Guild Wars 2

So, I’ve been playing GW2 for a while now and I have all of the content unlocked (specifically Living World s2). I have already played though it and enjoyed the story and all that. My question is, can a friend of mine join me as I replay the chapters? Said friend had been playing for a shorter time and doesn’t have LWs2 unlocked. Same question for Heart of Thorns. Can said buddy join me in replaying my chapters (they have the expansion)?

yes, your friend can join you in the LWs2, even if they don’t have the content themselves. they won’t get any of the rewards though.

if they have HoT, they can join you in the HoT story too. they don’t have to be at that place in the story themselves.

Since your friend has HoT, it might work better for you to join them in their HoT chapters. That way they definitely get credit and rewards, and you can work on achieves while helping them with their first run through.

As they don’t have LS2, you’ll need to be the instance starter there. They won’t be able to trigger objects or dialogues so make sure to give them a chance to read before you click Next (in the case of books in Arcana Obscura, I think they can’t even see the contents so you might want to be on voice chat and read books to them). They will see the cinematics (unless there is a bug, I know I was helping someone with a HoT chapter and I got a black screen until the cinematic ended). So they’ll get to see all the story as long as you let cinematics run and relay dialogue box info to them.
