Path of Fire: We're not even in Elona...
Watch them try to solve these crises anyway in the expansion and fumble it spectacularly. :V
1 – A the sun-spears still more then likely exist
2 – There will still need to be an explanation about what has happened to the Ossa Bloodline.
3 – Palawa Joko still will have to be or need to be defeated.
4 – There are instances pertaining to the Charr that “I believe” talks about a hero going back to his homeland or something like that.
5 – There is no way that they are going to plot regarding the Vabbi kings go to waste, nor what happens to their descendants.
6 – Abbandons partial return in the form of knowledge that could lead onto the next plot; possible correlation to “Bubbles,” once the Elona expansion has been completed.
7 – The War between the 6 human gods.
1. Very probable, palawa joko hunted the sunspears down, and publicly humiliated them/broke their honour. But theyre not gone, theyre just.. biding? I mean, the spellbreaker cant fall out of the sky,
2. Why? The last ossa killed herself to tear a rift in the well of madness, so the realm to Abaddon could open. At best there are some Ossan nobles, but they may well have been rounded up or abandoned the family name.
3. Not necissarily, at least, not with a hurry. He’s a ruthless ruler serking to conquer Elona, but he’s never been brutal. He’s more of a rival than a villain, until he steps up his game. Unlike Balthazar and ED’s’ Pawoko can actually be reasoned with, givennyou have a ground for debate.
4. Sorry, i dont follow? Can you elaborate.
5. You mean the three princes? Its been 250 years, more than half of which under Pawoko’s rule, there is no reason to believe the three princes must still be relevant at all. They could still be there, or not, or be replaced with Pawoko puppets.
6. I do hope we learn more if Abaddon, or rather, his knowledge. But this doesnt seem like the right arc to horseshoe DSD into the story, lets wait for better timing, when we’re done in the desert, like, when we go to Cantha.
7. Hmm… thats a vague statement. I dont know what point youre making.
Who says there’s a war between the six. All we have is Balthazar saying he wants to wage war with the others. We have yet to hear of the others. Maybe theyre as powerless as pre-Lazaralthazar, maybe not
Crystal Desert solely and only.
if you look on the map to look where the dragon lair is and you compare it with old maps you will see that just by the merit of balthazar going after dragon we should get gw1 crystal desert, desolation [aka full crystal desert] and a healthy chunk of vabbi

discussion about offensive/deffensive playstyles
We are seeing only a part of one of the 5 maps coming in the expansion and who knows how many others there will be in the Living Story after the expansion, which you will not be able to access unless you bought the expansion. So we have no idea about what will all be there in the maps or not until it’s released.
If you read the Movement of the World, we already know what has happened to both Turai Ossa’s descendants and the Sunspears since GW1 – I’ve put a TLDR in the spoiler below:
Palawa Joko requires the Elonians people to give up any descendants of Turai Ossa they find, and they are conscripted into the living portion of his army.
There is a small remnant of the Sunspears still in existance, but Joko has an order of undead former Sunspears called the Mordant Crescent dedicated to hunting the last of them down.
We’ve only seen part of 1 map and the very beginning of the story so far. There is going to be a lot more to it. Having said that I think you’re right that they won’t cover everything in your list within the PoF storyline, there’s too much there. Some of it will be in future Living Story episodes, some may be in future expansions and some may not happen at all.
In particular I’m not sure we’re going to defeat Palawa Joko. I’d very much like to, especially since it was our characters short-sighted desperation that not only freed him but allowed him to re-build his power base during GW1. But it’s been 250 years and according to the PoF announcement video many of the people of Elona consider him not only their rightful ruler but the only thing keeping them safe from the dragons and other dangers.
It’d be like expecting England to overthrow the Normans in the late 13th century or the UK to reclaim the USA today. They may be experiencing a lot of problems that were directly or indirectly caused by Joko taking over but that’s been the normal state of affairs for longer than any living human can remember. To them it’s just how the world is and we don’t know if they even want it changed.
And if real-life history has taught me anything it’s that a bunch of foreigners marching in, declaring their leadership to be unethical and wrong and ‘setting them free’ without the people actually living there wanting or needing their help is not going to actually improve anything in the region.
The Vabbain princes are their bloodlines are another topic I wouldn’t expect to see addressed in PoF. Partially because Joko has been in power for so long and likely eliminated any contenders. But more importantly because they were never a conventional monarchy. Kourna was considered unusual in Elona for having a hereditary ruler – the rest of the continent had abandoned that concept following the fall of the Great Dynasty in 583AE and the Shattered Dynasty Era (described as the bloodiest conflict in Elona’s history).
The Vabbian prices weren’t princes because they’re descended from kings. They’re simply the most powerful and influential people in the region. Likewise there was absolutely no guarantee their children would inherit their positions, even without the events of Nightfall, the dragons and everything else. They might get a headstart by inheriting their parents wealth and businesses, being taught what they know and introduced to their friends and allies, but they would still have to establish themselves and earn the right to rule.
If Joko is removed from power somehow it’s possible Vabbi may revert to that system of government again. Or they may establish a conventional monarchy, or a series of elected ‘elders’ like Istan had…or something else entirely. But the descendants of 3 individuals who happened to be princes at one point hundreds of years in the past would have no more chance of being the ones to take over than any other random Elonian.
As for the other things on your list:
- I suspect you’re right that the sunspears still exist (that’s definitely what The Movement of the World told us) and I’m sure we’ll find out during the PoF storyline.
- We know what happened to the Ossa bloodline – Varesh Ossa was the only living member during GW1 and she was transformed into a Margonite and then killed.
- Not sure what you’re referring to here, I don’t remember anything about a charr hero going back to his homeland in anything to do with PoF or Nightfall.
- Abaddon cannot return – he was destroyed at the end of Nightfall and his power absorbed by Kormir. He’s gone.
- The war between the 6 gods very likely is a major part of the plot of PoF. Well…we don’t actually know there is a war as such. Some things Balthazar has said imply that he is not on good terms with the other gods and given their natures it does seem likely there was some fighting involved and will be more, but we have no idea of the extent of it or even what the causes are. But I assume we will find out.

Wasn’t it stated in lore that the River of Elon was redirected by Joko ? So of course its going to be in the wrong place after all of this time …
I’m usually really sweet… but this an internet forum and you know how it has to be.

Yes, it now flows into the Crystal Desert instead of into Vabbi – it’s how Joko conquered Vabbi, by starving them into submission. This is explained in the Movement of the World that I linked above.

it was indeed, and thats why I was warning to not be mislead by it’s new location when judging where we go and where we do not go in expac

Well from what I recall it was little bit more complicated – the draught created by sudden lack of main river has lead to a number of revolts and riots against sunspears which have weakened them to the point of being no real contester against joko’s undead armies which have led to him having easy time conquering all of it at later date.
as for sunspers, ironically movement of the world implied [in my understanding] that the hunting down of the sunspears is a finished thing – that at this point if there are any sunspears left it would be just a few lone surivors scattered and hiding around.
and then overally alot of stuff around this release now heavilly suggests that there will be region in the expansion where sunspears have actuall presence, with all the chain of command and structure preserved – and this makes me curious tbh what and where it will be

- There are instances pertaining to the Charr that “I believe” talks about a hero going back to his homeland or something like that.
My assumption/hope on this one is that it may refer to PS where you pick your heritage. I was always a little disappointed that choosing that didn’t play to much of a part other than a throwaway line or two.
With respect to the Sunspears, I wonder if they were just absorbed into the Order of Whispers, who I assume may have stuck around Elona.

well as you could see in one of newer WP vids, Spellbreaker item collection refers to NPC with a rank of “Second Spear”
last time I checked order of whisters was still riding on the whole lightbringer theme with naming their ranks so that alone woudl suggest that we are to meet an organised structure deriving from sunspear ranks – considerign they were nto mentioned as “major” players in the expac I suppose they may be a sort of side-track to the joko’s part [some sort of small scale anti-joko resistance perhaps?]

There is NO WAY that that Anet is going to be able to solve all three crisis pertaining too Palawa Joko, Balthazar, and Crystal Dragon in this short continuation NOT POSSIBLE.
Sure they can. The final meta will be a massive battle between the armies of Palawa Joko, Balthazar, the big K and the good guys – a battle of the four armies, if you will.
In the end, the PC will have to sneak past all the enemy forces and drop Balthazar’s favorite ring (the one he got from his mother) into Mount Maelstrom’s sister-volcano, Mount Malodramaticus.
I also heard that they were going to have some kind of flying eagle mounts in this expansion which could take the PC straight to the volcano but for some reason those mounts were canned.

With PoF,we will see all the Crystal desert, almost all the Desolation and Vabbi…We will probably explore Korna,Istan, the last part of the Desolation and eventually the torment with the living story 4(6/8 maps),this is more than enough.
We need 2 years or even less .
Balthazar and the big K will probably die in this expansion(maybe Aurene absorb all the magic to save the world) and Palawa will be defeated during the living story(a reason to explore the south).
I think that the next expansion will focus on Cantha/Buble or Primordius/Jormag(again).
