The farmers on lake doric are compromising this maps population and are making it more difficult for others to play through the map.

For example, most of the maps population is full of just farmers at this one spot and it’s leaving the map empty in other areas, such as the high sage on the mountain. Nobody ever goes up the mountain and the farmers are always making jokes in map chat about “its a waste of time going up the mountain, you can make gold easier by farming down the bottom”. So there is nobody on the map to complete the events/complete achievements and everything else.

Please do something about the exploiters on LAKE DORIC TODAY!

I’m kittened off because the developers made some of the achievements and events on this map to REQUIRE other players. I don’t have a problem with this generally, but when nearly ALL of them are undermined by this stupid farm.

Players complained about HoT’s having challenges that required a group of players. Well congratulations, you’ve now designed a map where nobody will help you. Because it’s more rewarding to stand around afk all day.

It’s a commonly known fact that if you care about LW achievements, you better do them in the first week or so, after that the population dwindles so much it’ll become much harder. I usually try to rush them in the first few days when there’s still a lot of people.

Yes, but new players will have hard time doing them.

Should it be easy?

Per the AMA they want new players to play, if group achievements are near difficult to obtain it may dissuade players from committing to the game.

Okay, I last played Lake Doric two weeks into its release, so I haven’t encountered any farmers myself, but here is my suggestion:

Open a LFG (preferably a squad) and advertise also in map chat that you need people for an event/achievement. Since I am certain that you are not the only one suffering under the situation, you should find people to team up with in no time.

P.S. There are AFK farmers in Bitterfrost as well. I am always wondering how that works, since you cannot collect berries from the bushes if you are AFK. Someone enlighten me, please?

You will not reach the farmhands though, because nobody checks the chat while trying to land as many AoEs on Centaurs as possible while running through them like crazy.

They let their minions kill mobs and have auto-loot enabled. It’s slow, but you only have to take a look at the screen every once in a while. So for them, it’s idle time they use to get something, which is better than nothing. They are not there for the berries.

I just did this the other day.

I consider myself very lucky, as the farm was set up at he base of the Centaur Hill.

Someone showed up, popped a commander tag, and asked if anyone was interested in ascending the hill to get the POI, items, and random chests along the way.

Several players joined his squad(I think I counted like 15+ in the Squad on the commander) and there were several green names along with the squad. We went up the hill, got the POIs and items needed for achieves, and then went back down.

Again, I know I was lucky to get this opportunity. But, in this game, I have found that if you ask in map-chat or check the LFG tool…you can find things you need to do as a group.

It is frustrating when you cannot, but I have seen many times someone ask in map-chat, then a person responds and tags up and says “let’s do this”. I have done so myself in some cases using the Mentor Tag (I don’t have a commander tag, and I am not spending that kind of gold to get one…lol).

So don’t give up, and never be afraid or be too shy about asking in the map-chat if someone is willing to command/mentor a group to get an achievement specific goal completed.

You need a good commander. I was lucky once and that guy even went with us to the heart vendor and run the labyrinth, tagging the way you need to go. Awesome!

Ahhhh, now I finally got it! (click) You were referring to the leather farmers in the North-East of the map. (ding-ding-ding) D’uh!

Edit: If that’s really as common as all of you claim, and I believe you, then why is leather still this expensive?

That makes sense. Maybe they need to reduce the spawn rate at the nodes then.

It’s uncommonly known that this isn’t true. Sometimes it’s actually harder during the first weeks because too many people are ‘heck-bent’ on completing some achievements and not others. Lots of the events turn out to be easier with fewer people.

Rushing them the first week is a perfectly fine strategy, but so is taking your time.

To the OP’s point: I’m sorry that you’re having difficulty, but the issue isn’t farmers — if those guys weren’t in your map farming, they’d be in some other map farming; they aren’t affecting your map’s ability to do anything.

If you aren’t a member of a guild or social group that can help, and if there’s no LFG opportunity, create one — you’re never going to be the only one needing an achievement. If that doesn’t work, post a cry for help in the players-helping-players forum. Lots of folks are more than happy to help anyone with graciously-worded request.

All of these suggestions are good ….

I pick away at achievements in all of the maps and refuse to run through them all in a week. I like to enjoy the new content and take it all in. But it really is as easy as looking in LFG for a squad, there’s tons of them for Lake Doric, joining up and doing the run up the hill. I’ve never had trouble looking for a Commander to run up that mountain

Also I like the idea of LFG to advertise you need help. I’ve done this for the exact reason you’re having trouble with. Players that speed through new content will have no trouble creating a squad or joining your party to help with these events. Some [NOT ALL ] are just standing around in style anyways looking for something to do.
