Someone say game crash must be related to OOM
when you read the log it’s not related to that whatsoever…
As the title says, is it possible to solo the achievement “Not Under My Command”
Achievement is: Completed Caithe’s Reconnaissance withoud losing an ally
I’ve tried a few times, but it seem to be impossible to solo.
it was impossible to even do with a group, for me at least. we couldn’t make it to caithe without at least one of her allies dying first, even if we skipped and rushed to her. not sure if it’s supposed to be like this, but it feels impossible to complete
I have a feeling it’s bugged. The allies should probably have some kind of invulnerability buff similar to what the Concordia allies had so players at least have time to get to the NPCs to defend them. Wait and see what the hotfix tomorrow brings.
ye its probably something they forgot, im sure it will be fixed with the next patch like u say

We’re looking into this one, looks like it’s not working properly, thanks folks!

no, thank You:)
Oh thank god. That thing was really frustrating me.
PLEASE make sure this achievement can be solo’d.
Solo’d on mesmer. Will update before its patched I hope.
Managed to do it with a group, it’s cleary not working as intended but it felt very rewarding when we finally got it
Solo’d on thief. Just used shadow trap to get to Caithe asap. Also left mined body there. At last def phase you can just jump down and wait. It’s not necessary to fight with this mobs. But still imbalanced because it’s just impossible to save the group without portal/shadow trap.
So anets move was to admit it isn’t working right then remove the only workaround so people who didn’t get it done are screwed? what the hell.
this achievement is not bugged, we jsut got it.
at the end part you need to let 1 person stay behind with the npcs while the others counter the mobs. this way you avoid the npcs from going into combat

No one is talking about the end part, that is easy. The problem is the one-hit kill while trying to get to caithe. How did you get to caithe without the NPC’s dying? Did you use the thief/mesmer portal trick?

I’m happy that you got it, but this thread isn’t talking about the end fight or doing it in a group. The issue is when Caithe’s team wipes fairly consistently before one even has a chance to get there to save them. The issue is also about the problem that this achievement is meant to be soloable.
ANet already stated this isn’t working as intended a few posts up.
There’s nothing to look into…
Just give NPCs immortality buff from “Entangled: Concordia” to be tuened on unless we REALLY approach them and start fighting, there is one npc dead with quest star above, this one basically fails achievement from what i saw, as soon as we click this body, achievement is gone.
There you go, I helped… again.
Portal still works.
Is there any update on this since the hotfix? I’m still not getting anywhere near Caithe’s squad before I lose the achievement, and none of my squad is dying.

I don’t think your squad matters; just Caithe’s.
I made a short guide for all who don’t want to wait for the fix.
At the first try my group had problems keeping the NPCs alive during the assault phase but we found a safespot for this that should help. Even after the fix.

Fixed an issue in which the Not Under My Command achievement was incorrectly tracking the survival of Caithe’s squad, as opposed to the player’s. – HOOORAY ANET!
Still not soloable correct?
Still not soloable correct?
Fixed about 7 days ago, pretty easy to solo, super easy in a group of 2 or more.
Hrrm.. I’m not getting it – people doing it via high dps or heals and dps? Everytime I run it the NPC’s just die and die and die..
I soloed it as a ranger and am, by no means, heavy DPS. Dulfy has an excellent video guide on how to do it.

And good luck.

Did it yesterday no problems. Use the bodies to plant bombs and kite the wolves into the bombs.
I did it solo on first attempt, without any problems. Just stood on the edge of a cliff and dps’ed all minions.
Very easy to solo now, especially if you’re not doing the No Thanks to Canach achievement at the same time. Just wait for the Wolves to move away, set up a mine, pull the wolves into the mine. Move forward and repeat.
It helps if you have a character with high AoE damage or control effects. I did it on my Elementalist who specialises in AoE damage. Sandstorm with its near-constant blind makes the Wolves a cakewalk in the event I get caught out without a mine to help.
There is also a very frequent “bug” where the two NPCs you’re supposed to protect disappear (they reappear back at where they first started). This means they’re completely safe and you’re basically assured of getting the achievement.
What profession are you using? I did it solo using my staff Elementalist. 6-2-6-0-0. Brought Diamond skin but the must have skill for me that time was Glyph of Elemental Storm – Sandstorm (Earth). I just dragged 1 group, earth staff 4, Glyph of Storm (for AoE blind), fire staff 2 etc. They died before my Sandstorm was gone. Rinse repeat.
Only thing was, you had to wait for Glyph cooldown every time you needed to drag a group of wolves. Well, atleast that’s how I did mine solo successfully. So it’s possible to solo. Goodluck!

I definitely had this bug, as the last fight was just a constant pile of bodies when I got this achievement. If they were there, they would have died along with the rest of us.
I heard that if the player character dies you won’t get it. This isn’t true.
