Once Again, let us skip dialog on replays
I just don’t get it, it’s really a huge step backwards.
They implemented the ability to restart the encounters in the last stories and everyone was very vocal about how much they loved it. Then next update comes around … poof, forgotten.
I mean the cutscenes are great … the first 5 times -_-
Furthermore, everyone has been saying for years that they HATE1 hit mechanics. The answer must clearly be that its cause they were too easy to see! lets put it all in greyscale so nobody even has a chance of seeing them!

It’s worse doing multiple characters, I swear Faolain won’t stop talking about her stupid crap. I don’t want to spend 10 minutes watching awful people talk about how they’re justified in being awful… at least not more than once.

I played through the second time with friends and was quite annoyed by the cutscenes interrupting our chatting. xD I preferred how it was in the first parts with speech bubbles so if you’d already heard it you could chat, sort your bags, whatever.
I couldn’t be more annoyed by the no-skipping cutscene feature. Took me 6 tries to do the stealth mission achievement and coupled with the other achievements, I have basically memorized every line of each cutscene in that part of the living story.
Thats completely absurd, and I shouldn’t have to re watch a piece of the game (9+ times) just to get a couple of achievements. Replaying it is different than re watching it.
I don’t mind grinding in the SW for parts of Mordrem but after completing everything in the LW, and all the crap you have to sit through it just deters me from completing future stories.
Also seeing the pattern your taking season 2 in with the silver wastes I am not looking forward to the next chapter at all. I can already guess that were gonna have to grind for more carapace parts, and who knows, probably will be forced to play as an Engineer in the next story, whoopdi doo…
Once I remembered I could alt-tab during hte cutscenes and they keep running it got a little better.
Please – I’m sure you can stick in a skip option once you have played it once.
Caithe’s story must be so vital that we have to have it memorized. I am really over not being able to skip it. Or at least giving us individual challenge motes to restart certain challenges like the last boss. I had to put the game down because I was too perturbed about having to go through ALL that dialogue over and over again every time I got immobilized in a sandstorm. It quickly makes all of this un-fun. At the end of an achievement I want to feel “wow! I made it.” not “omg I hate them for putting me through that.”
A few months ago, this option was mentioned and a developer made comment to send it up.
So far . . . nothing.
Wish they’d at least add more ‘motes’ to restart an area where we messed up. At least, I haven’t seen any yet . . . especially for the ‘stealthing’ achievement.
God. Such a waste of time.

This is what puts me off going for achievements or even just replaying at all, Watching the same dialogue/cutscenes over and over is just so tedious.
I HATE the stealthing achievement! All the way to the very end, and always get seen. Now redo THE ENTIRE THING?

Edit: This has to be the biggest pita as far as achievements I’ve ever encountered. It wouldn’t be so bad if we didn’t have to go through ever cinematic repeatedly . . . but oh no.
Pretty kitten close to throwing in the towel and saying to hell with this game.

Yeah, it seems like the combination of very precise and tough achievements this time around and non-skippable dialogue is the surefire combo of me not finishing them on this release.
But.. But.. you said you wanted a longer LS chapter * puppy eyes *.
Please Anet, please please please…
If i have to pay diamonds to skip the dialog .. I would gladly to do it.
So please please please please please make a skip dialog bar next LS.

Yeah, was just doing some of the achievements for Meeting the Asura. Made a dumb mistake right at the end and got caught. lets just say i won’t be going for the achievements unless i can skip the dialog. its so painful going through all that after the first time.

There’s a bigger technical issue—during “in game” scenes, the NPCs are moving around and things are happening (gadgets might be activating, props may be animating, etc.) and if you just skipped all that, it could lead to some really bizarre behavior. Trying to manually set a “failsafe” to teleport the NPCs, fire off effects, etc. to replicate what the world state is if the cutscene plays is extremely tedious and error prone.
That’s why the old style “dialogue cutscenes” (and the fancy but rare full blown cinematic sequences, like the Order movies and racial intros) are skippable, because we aren’t doing anything to the world while the dialogue plays, so skipping it doesn’t have any effect. We’ve moved away from those, because the in-game scenes are a lot more satisfying, but there’s a trade off.

The ironic part is I was all but doing that between attempts. Finally got that achievement done and will never go back.

This is really the worst part of LS ever – I can’t imagine how much more f***ed up it could get – and not because it’s hard (believe me, I love hard content, love doing it and want this game to be more challenging), no, because of those f***ing annoying cutscenes.
And I really believe them (the devs, ANet) if they write stuff like

but they aren’t. Not if you have to watch them a thousand f***ing times and just can’t skip. The cutscenes in the stealth LS story part last as long as it takes me to get from the start to Vorpp – really, no s***. I had enough time to clock how long I did take from part to part (cs to cs) and how long the cs was playing…
Oh and btw.: I wrote this post during 1 run (while tabbing out of cs).
P.S.: Reminded me, while I never wanted to do LS again (did it for my g/f, who gave up on this achievement) and why it annoyed me so much (again) to go here and cry.
P.P.P.: Wouldn’t be that worse, if I didn’t bug twice into the ground after defeating Vorpp (if you knock him down close to a container) and couldn’t finish the story this way – and had to watch the CS. All. Over. Again!

I wake this thread again, PLEASE insert a skipping function to both cutscenes and dialogues! There are too many hard achievements in HoT story to be done and too hell of a long dialogues you cannot skip, Anet! Do you really believe I’m going to try not to get hit by the dragon in “prized possessions” when dialogues and kitten aren’t skippable? The kitten who came up with that should be fired… Advice, attach a "reset"button like in the adventures. How hard can it be?!
And if it’s not possible to make them skippable, why didnt you learn from the last time and REMOVE stupid achievements from story like these? -.-
