Overexposure of unique content
It’s the same answer for all these questions. If you enjoy it, play it. If you don’t enjoy it, don’t play it. If you missed it then don’t worry, there is more living story to play next month. Enjoying the game when you log on is more important than slavishly finishing achievements. Don’t set yourself goals that burn you out.
I like the description of disposable content that’s pretty much what it amounts to, it’s in no way special just a list of chores. Eventually people will get burned out on it and move on to the next thing. This will force them to actually innovate.
Ignoring it, well this works for a lot of it but not all of it. They completely removed a dungeon path and replaced it with another one, that’s something you can’t really ignore if you run dungeons; the old path in particular. It would certainly help if they gave us the ability to turn off all LW notifications in the options menu.
Since you have been absent from the game for a while i can understand your title but the subject of the topic should really be called “Overexposure of the same content” After playing it for a few months and looking past the glaze you’ll see what I mean.
To save you a little time; despite the fact the community is divided on the bi-weekly release and this has been brought to their attention and a lengthy discussion was had they have no intention of changing the release schedule at this time. I can only assume that the current model is too profitable for them right now. When the temporary players are tired of the temporary content and move on to the next big thing we may see some changes, sadly though until that time you’re just going to have to deal with it or find another game to play.

I think where the problem lies is how much the bi-weekly events foil the usual long running stories which usually drive videogames. The frequent release schedule gives it a monster of the week feel. Also the constant release of new ‘special’ items and the rewards of the achievement system and how the event achievements are one of the best way to get the points can give the feeling of chasing carrots.
There’s no feeling, it is chasing carrots. This video explains it quite well, it’s about 7 min long.

Good link mighty.
Play it now or never. This is GW2. It’s not a game, it’s a job. It’s not about fun, it’s about getting stuff done in time. If you don’t like that, play your fancy other MMOs where you can play what you want, when you want.
I like the idea of temporary content. It’s only around long enough to get old.

Excellent link. I hope that someone who can be influenced by it watches and takes it to heart here and now.
