Periscopes, those annoying things you find around the world, do you like them? What do you think of the rewards?
For me, I really dislike them for two reasons. The first being they are annoying, there range is so long and if getting hit when you are just trying to get past is not annoying enough: they then knock you down. I mean I do not even want to fight them but they just hit you down, without you going near them or attacking them.

The second reason would be the reward, I really thing giving Karma as a reward is silly. Who doesn’t have more Karma then they know what to do with? If you do not, then you probably used it to get your legendary but then you don’t really need any. So if you want me to want to kill these, they need to have something I want to get. For example a chance to get a token to get one of those nice F&F weapons.

So what do you think?

Lets see who wants these to be use more and who hates them!

Post “1up” for keeping them.

Post “FAIL”, if you want them removed.

I’m not a fan of the short answer system you are asking, as they tend to be the lowest form of feedback. Just a step up from the infamous “^” reply.

Personally, I don’t find them particularly enjoyable. If they didn’t have such an annoying knockback attack I might consider them more worth my time. The reward is rather subpar, but if they weren’t such a pain the butt I think it would be fairly acquitted. They seem to want people to be killing them en-mass, which would explain the reasoning for the small reward, but mechanically they are just far too much work. The event that sometimes pops up from nearly killing them also slows it down by a lot as well. Not to mention these events can be excessively difficult for low level solo adventurers.

i agree, I started to take one of my alts through the starter zones again and by god these things are really annoying, it makes passing through some areas an absolute pain- getting knocked down 2-3 times for the 2 seconds? (whatever it is, is ridiculously long) and what makes it more annoying is you’re fighting mobs at the same time and one just happens to be there, I actually saw a low level who died to this exact thing I described, it was quite humorous until I went to revive him and got knocked back to infinity.

I get why they have to have all their events in the starter zones but sometimes they just need to tone it back a little…..

I hate those things too, but i have my monthly so i can leave them be now. The knockdown is annoying when you are fighting mobs that close around it.

Follow your heart and your dreams won’t be far behind.

Annoying and irritating are what I’ve been seeing other people call them. I agree and those are two adjective you do not associated with anything in a game.

Implementing a mechanic whose sole function is to interfere with player travel is a bad idea. If I’m trying to get from point A to point B, don’t make that already less than exciting process irritating.

ArenaNet seemed to understand the importance of streamlined travel when they gave us waypoints and a variety of skills to improve speed. Then they backslide with things like periscopes and those bloody head crabs on Southsun Cove.

I will very glad to see them vanish from the game and never return.

Actually i think ANet see swiftness as a defensive boon, not a travel aid. This because they are hell bent on making movement our primary defensive tool.
