Greetings and salutations! Now that the feature patch has been issued and the era of “Megaserver” has begun, I was wondering what people think Anet will do next.

Will they give us some details on what we can expect in season 2 living world?

Will they wait until E3 to say anything and then bam release a trailer for an expansion?

Will they split up there teams to make content specific to locations (ie: Cantha in Europe/U.S. but for China instead of that new Tyrian zones)?

Something else?

Unless something has changed Anet doesn’t do E3, they feel it’s too exclusive. To them it’s a matter of, why go to the time and effort of making a big booth and presentation that won’t be seen by fans but instead be translated to them through TV and Website reviews. They prefer GDC and PAX as those are more accessible to the public.

  1. They already did in an interview, I forgot where, in which it was said that the ending of Season 2 is set in stone, but season 2 will overall have an effect determined by player actions more than season 1, and we will learn who E is before season 2 ends (and there was more, I am sure).
  2. As Riot said, they don’t do E3.
  3. I doubt this. If they do go a different route for China, then that story content will still be made for US/EU players – except some lore aspects changed (as China’s lore is rather different, due to having to remove certain elements like for example, Caithe and Faolain weren’t lovers in China’s version). It would also be far too time consuming for such a limited scope – again, why make something exclusively for one group, if the other group is fine with it? It is more likely that if they were to split their resources, they’d do so between LW and expansions, or (one could only pray for the miracle of) between GW2 and GW1 (GW1 isn’t completely dead yet and new content would bring players back to it I’m sure – not as much now as years ago but still…. I miss GW1 and its story can continue on for a bit longer…).
Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Except that they didn’t really have a huge presence at PAX.

Colin did an interview with MMORPG (that they sent out a deceptive tweet about).

I expect ArenaNet to remain elusive on the marketing front, like they’ve been for the past few months.

I think they’ve found that over-hyping releases has very negatively backfired, so they’re being more realistic.

Likewise, NCSoft is busy promoting WildStar as “the next big thing”… So I’m guessing we won’t hear any big news until after the June 3rd release.

Season 2 may start before then, but I wouldn’t expect ANet to announce any potential expansion before then.
