So WP is back with speculations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Atrl9JIu_8&list=UUYUY9_i44IDNOs_Ja815mlA

And I absolutely love the theory about the realms. (I’m referring to the eternal alchemy cinematic here)
So lets assume for a second that those spheres are realms, with Tyria currently being the dominant one – the one with most magic.

Suppose one of the dragons succeeded in getting most magic out of Tyria. That would plop Tyria to the edge, with another realm into the center.

Then Tyria MUST have a DRAGON to contend for magic.

So I say: Pale Tree is that dragon. Not literally, but dragons being manifestations of certain forces (all theory), pale tree is just a manifestation of our realm’s force, and she’s naturally guarding our magic.

So she’s not evil, but she is basically the same thing dragons represent on other realms. Of course she wouldn’t assume a dragon’s shape as we all know those are bad guys. But ultimately she preaches to us to follow the Dream so that we do not stray from the path, and finish off dragons one by one, putting them back to sleep, thus safe guarding Tyria’s position in the center.

And why wouldn’t we? We live on Tyria.

Pale Tree is EVIIIL. (j/k)

If the dragons represent the realms and suck dragons for the realms, then why would Tyria’s dragon be in Tyria?

And why would Tyria need a dragon when Tyria is full of magic?

I could accept that the Pale Tree could be a “facet” like the other dragons are assumed to be, but in that case they are clearly not the same type of “facet” since the pale tree clearly isn’t a dragon while all the others are.

The Pale Tree could potentially be on the same “layer” of “facets” as the human gods perhaps in that Tyria could be the realm of the Pale Tree. In the same way that Fissure of Woe is the realm of Balthazar or Underworld is the realm of Grenth.

Or perhaps the Pale Tree is “possessed” by the real “facet” of Tyria and the Pale Tree is originally a champion of Mordremoth.

But the Pale Tree, I would say, is clearly not the same in any way as the elder dragons. At least not in this theory.

Edit: It also seems like the Pale Tree does not have a leyline since Scarlet didn’t probe in the direction of the Pale Tree. Although that doesn’t necessarily mean that there isn’t any.

How is it obvious it’s not a dragon? If dragon is simply a manifestation, a form force of other realms that sucks magic takes on Tyria, then Pale tree might be same force (responsible for Tyria), assuming a different manifestation.
If it was a different ‘facet’ that would suggest Tyria is somehow special and different. Which wouldn’t fit into this picture of eternal alchemy of 7 realms. The beauty of the theory is in its simplicity, and that is that every realm can take the center place if getting the magic ‘core’.

Edit: It also seems like the Pale Tree does not have a leyline since Scarlet didn’t probe in the direction of the Pale Tree. Although that doesn’t necessarily mean that there isn’t any.

From the original Scarlet’s picture it did seem there’s no ley line in the center and Pale Tree was apart from the surrounding 6 entities. But after watching the Eternal Alchemy cinematic it seemed to me that the tree was in fact the concentration point of all the ley lines, and looked like it was woven from them, which would make sense if it’s in the center point of Tyria’s ‘magic core’

Because the gods are not the dragons. The gods are the owners of the realms, the dragons are not. The dragons are their vacuum cleaners that suck magic to the realm.

The pale tree would be on the same layer as the gods since the pale tree would be the owner of the realm Tyria. The Pale Tree could have a dragon that sucks magic, but it would clearly not be in Tyria in order to suck magic to Tyria. If it was in Tyria, it wouldn’t be able to suck magic to Tyria.

Arguing about “simplicity is beauty” doesn’t work because it’s not an argument, it’s just how you want it to be.

The Pale Tree is not the center of the leylines in Tyria though. The center is under the Shiverpeaks according to the placement of Scarlet’s thumpers. https://dviw3bl0enbyw.cloudfront.net/uploads/forum_attachment/file/122724/drachenenergie4.jpg

Yes! Precisely. This is why it’s all theory.

That just shows to me there’s an intersection point :P

Your objections are valid, I agree. But Pale Tree being yet another god is just somehow not fitting into anything for me. Human gods look like they might be tied into 7 orbs somehow, but then again why would Pale Tree add to the pantheon? There are no openings left as far as I can see. (Dwayna, Balthazar,Kormir,Grenth,Melandru,Abaddon,Lyssa = 7)

Tyria’s ‘Dragon’ wouldn’t need to siphon anything at this point as Tyria is in the center :P Once it’s out, it would reach out to the center and start sucking it all up. :P

Meh, no point arguing really. It’s all theory. We’ll see as it progresses. But yes I’d much rather Pale Tree be manifestation of the same things dragons are manifestations of, rather than another all-saving goodie god. Neutral force of Eternal Alchemy just makes more sense from asuran point of view ;P

Right now this is the winning theory for me, as I’m sure others agree but it’s my own take and I’m fully aware that I could be wrong so it’s just a theory. I think it works best and would answer the riddle of, “Where did the seed come from.” It could also give reason as to why Mordrem exist in the first place, the Pale Tree denying Mord’s influence would mean Mord couldn’t get his “creations” to answer his call – which would also mean that the Pale Tree(s) was actively delaying his awakening.

Right now we look at the Mordrem and debate this way and that about their significance. I’m of the belief, right now anyways, that the reason why the Grove was able to grow as healthy as it did is because it didn’t have enough of Mordremoth’s presence to guide his “creations” in developing. Which would give reason as to why the Fern Hounds in Sylvari territory are healthy and loving, without a violent and destructive master – the Pale Tree(s) actively influenced them in a different way than what was originally intended.

Of course that would beg the question why he’s not going for the Pale Tree(s) and focusing elsewhere. Maybe there’s a grander scheme but when Kral awoke, he went straight South for dat booty – dat Glint booty.

I just don’t want to see The Pale Tree become a dragon (especially considering there’s supposedly more than out there) or Tyria’s immune system where as we know the Dragons work by reshaping the landscape and making way for new life to spawn. After this threat or Mord is put to an end, we could finally move onto the others and not need guidance from Sylvari :P

But then why’s the pale tree in what seems to be the center of eternal alchemy? Go figure. I think we might be stuck with sylvari for a while. Bow to your new overlords! (j/k)

Who said it was in the center of the whole picture? You practically flew through it. When we get a glimpse of what we believe is the Eternal Alchemy (7 orbs) I didn’t see a tree….

Hm I must be confusing the two then, it’s in the center of Scarlet’s picture, yet not in the eternal alchemy one, correct. Scarlet’s picture may have been wrong or representing a different thing. I thought they are the same thing, I might be wrong.

Edit: Now I look at it again (http://media.tumblr.com/7d7d7ca78a4c4e151387175c6f267cc8/tumblr_inline_n8jcgqSIkJ1shxjuk.jpg) Those might not be ley lines at all, but just the rings of the sphere – Tyria – with Pale Tree in the middle. I know NPCs dialogue in game does say this is a picture of lei lines, but NPCs could be wrong too. Or the picture’s wrong. All speculation. Meh. I like the Pale Tree = Dragons = Force theory. I’ll stick with it till game proves me wrong :P

You either only mention Abaddon, or only Kormir. Because Kormir completely replaced Abaddon.
