camp in the Ring of Fire and took a few pictures and a video snippet of the area. More than likely the camp and the area beyond will become Ember Bay.
