Please read: NO NEW RACES!
While I agree that there might not be new races soon, I do find your points rather weird.
1: There is a rather large zone where the Tengu capital is placed, which is not 95% water.
2: They can add lower level zones as well, just because they haven’t (they have added a grand total of 2 zones since release, so don’t really think we can say for sure that that will always be the case).

1) Dominion of Winds perhaps?
2) Dominion of Winds can include those starter areas?
3) Yes, they need a proper introduction, which could come with an Elder Dragon threat which gets a bit too close for comfort. Mostly likely candidates would be Mordremoth, Deep Sea Dragon or Primordius – the latter most apparent because of those Destroyers knocking on the DoW walls in south east Kessex Hills…
But yes, I agree, I don’t think we’re likely to see a new playable race any time soon.

Problem with dominion of the wind is, if you cramp both the capital and the starter zone in there, they would both be very small. and would still be 75% water. Dominion of the wind is three large islands
remember that to the left of lions arch is some dominion of winds as well
maybe the map will get updated once we “explore what really is there”
the map as we see it is basd on the knowledge the land looked back then about 100years ago
the capital could be directly next ti lions arch and down in hte south the starter zone which got a bit more land than it looks like?!?
i mean orr was completely udner whater until zhaitan rose
maybe something rose there as well…
remember southsun cove pretty much sudenly appeared as well…
there as nt even a little island be4 if i recall it correctly…
so there is enough spcae for a captial and a starter zone
they surely could also make a new map that is not level 80
however i doubt it will come with this update since a lot of events heartquests armours need to be changed and without the tengu being indroduzed to us …i highly doubt we will get them as a playable race
if a tengu would join kasmeer rox and the others however….
(if ..then probly later than the sylvari…some say canach….)
that will take some time xDD
If not the Tengu, then I vouch for the Kodan. Their cities are all floating icebergs, so they don’t even need to currently be on the map, and there’s plenty of room in the Far Shiverpeaks.
I don’t think its purely necessary for a new race to have several level 1-79 areas dedicated to it, either. The tengu could easily share their starter area with the Sylvari in caledon forest.
I agree with no new race in Season 2. That’s too big to not hint at, especially at this stage. However, about “no room for tengu,” I disagree. See attachment (it’s part of an old suggestion for expanding Southsun and how to fit tengu in as a new race that I never got to finishing).
And why can’t it be with a lot of water? Here’s your solution: aerial-based vertical-shaped zones. Most of the gameplay would be based on chunks of lands in the air, tengu-made contraptions that relate to their avian selfs.
A level 1-10 or 1-15 zone could be made inbetween Kessex and Lion’s Arch, stretching down to include the Wizard’s Tower and Claw Island if the latter, and tengu leveling for 10+ or 15+ can be done in Caledon and Kessex Hills, which we already have entryways for. The starter zone would also have access to Garrenhoff and Lion’s Arch, perhaps even Bloodtide and/or Southsun if desired.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
if they can work a more Charr, and Asura, in order to “complete”, another race does not bother me.
The Dominion of Winds is already there, so any argument about a capital fitting on the map is already completely moot.
If they were to add a race, it’s likely not going to be hinted at until the conclusion of Season 2 for that big “Awe yeah!” moment. Using this hook, people would be excited for Season 3.

That’s the whole point. The Dominion of the Wind is the capital. So where do you wanna fight? The reason they keep their gates closed is because everything is good behind the walls and they wanna keep it that way
If you don’t like the new race, don’t play it. adding one causes no one harm, especially the tengu which are deeply engraved in the Iore and already have their city and map designed, as they were originally included when gw2 was first to be released.
That being said however, I fell we will not see them in season two as they have nothing to do with maguma.

Wrong, the dominion of the wind is plauged by destroyers. they closed the gates to get a controled grip over the situation, to avoiding letting outside problems in and thus make things worst, and because they are isolationist.
No one wants an underground starter zone? They are battling Destroyers.
Nothing says that the Tengu can’t have their starting zone in Caledon Forest either, you know. Since the Tengu canonically enter the story after the defeat of Zhaitan and LS1, they might not even have the standard Personal Story the other races do. (Which is why I think it makes better sense for them to come with, say, a Canthan expansion. Their Personal Story focuses around the return to Cantha.)
Except that the presumed exit point from the Dominion of Winds to Caledon Forest is a level 12 area. This would require them to either have their own space to level up to that point, or for them to have to pass through someone else’s city to get to a newbie zone.
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
Okay. This discussion is getting awfully tengu-sided. Originally I meant there wouldnt be any races at all. The tengu has some options, but its tricky. There wont be any new races now because the new zones are all lv80. Also I doubt they would choose a race without clear gender roles, so that would rule out the skritt, the frogs, weird dolphincrawlers and the Kodan. Since these races have no gender characters.

There is a way they can make Tengu’s PS part of the Zhaitan PS. Right now the Tengu are checking out to see if the other races are good enough to be allies. Its possible they can send Tengu out of the DoW to check on the other races and they get tangled up with the whole Zhaitan in Orr thing. Rememebr afer Claw Island you do meet a tengu blacksmith in that fort.
That was my thinking, too – that for PS purposes, your character could be one of the few who left the DoW for some reason or other – but there is another snag which would need a resolution. Remember the level 30 cutscene where the “iconics” get into a fight? Why would you be there, who would your mentor be?
Still, I guess swapping out one or two PS scenes wouldn’t be the end of the world. Or maybe just altering – maybe your mentor catches word of Destiny’s Edge possibly getting back together and sends you to investigate and report back later… hm.
It’s probably a solvable issue.

Tengu schmengu… give me playable snake-tailed Naga! There’s plenty of water so they could pop up anywhere! Maybe in the underwater expansion… assuming the sea dragon doesn’t decide to be lame and actually surface for us to fight it, or the ArenaNet not go the easy route and merely shove us into “submarine” (portal) that ports us to some cave with it. Now that would be underwhelming!
Tengu and Naga/Krait are my two most-wanted new races.
They could replace the Sylvari by Tengu. That’d certainly improve the game.

Are we sure DoW is only three large islands?
Any reason they couldn’t implement a feature similar to Goemm’s Lab in Metrica Provine but instanced/zoned and have the Tengu live both in the skies and on ground?
City hub area perhaps up in the sky with platforms, etc., with a starter area spread across the 3(?) islands on ground level below.

They can always expand the map y’know, the map we have now can easily have more added onto it, and i don’t mean new zones added to what is visible, i mean the map actually expanded.
